3. The day after Christmas we went shopping for discounted Christmas decorations for our new house. Caleb had fun posing for pictures on all of the yard decor. I have about 20 different pictures of him posing. Caleb kept running around saying take my picture like this, take my picture like this. Ha!

4. Learning potential of the adolescent brain. Interesting!

5. Yesterday, I got home from work and set my briefcase down. Maxwell immediately picked it up and said, “Work. Bye-bye.” He walked to the door with my bag. He is a funny kid!

1. Hiiiiii! It feels like I haven’t “talked” to you in forever. We took a few weeks off for the holidays, but we are back with lots to talk about! First of all, how are you liking the new site? We hope you are feeling right at home.

2. How is the new year treating you? Did you make any resolutions? I was going to, but decided to wait. I want to get organized this year, but I want to wait until we get into our new house…hopefully it will be done this spring! So, I am procrastinating my resolution already. I will start getting rid of some things now because I don’t want to move stuff we won’t be using in the new house, but my resolution is kind of on pause.

3. Over the holidays we watched this movie. I liked it. I also got hooked to Jane the Virgin! It is a silly show, but I find it entertaining.

7. Home goals.

8. What are you reading? Do tell. I am flying to LA this weekend and need a book to read!

9. Speaking of LA, I am going to LA to host a Golden Globes party with Lindt. I also get to attend the exclusive Weinstein after party with all of the stars. I have to wear a formal gown, heels, get all dolled up…the works! I am going to be WAY out of my comfort zone. I usually watch the Golden Globes in my pajamas, so wish me luck!! And follow on Instagram and snapchat (twopeasandpod) for behind the scenes action! Oh, and make my popcorn to watch the show. It’s kind of amazing!

  1. Jane the Virgin is the best! It only appears to be silly, but really it’s tackling all the right issues, like immigration, feminism and allowing yourself to go after your dreams. I love it! Hope your 2016 will be lovely!

  2. Have sooo much fun at the Golden Globes!! We painted our house before we moved in and had sooo much trouble picking grays. And now I can’t even remember what we went with?! I think Pebble Beach and Silver Lake. We did those 2 shades throughout, plus one darker wall (Timber Wolf I think!). And we love it!

  3. Gray Mirage 2142-50 in Benjamin Moore is a great color! We have it in our living room, up the staircase and the upstairs hallway. I highly recommend it. My sister is an interior designer and uses it all the time!

  4. I love the ideas on the Timeless Neutrals  Color card.  It gives ideas and options that work together well especially if you want to add a little color in places but stick with the gray/neutral themes.   We used a Benjamin Moore card like this when we painted and it took the headache out of the choosing colors.

  5. I do not like that your “featured recipe” is not at the top of the daily blog.  I search your site daily, and closed it out many times as there was nothing new on “top.”  I finally saw a recipe that caught my eye, and thus discovered how your new site works.  Not happy!

    1. Thanks for your feedback. The slideshow at the top features seasonal and favorite recipes. The recent posts are right under it. There is a title “Recent Posts.” They are still at the top. You can also sign up for our newsletter. It goes out when we have a new post!

  6. I was also looking a neutral/gray colors when we did our first floor remodel.  Because it was open concept I wanted a color that would go in all of the rooms.  I was looking at harbor gray and the very popular revere pewter when the woman in the showroom pulled out a color I had not seen before.  It is called Wish.  I liked it for two reasons (1) the name given I finally got my wish of an open first floor and new kitchen that had been a dream for a while and (2) I love that in some light in looks gray and in other light it looks more beige.  It really looks great with everything.

  7. I love your new dinning room table!   Grays are always a good option.  When we painted our house we went with a darker and a lighter color.  I don’t specifically remember the color names.  I like when there is a couple different colors in a home versus one color that goes thru ought the whole home.

  8. I’ve been following you for years, but this is my first post. Congratulations on the Golden Globes, you will have a blast. Secondly, I have a color called Mushroom Risotto in my living room. I thought it might appeal to you because…well, you get it.

  9. The pictures of Caleb and Maxwell are great! Their new clothes looked great on them – I want to see the movie Papter Towns but haven’t had a chance to yet – I really liked The Fault in Our Stars so I have high hopes for this movie since it’s the same book author – My New Years resolution of being more organized is also stalled ….sigh

  10. I read Letters to the Lost by Iona Grey over Christmas and absolutely loved it. Recommended it to a friend and she loved it too! So that’s my book recommendation. 🙂

  11. Caleb and his cowboy hat, too cute!! Good luck at the golden globes!! So exciting! You’ll look and be amazing, like always!

  12. Try Gray Wisp for the walls. It’s a copy of Restoration Hardware’s famous Silver Sage that is a long time decorator favorite. It has this magic way of making a rooms furnishings really pop.

  13. I loved reading Eleanor & Park, and Big Little Lies was good too. Everybody in my book club loved them too. When we painted some rooms in my house, I initially planned on doing grays but ended up going with Van Courtland Blue (Benjamin Moore) in our living room. It is a grayish blue and I’ve gotten sooo many compliments on it! SO jealous about your Golden Globes adventure! Have FUN!!

  14. I recently finished The Girl who Chased the Moon by Sarah Addison Allen.  It was wonderful. Enjoy the Golden Globes – super jealous!!

  15. hey girl- love the post!  Happy New Year! I’m having a great year so far! My husband and I are painting our house, we chose cream in my coffee(valspar) for the walls. I really do love that color! We have just begun but the house is going to look so pretty when were done, the previous owners (we have lived here -it will be  2 years in May in Shawnee,OK ) had funny opinions on paint colors for the rooms pink, blue, green! Living room is a cream color. So I’m excited to finish! So…. you were wanting a book name. I just finished this week  – It is called A Plain and Fancy Christmas by Cynthia Keller. Oh my goodness it is so good! I would love for this to be a movie! I love Amish novels. My favorite author is Beverly Lewis! So… girl have fun this weekend and enjoy your self!! Can’t wait to see pics of your dress! And your pics of your boys are so adorable! Have a great day and God bless!

  16. Congrats on LA trip I’m sure it will be fun to get dolled up…and then just as fun to head back home to your flannel sheets. Stop by my blog PrairieWifeInHeels.com I have tons of book reviews and right now I have a giveaway of a signed copy of a recently published book that is AMAZING! One of my New Year’s Resolutions is being better about trying some of those 100’s of recipes I pinned last year, after all why spend the time if I’m not going to make them. Tonight is a sausage cajun pasta yum!

  17. Loving the new site – still not thrilled with the ads that show up in your photos, but I’ll deal with it! And Happy New year to you all!
Oh and have a blast at the Golden Globes – how fun is that????

  18. My advice on the paint would to definitely do some test spots in different areas of the room.  A friend just painted hers a greige and it was crazy how different it looked depending on the lighting.  Also grey can come off as being very cold and dull so I prefer the tones with a bit of beige so it doesn’t look like cement.

  19. We have grey and beige in our house – we have Sherwin Williams – Grey Screen. Love the color, almost wish we would have put it everywhere.

  20. It’s not Benjamin Moore, but we love Martha Stewart’s line of colors. They have icons on the sample cards so you can choose coordinating colors and shades.
