1. We took a few weeks off from This and That because we had exciting baby news to share! You can read Maxwell’s birth story here in case you missed it. I am still adjusting to life with a newborn and toddler…there is never a dull moment at our house! All of the snuggles and cuddles with my boys make the craziness and long nights worth it! I love having two boys!

2. Cut me a big piece of this cake!

9. I am nursing and hungry ALL of the time. When I wake up in the middle of the night to feed Maxwell, I NEED a snack. Any good snack suggestions for me? Of course, cookies are my first choice, but I probably shouldn’t be eating cookies at 1:00 a.m. if I want to lose the baby weight:)

  1. awwww! He is so cute! Yall make some cute peanuts ;). That webcam video was hilarious. I want to make the banana sushi for Kay! What about making roasted chickpeas and keeping them in the fridge as a nursing snack??

  2. Such a cutie pie! I would say that snacks that I eat while nursing were “quiet” snacks. Anytime I made a noise, my daughter would stop eating, it was so frustrating! Anyway, lots of bananas, greek yogurt tubes, pre-made smoothies, fig newtons. Congratulations!

  3. My go to snack in the middle of the night when I was breastfeeding was a bowl of cereal (usually Honey Nut Cheerios). Quick to make and quick to eat so I could get back to sleep!

  4. Oh my, what a cutie!! What about some date/nut balls? They taste like a sweet treat but are (usually) a better alternative!

  5. Ohhhh Caleb and Maxwell are sooooo cute! Have you taken too many pictures beyond your imagination yet? ;). If you insist on no more midnight cookies then dried apricots or just some fruit or coated nuts. Mmmm!

(I would eat the cookies. Life’s too short about baby weight 😉 )
    Best wishes.

  6. Ohhhh Caleb and Maxwell are sooooo cute! Have you taken too many pictures beyond your imagination yet? ;). If you insist on no more midnight cookies then dried apricots or just some fruit or coated nuts. Mmmm!

(I would eat the cookies. Life’s too short to worry about baby weight 😉 )
    Best wishes.

  7. Wouldn’t you just feel like a princess every day with a closet & shoes like that!? Well, back to the garden and old overalls! Your boys are beautiful…..what a wonderful family! Congrats again.

  8. LOVE all your pictures of the sweet kiddos!! Caleb and his superhero costume reminds me so much of Jon David at that age 🙂

One of my go-to snacks is an Eggo Nutrigrain waffle (I buy the low fat kind) with Peanut Butter and Co White Chocolate Wonderful spread on it. The PB melts a little on the warm waffle and it is SO GOOD! Chocolate Vitatops (usually found in the freezer section of Target) are so good and filling and low calorie too! I also like a handful of pretzels and a wedge of Laughing Cow Spreadable Swiss to dip it in 🙂 All filling and all low calorie and yummy!! xoxo

    1. You have me craving PB now! I love Laughing Cow cheese too! Good ideas! Thanks friend! xo

  9. I ate a lot of almonds, bananas, cheese sticks, apple slices with peanut butter when I was nursing. But looking back, I should have made( or bought ) healthy granola bars! After my son was born, my mom made me super yummy oatmeal with flax seed, with berries and brown sugar.

  10. Wow, he is so precious! At 1:00am I think I’d probably go for the cookies too 🙂 Hope you’re healing well!

  11. Snack suggestion…you answered this question yourself… Have some of those peaches from your tree on hand. You can cut up a couple before heading to bed. Then when baby wakes in the middle of the night, ask hubby to grab them from the kitchen while you get baby ready to nurse. Oh, and always have a glass of water within arms reach. (Breast fed babies always have the best complexions and your newest little man is no exception!) Best of everything to you and yours!

  12. Thanks for linking to my nanner sushi guys 😀 I love when food bloggers do posts like it. We get to take a peek inside your real life 😀

  13. Go for nuts, seeds, or cheese. The sugary or carb-y snacks just lead to rebound hunger due to the surge of insulin needed to clear the excess sugar from the blood. If you do have something sugary or carb-y, balance it w/ fat/protein to minimize sugar spikes (and drops).

  14. I always used to eat trail mix when I was up nursing late at night. Also, I’ve seen recipes around the web lately for ‘breastfeeding cookies’. I’ve never made them, but I assume they’re made of healthier ingredients for nursing mamas.

  15. Love seeing your family and sweet baby boy! Such a crazy hectic but fun time of life with a newborn, lol! Can’t wait to see you guys in a couple months!!

  16. My go-to items (our little one was born in May) have been tortillas with peanut butter or cream cheese (easier to eat when breastfeeding!), KIND bars, Larabars, yogurt and anything with eggs when my husband was home because he would cook them…

  17. Toasted whole wheat toast or Milton’s bread (toasted) with any nut butter (cashew, almond, or chunky peanut butter are so delish!). One or two pieces of that warm toast with the slightly melted nut butter smeared on top is just so tasty, healthy, and just plain comforting and highly satisfying at any time, but especially late late at night when your starving. (PS: I buy the Milton’s bread from Costco. Freezes well, and toasts up really nice straight from freezer to toaster. Yum! Healthy too!)

Congrats on your new little boy! Such a sweet looking lil guy. I’m sure Caleb is in complete heaven. So cool, now he has a little buddy/playmate! Awesome! : )

  18. Congrats on that little lamb you guys. He is so so sweet. Wish I were a little closer to bring some dinner and cooookies over! Take care and enjoy this honeymoon stage 🙂

  19. Love these posts! Especially now with another sweet baby in the mix. ☺When I was nursing during the night I’d keep containers of different kinds of trail mix next to me. Also wonderful in the morning when I had to feed him before I could get to the kitchen. Hubby would also often times bring me apple slices or banana with PB or nutella during that first early morning feeding before he left for work.
