Snapfish Photo Books
I take a lot of pictures, but I am not much of a “scrapbooker.” I tried the scrapbooking thing when I was in college, but I never had enough time to keep up. Plus, I am not very good at cutting out shapes and decorating pages. I can create pretty cookies, but that is about it. I am not crafty! My photos are important to me and I do want them saved in an orderly manner. That is why I love Snapfish’s Photo Books-they make it easy to create personal photo books without getting out the glue or pretty scrapbook paper:)
With Snapfish, you can create a book for every occasion-weddings, birthday celebrations, holidays, and family vacations. I am participating in Snapfish’s “Your Creative Lens of Life” Campaign. I am going to create a special photo book, but I need your help on deciding what to make my book about. My book is going to be judged (against 9 other books) on it’s creativity and if my book is the winner the first 100 commenters on this post will receive $100 credit to Snapfish. Yay!
So what should my book be about? Should I make a book about baby Caleb’s birth, his first 2 months, my past travels, or my recipes? Please help! I can’t wait to hear your suggestions. I am excited to get started on my special photo book! Thanks for your help!
This post is sponsored by Snapfish, but my opinions are my own.

i think a book about your recipes sprinkled in with other stories (and photos) that go with whatever recipe you made would be a creative idea to set your book apart from others!
I like Sarah’s idea about the recipes with stories about them. Of course, no one would blame you for doing a baby book – everyone loves baby pictures! But there probably won’t be many (if any) entries of recipe books.
We made a snapfish photo book for my son when he was about three months old. It has photos of him with grandparents, aunts, uncles, and parents. My family lives far away, so this gives my son a chance to see them daily and learn family vocabulary with his own family! It’s a hit and I love it. That’s my suggestion!
Good luck!
I agree with Tara Lynn and sarah. A recipe book with stories and photos thrown in would likely stand out among the competition. Maybe a story and picture about why each recipe means something to you.
I was going to say “on the baby of course.: But then I read the other comments and I thought…they are right, there will probably be tons of baby books, and few recipe books, so now I’m going to say go with the pictures/stories of the recipes.
I love the idea of a recipe book with pictures and stories about the recipe.
I’ll have to agree with the recipes. There will be so many photos and books along the way, if you have a special story or reasoning for the recipes you use, it would be a neat recipe/cook book! You could also pass down to your children so it could stick around for a long time
Definitely about Caleb…. But do a recipe book as the second one. I agree with you about scrap booking – I think this is a great alternative.
I’d do your travels, or a specific trip. His birth would be good since that was a specific event and I’m sure he’d like to look at it in the future.
It all comes down to what you have the best pictures of really. The pictures make the book.
Another fun idea is to make a photo storybook for your son. Do pages like “my name is…”, “My family is…”, “My favorite things are…”, “this year we went to…”. My daughter loves reading the book I made her and identifying herself and our family in the photos!
How about the adventures of Maria and Josh – from baking enthusiasts to cookie juggling parents. heheee.. or something like that
I would do a book with all of your family members for Caleb to look at when he gets a little bigger. My kids love looking at pictures of friends and family!
I have one from the first few months of my first boy and I love it! Go with that one
I would say something that combines the two, like maybe recipes you craved while you were pregnant
Why don’t you think about making a baby book of the first year? You could make a bigger one for Caleb to have when he is older, and a smaller one for doting grandparents! We have a three year and a three month old, and we do annual calendars on shutterfly – a huge hit with the (great)grandparents!
I think it should be all inclusive – your adventures in cooking to parenting to traveling — anything that makes your life your own. Good luck!
Ohh…now I *really* want you to win! I love these–I did one of my kids first year together (they’re very close together in age!) as a gift for the grandparents. But the others are right–your first baby is exciting and special to you, but likely won’t stand out creatively. How about recipes with stories and pictures of you and your family? eg. how you hope Caleb will like a recipe or how a certain trip inspired a recipe.
I would do a book of Caleb’s first two months – those changes are so great and it’s a time you really want to remember. It may be harder to be creative with baby pictures, but that could help in the judging as well.
Good luck!
I think it should be about your culinary adventures! You could include your own personal culinary history (do you remember the first thing you baked/cooked?). Or maybe just a book all about cookies!
I love photobooks, esp for gifts for grandparents!
I would DEFINITELY do a book about the birth. Due to craziness surrounding our son’s birth, we didn’t get a bunch of pictures. However, even without a lot of pictures, I had a hard time trying to record everything that happened on the “month” associated with the birth in my annual photo book. I later went back and did one on the first two months of his life and I was able to expound somewhat which made me feel better.
Therefore, my vote is a birth book- you don’t want to forget all of those little details. The other books can easily come later.
Good luck!!!
I like the idea my step-mom made for our kids for their 1st birthday: an alphabet book with all of our family on the corresponding letter for their name (D is for Drew with a picture of Drew). It’s a great way for kids to learn their letters and all those family member’s names!
Agree with all who have said a photo book about your son!
Oh how fun! My first instinct was a book about Caleb. Then I thought of a recipe book. Then I thought about a book that would combine the two. I am sure whatever you do will be great!
I think Caleb inspired books would be best
Oh, you should definitely do Caleb’s first months.
I’m hoping to do that for my nephew.
I love the idea above about the alphabet book…but I would do a birth/baby book while it’s still fresh in your mind. It’s hard to remember these things down the road and one day your precious baby boy will love looking back and seeing his birth and first few months through your eyes. You could make it a yearly tradition and do one every year for him!
I think you should do some sort of food “journey” through your pregnancy/first months of your baby’s life. It’d be fun maybe to talk about when you found out you were pregnant, then put the pictures and recipes to food that sounded good then, etc. All along you could have different stages of pregnancy/ baby’s life and recipes that went with it, maybe some seasonal stuff, etc… a good balance of everything and I think it would be super cute!
I vote for a book of your recipes and stories! Your food photography is so beautiful, and it would be nice to have a “concrete” record of it in addition to your blog.
Make an entire book about making cookies from start to finish. You are a sucker for cookies so it seems very fitting. And I love, love photo books as away to journal and scrapbook. Or if you want something personal, I like to do a year-in-review sort of book.
I say make it about Caleb and your pregnancy. I love baby pictures! I’m sure you would have so many to choose from too! =) You can add in some funny moments to really personalize it.
I also agree with the first commenter, Sarah, about her idea for the book! Good luck, hope you win!
Recipies and the places that inspired your recipies. Pics of places and the recipies that came from that place!
I say do a book about blogging. Who ever thinks about all the behind the scenes things it takes for you to get it all done.
Baby pictures are always a hit, but your recipes are always so great and your pictures so beautiful. I bet you’d win for sure if you did a recipe book!
about your recipes. i love pictures of food!!
1) A photobook of your kitchen remodel
2) A photobook that chronicles your journey to world-famous food blogger
A baby book is always so fun! and you get to see all their changes..:) Good luck!
I’m just like you! I was never creative enough to be able to make a good-looking scrapbook. Going through, organizing, keeping them organized, etc has always been such a pain. I was introduced to Snapfish a few months ago and I’m in love! I’ve used it to create books with our travels, our honeymoon, photos we take over time, like at parties and weddings and some of important events (we made a book of photos of my husband proposing!) It’s great to be able to so easily and beautifully have hard copies of our memories at hand and be able to show them off.
I say recipes but you can tie in the other two topics as well. It would be great to have your recipes organized into a type of portfolio that can show case your talent.
