1. Check out our peaches! Caleb and I picked 91 of them. We counted.

2. A few weeks ago Ashton Kucher have this speech. It was great. I heard many critics saying he was just promoting his movie or he was channeling his Steve Jobs character. I say, why does everyone always questions intention?  My take was this was just Ashton trying to embark some of his wisdom to the youth in a very relevant and relatable way for them. Excellent job Ashton and I believe in your words and ways to success and happiness.

3.  I love mountain biking. I am nowhere near this caliber of a rider but it is awesome to watch. Here are a couple of angles.

4. Caleb and I rode up the tram at Snowbird this week and we got stuck for about an hour due to lightning. Caleb wasn’t scared at all. He had a great time and when we got back down everyone clapped and Caleb yelled, “We did it!”

5. I am preparing to hike the Grand Teton next week with my friend Dallan. He is an incredible ultra marathon runner. Here is a picture from our training. This is me repelling off a 100+ foot cliff. Scary!

Hers

1. First of all, sorry we missed This and That last week. I totally spaced it! I woke up at 2 a.m. last Thursday in a panic. I woke Josh up and told him we needed to do our This and That, but he told me to go back to sleep. I couldn’t fall back asleep, so I got some work done and worked out, but there was no way Josh was going to wake up to write his thoughts, so we bagged it. Sorry! We are happy to be back this week!

2. Cinnamon rolls and sugar cookies combined? These bars look too good to be true!

4. Caleb knows how to pick out a good melon!

plums

5. Our plum and peach tree have taken over our lives. We have been eating them all day, every day! Sometimes in cake form.

6. Want to make a pretty lattice pie crust? My friend Ali is going to make sure you succeed. Check out her post!

7. I love swinging at the park, but since Caleb needs to be pushed, I always get stuck doing the dirty work. Lately, Caleb will give me a big kiss in between every push. I guess pushing isn’t so bad.

8. I am craving peanut butter this week. Especially cupcakes and ice cream sandwiches.

9. One reason I wake up early to run. I would hate to sleep through this view.

10. I can’t stop making and eating these cookies.

  1. I always miss home after I read your posts. Salt Lake (and Utah) has so many wonderful things to offer! Great pictures!

  2. Hi!
I follow your blog. I love the food that you’re cooking. Thank you for sharing your life with us. I love it!
    Best,
    Aviaja
PS I live in Greenland 🙂

  3. For delicious cinnamon rolls- the Bunnery Bakery & Restaurant in Jackson. Good luck on the grand! My husband climbed the north ridge a few weeks ago!

  4. My family goes to Jackson Hole every year. This year I tried the Snake River Brewery and it was so good. The Merry Piglets is good. If you’re going up into Teton, the pizzeria at Leeks Marina is really good. It’s about a mile north of Colter Bay. The Bar J Chuckwagon is also good, it’s a Cowboy Show and dinner, but I think they close Labor Day.

I love the hikes in Grand Teton. We have the Falcon Guide to the Best Easy Day Hikes in Grand Teton and it’s a great resource.

  5. The pictures you take are SO beautiful. I live in Canada, it is really hard to grow peaches in my backyeard, so I am envious. 🙂

Your kitchen is so crisp and classic. I am done with the dark, espresso colored kitchens.

  6. Thank you so much for linking to our simple + healthy school lunches…my kids sure loved them! 🙂

  7. What kind of peach tree to you guys have? We’re getting ready to plant one this fall and aren’t sure which kind we want.

  8. Thanks for introducing me to Ashton’s speech. I hadn’t caught it before. Good stuff to think about. On a side note, the watermelon and corn on the cob photo looks amazing, and I only wish I had fresh peaches and plums to pick!

  9. Hi Maria!
Quick question about your peach & plum trees. Were they already there when you bought the house or did you plant them? How long did it take to produce? Just curious about your experience with the fruit trees! Thanks much!
    Amy

    1. The plum tree was already in our backyard. We planted the peach tree 3 years ago. This is the first year we’ve gotten a lot of peaches.

  10. Thanks for sharing the school lunch ideas! I’m always looking for something new to send the kids. They get tired of the same old pb&j sandwich every day.

  11. Your kitchen is gorgeous! Makes the space so much brighter. Also, I love that you have a plum and peach tree. I would be in heaven!

  12. I’m with Josh on the whole Ashton thing – why can’t everyone be allowed to have good intentions? And even if he WAS promoting his new movie or whatever, the things he said were solid and will hopefully reach the ears that need to hear it!

    OK, down from soapbox. 😉

Can I please have your kitchen? Because I think I would be just the luckiest 😉

  13. Everything about Jackson, WY is awesome. We always stay in Teton Village which is about 14 miles from Jackson. The Tetons and landscape in general just makes me giddy. We always have to eat Q Roadhouse & Brewing. The buffalo burger is the best and I like how they offer brussels sprouts as a side choice.  They often have live music too. There is also a restaurant right next door called Calico Italian Restaurant which is good. There is a grassy area in between the two restaurants where kids can play lawn games. These two places are on Moose Wilson Rd, in between Jackson & Teton Village.  The Million Dollar Cowboy Bar is just fun to check out. The stools are actual saddles. Jenny Lake is a must. You have to Travel on Teton Park Rd.  You’ll love the town of Jackson. Our summer home in our dreams!

  14. I love how delighted Caleb is by the watermelon! I think we’ve eating more watermelons this summer than ever before and the one we had yesterday was as good as the first one of the summer! Thanks for the peanut butter shout out! Have a wonderful weekend!

  15. I followed the link and made the cinnamon roll sugar cookies yesterday and the fellows at work gave them a thumbs up today. I did find that I liked the texture better today than yesterday. I think the cookie might have picked up some moisture from the frosting.

  16. I used to live in Wyoming (Laramie) but I was 11. We did go to Grand Teton, but I mostly remember the amazing landscapes in Wyoming and all we did outdoors — hiking, sledding, ice skating. Josh, have a great time on your climb — loved the picture of you rappelling, wow! Also, it’s no wonder Caleb isn’t scared of stuff; it’s obvious what a secure, loving family you have created. Enjoy Wyoming!

  17. Did you plan those peach and plum trees yourself or were they already there when you bought the house? I was thinking of planting a fruit tree and wondered how easy and how long it was til you got fruit from it. You seem to have have a very successful season with it and your fruit looked gorgeous!

  18. I think that what you said made a great deal of sense.
However, think on this, suppose you added a little information?
I mean, I don’t want to tell you how to run your blog, but what if you added a headline to
possibly get people’s attention? I mean This and That |
Week 55 | Two Peas & Their Pod is kinda boring. You might look at Yahoo’s front page
and note how they create post headlines to get viewers
to click. You might add a related video or a related picture
or two to get people interested about everything’ve got to say.

Just my opinion, it might bring your posts a little livelier.
