1. I am not one for motivational stuff, but I saw this post and thought they were wise words to live by.

2. I usually snowboard every winter, but this year I started skiing. I have really enjoyed my switch. I know ski season is almost over, but I’m starting to look for a good pair of powder skis. Any suggestions? There are so many choices, I don’t know where to start.

3. I had to run out to the car to get something and put on the closest jacket and shoes I could find. Maria has major issues when I dress like this. It is always just for a short period of time when I need to get something done fast. Granted that could include running to the store, post office, etc. I just don’t understand why it is an issue. I get stuff done!

1. So let’s talk about Netflix. We have had it for about a month and I’m kind of addicted. How did we survive with out it? We don’t sit and watch TV all day, somedays I am tempted, but when we do want to relax in front of the tube there is always something “on.” We already finished House of Cards-so maybe we’ve been watching a little more than our fair share of TV, but House of Cards sucked us in! Such a great show! Netflix-your trial month worked on us. We are hooked! And I know we are behind the times. Netflix is SO last year…or maybe even the year before that:)

2. This is the coolest cake ever! So perfect for the peas:)

3. I am loving the Food Network’s scented wax melts! Our house smells like Sunday Morning Pancakes this week. And thanks to the pancake aroma, we’ve made these pancakes for dinner. I was craving them:) I am afraid to use the brownie one!

4. And while we are on the subject of pancakes for dinner, have you seen the new Breakfast for Dinner cookbook by Lindsay Landis and Taylor Hackbarth? If you are a breakfast for dinner fan, like us, you will love this book! So many great recipes!

5. Blueberry, oatmeal, and bread…all in one! Sign me up!

6. Ladies-let’s talk mascara. I’ve used and loved Avon’s wash-off waterproof mascara since my college days. Yes, I just admitted to loving Avon. Does that make me old? I don’t care. This mascara makes my lashes look like a million bucks..and it washes off so easily. I just ordered 3 new tubes this week! I’m ready to bat my lashes:) What is your favorite mascara?

7. Angel food cake for breakfast! Love this French toast!

8. All of the peas got hair cuts this week! We were all looking a little shaggy. Caleb didn’t want to sit still this time so his new do is a little crooked in the front. He’s still super cute! Maybe he will start a new trend. Move over Bieber!

9. I’ve only read one book since Caleb was born. He’s 17 months old and I miss getting lost in a book. I am out of the book world loop, so tell me what’s good! I need a fun and easy read to get me back into my reading routine! Share your suggestions in the comments! Thanks!

10. Today is National Cereal Day. You better believe we are eating cereal for breakfast, lunch, and dinner!

  1. Ow- cereal day? I can get behind that! I wonder when Kaylin will actually require a haircut ;). Its hard to sit and watch tv or read a book with a peanut running around! I kind of like Josh’s outfit..maybe I”m weird 🙂

  2. I feel like I’m constantly looking for a good mascara…I just might have to try your Avon favorite!

And cereal for the day sounds perfect to me!

  3. lol Josh! I see so many men wearing winter coats and shorts in the winter time. I don’t get it either, so I’m with Maria on this one!!!

For the Angle Food Cake, I am so making that this weekend!!

  4. Have you read The Art of Racing in the Rain? Not exactly a super light read, but definitely one that will grab your attention and not let you go until you are done! I read it in 2 nights – so so good. I would love to hear some other recommendations as well!

  5. We just finished watching House of Cards, too! LOVED it. We were surprised that Netflix had such a high quality produced show…the only disappointing thing was it only lasting 13 episodes. Now we’re watching Sherlock. Also good!

  6. I love Netflix. We actually have a Roku box and have our Amazon Prime account linked in for even more movies and shows. My 3 year old loves it. Packed full of Barney and Thomas the Train.

I have been using MAC Haute Naught Lash Mascara. It goes on smooth (no clumps) and builds to a longer lash. I need the help. Is yours a lengthening mascara? My friend uses something for $80 a tube that makes her lashes grow longer. But, she thinks it is affecting her vision. Seriously? Its really not that important to me. haha

Enjoy national cereal day. See we were celebrating already and didn’t even know it. : )

    1. It isn’t a lengthening mascara. I have really long lashes already so don’t need any length help:)

  7. I’ve recently loved Wild by Cheryl Strayed and Purple Hibiscus by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie.

