1. Saturday, I spent the day with these dudes at Deer Valley downhill mountain biking. What a day! Good friends and great biking.

2. We tested out our new BOB Double Stroller when Caleb’s cousins were visiting. It is awesome! I can’t wait to go for runs and walks with both of our boys!

3. These dogs are amazing!

4. In other biking news, I have put in a little over a thousand miles on my bikes this year. I guess a good wreck was bound to happen. I crashed and this is what my ankle looked like the day after. My hip and knee looked about the same. Ouch! I didn’t break anything and it’s not as bad as it looks.

5. I love the podcast Freakonomics. Here is a great one I listened to recently.

1. I am 39.5 weeks pregnant…which means I am VERY pregnant. Our baby could come any day and that makes me happy, nervous, excited, anxious, and scared! I hate the waiting game! I keep asking our baby to tell me when he is going to come, but I am only getting kicks, no answers:) Any guesses on when our little pea will make his debut?

2. Started a new book! I love all of O’Neal’s books so I am hoping this one is a winner too!

3. I haven’t been sleeping even though I am sooooo tired. People keep telling me to get my sleep now before the baby comes, but I think I might sleep more when we do have a newborn. At least I will have a reason to be up at night. Right now, I just stare at the ceiling and wish I could fall asleep.

4. I’ve been craving a Dairy Queen Blizzard since the beginning of my pregnancy. I ignored the cravings for 9 months, but this week I gave in and I gave in big time. Did you know you can get a Blizzard in a waffle cone? Yep! You better believe I tried it! It cured my craving for sure!

5. A magic cake! Can’t wait to make this one!

6. Currently craving sweet corn. You know, to balance out the ice cream cravings:)

7. No-Bake treat for summer! I NEED!

8. I love a good summer rainstorm and so does Caleb! He had too much fun playing in the puddles and catching raindrops on his tongue!

9. Dying over this ice cream cake and this one!

10. My hospital bag is packed, but I feel like I am forgetting something. I have all of the basics: comfortable clothes/pj’s, chargers, an outfit for the baby to come home in, toiletries, etc. I can’t pack my phone, camera, or computer until it is GO time, but is there anything else I should add? Any MUST haves for the hospital? Josh is in charge of grabbing our car seat.

11. So excited that Kettle Brand is making popcorn now!

  1. Congrats on the followers! That’s just awesome. Did you pack snacks for yourself? I liked having a few bars just in case. Ah! I love little pea shares a birthday with Kaylin (tomorrow!!). That’d be very cool. Josh- hope you’re feeling better

    1. How did I forget snacks? Packing some today! I hate hospital food! Fingers crossed he comes tomorrow:)

  2. I agree with the snacks too! And my must have was cozy socks or slipper socks. Hated those hospital slipper socks – yuck. My feet were always cold in the hospital!

  3. I worked in a post partum unit for a few years. Even though we hope this doesn’t happen…if you have to have a C-section, you will be much more comfortable in a nightgown instead of pajama pants that may rub your incision. Bring one just in case…and yes, the slippers too. A flameless candle is relaxing and soothing too. Best wishes for a healthy and easy delivery!

  4. I also love the O’Neal books…..this new one is great too! Enjoy! The hard part is waiting for the next one. Take snacks and some relaxing music. A washcloth is good too…..Josh can dampen it and put it on your head or back of your neck and it feels good during all that pushing! Many blessings to you, Josh & Caleb during this special time!

  5. You will have to try Jeni’s sweet corn ice cream and kill two birds with one stone. Hopefully, you won’t have time before baby comes, though.

  6. I had no idea you could order a Blizzard in a waffle cone. YUM! Love the pic of Caleb in the rain. Your baby bump is so cute – congrats! Can’t wait to see the new lil guy. Hope you get some sleep. I wish I had some advice for you, but I remember not sleeping well at the end of mine. Thanks for the great links!

  7. I dont know if you need your Boppy or if you even have one, but I wanted to hold my baby ALL the time but my arms got tired. Glad I brought my Boppy. Also, dont know if you are getting a gift for your older boy, but I brought a gift to the hospital to give to my older daughter from our newborn. It was something special she could have that was hers and helped a little with the transition:) Good Luck!

  8. I really loved having my robe at the hospital to cozy up and snuggle, and definitely the Boppy. I also brought my own pillow from home so I knew I’d at least not have a sore neck in the morning 🙂 Best wishes for a healthy delivery!

  9. Chapstick! I used almost a whole tube of it during my deliveries. So much breathing….
Best wishes for a smooth delivery and a healthy bundle <3

  10. I took my own kleenex, toilet paper and bath towel. We also took a fluffy sleeping bag and a pillow for my husband. Made the bed/couch much more comfortable for him.

  11. I can’t believe he’s coming any day now! I can’t wait to see pics and hear all about it. And you look so cute!! Good luck with the delivery!!

  12. I’m 34 weeks pregnant and I just made my list for the hospital bag. Top of the list – lip balm! I also bring lavender lotion, a stress ball and slippers. Good luck!!

  13. Josh I hope you heal soon, yikes!

I volunteer in the maternity ward at my local hospital so I’ll try and remember what moms have needed…..

Make sure you have shampoo, toothpaste, and a toothbrush for you (and Josh!). Right before I have taken a family to their car to go home their newborn got hi clothes all dirty so make sure you pack an extra outfit just in case. If you don’t want to use the hospital blankets then I would pack your own! Josh might want his own blanket and/or pillow to sleep in the room so theres that, too. I know this one is a no brainer but don’t forget your license. If you’re expecting flowers then I recommend something to put in the trunk for the flowers and their vases so they can’t fall over. I also recommend a robe and socks for if or when you walk your newborn around the OB floor. Also, don’t forget to bring something for Caleb to do while he is visiting.

I hope that helps and I am wishing you and Josh a wonderful delivery!! 🙂

  14. I remember having some serious dry mouth after delivering my DD. So any gum or hard candy that you prefer is a total must! Oh and my feet swelled like crazy post partum- the only shoes that fit were my slipperz. Good luck and congrats!

  15. To Him: Looks like you have an open area near your ankle. Kinda looks like cellulitis to me which does require a doctor to treat. It’s worth looking into.

  16. I really enjoy your recipes and blog. Many blessings to you as you are getting close to the end of your pregnancy.

  17. I recommend a big brother bag full of toys and snacks for baby to give to big brother at the hospital. Helps ease it and keeps him busy at the hospital.

  18. So excited for you Maria! You seem so prepared! My three came early and I went to the hospital with nothing. Zero! Can’t wait to see pics of your new pea! And I hope Josh is ok!

  19. Socks for the baby! It may be hot outside but I always put socks on new babies since all the hospital gives them is the long sleeve onesie and a hat. When the nurse and doctors come in and unwrap them, and then start poking and prodding, at least their little feet will be covered. Hope all goes well!

  20. You look amazing Maria! Sweet corn was what I was craving last year right before the delivery. It was in May and there were no sweet corns here then. You’re luckier! And thank you for linking to my Chcolate Magic Custard Cake! I wish I could live closer and make it for you because you may not have time for it after delivery. Hope you have a healthy delivery!