When I’m feeling like it’s hard to read a whole book at a time, I’ll often pick up a collection of short stories and just read one. It’s not quite the same as losing yourself in a novel, but it is a pleasure all its own.

  8. We gave up our Netflix account a few months ago, but have been enjoying my mom’s so we can watch House of Cards 🙂 So good!

  9. In terms of adult books, I’m telling everybody I know to read GONE GIRL by Gillian Flynn. Dark, but super compelling and one of the best-written books I’ve read in a really, really long time. I was about the last person in publishing to get around to reading it–I don’t know what I was waiting for! I was also recently reminded about Mark Haddon’s THE CURIOUS INCIDENT OF THE DOG IN THE NIGHT-TIME, which is an adult book written from the POV of an autistic teen. It’s a few years old now, but so wonderful. If you are into young adult books, I’d recommend the BEAUTIFUL CREATURES series or Lauren Oliver’s DELIRIUM series. Happy reading!

  10. Lookin good, Josh!

And I have really been wanting to try House of Cards. I’ve heard rave reviews!!

  11. No worries! I don’t think Netflix is last year. I had a few days off from work over Christmas Break and we watched the first season of Once Upon A Time in less than three days. It’s amazing how it can suck you in because you know that you don’t have to wait a whole extra week to see it!

I could use some good book titles too so I’m excited to see what people post!

  12. I highly recommend FAIRYDROPS mascara. It’s a Japanese brand available at Sephora, and it is really worth the money. Other mascaras I like include Clinique and Diorshow. I haven’t read in ages either, but I have a few in a pile: Philip Yancey’s The Jesus I Never Knew, plus I received The Game of Thrones as a gift but have never seen the show and don’t know anything about the story!

  13. We love watching Netflix! I watched all the past episodes of Psych and am currently watching White Collar. I also have a passion for reading. Many nights I have stayed up too late because I can’t put the book down. If I want some light reading I might chose a book like the Hannah Swenson mystery series by Joanne Fluke. Two books that I really enjoyed reading were Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet by Jamie Ford and The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society.

  14. I sell AVON and have for the last 18 years…I LOVE there stuff and there skin care line I would put up against the over-priced stuff any day…I am 58 and people tell me I look 15 years younger all the time…gotta love that Anew!!

As for what I am reading right now …I really am enjoying this book, “The Memory Keepers Daughter” by Kim Edwards…

  15. I have to second The Art of Racing in the Rain, especially if you’re a dog lover. It was so good. And I could not put down The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society–I loved it!

Some friends and I recently started a book club here in Salt Lake. You’re welcome to join us if you want some motivation to read more 🙂

  16. I have a 16 month old son and love reading how your son is doing! Also Any book by Tracey chevalier is good and quick if you like historical fiction!

  17. SOme good books that I could not put down are, The Red Tent, and of course The Help (especially if you haven’t seen the movie). Both are good clean fun, and I promise you wont want to put them down. Another one I liked was The Slap, an interesting novel revolving around a someone else slapping their child in discipline. But thats not all the drama….

  18. If you enjoy juvenile fiction, Veronica Roth’s Divergent series is GREAT (think Hunger Games, but with a little more depth)…the last of the trilogy will be out this fall. Fun, easy reads!

  19. How did I not know the Food Network had candles/scented wax?? Seriously!!

I’m ALWAYS trying to find the perfect mascara… I like one for about a month and then start feeling like I need to try something else.

I just read The Light Between the Oceans and loved it! 🙂

    1. I am still using Avon mascara thanks to you! You are the best! We really need to get together! Miss you! xo

  20. Maria, when my kids were little there was little time for books, either. If you have never read them, try James Herriott’s books about his veterinary practice in Yorkshire. They are written in short chapters, so you can read a chapter at a time. And they are amazing — they will make you laugh, cry, and think about so many things. The series starts with “All Creatures Great and Small.” I think you would love them!
