1. All kind of emotions today. Excited to go to Hawaii but also very nervous and sad to be leaving our little buddy. I know he will have a blast with Papa, who is one righteous dude, but we will still miss him.

2. This is one slick kid. Have you seen this?

3. We have been using our outdoor fireplace a lot. Caleb and I like to sit in a chair by the fire and say “this is the life!” Here is a great picture of Caleb eating a S’mores treat.

4. Maria always lectures me on using less paper towels. I do need to make an effort to use less paper towels and this is a great idea.

5. I am looking for a new documentary to watch, any suggestions? Or how about a TED talk? I need something new.

6. I grew up with three brothers and this post made me laugh. So true! I am excited for a house full of boys. I hope Maria is ready!

Hers

1. Caleb got sick last week and over the weekend Josh and I came down with the flu. We were both in bed all weekend. Caleb may have watched a few too many episodes of Caillou. We are better now and I am so glad! And for the record, I don’t think pregnant women should be allowed to get sick. It’s just not fair!

2. 29 week baby bump and a giant Crispycake! Love these treats!

3. Someone slice me a BIG piece of this cake!

4. We still don’t have a name for our baby boy. I am having fun playing with this Baby Name Predictor! Caleb thinks we should name the baby Caillou:) I don’t that name will ever be popular!

5. Currently obsessed with this ice cream. It’s TOO good!

6. I love buying fun and colorful tea towels for our kitchen! Maybe I should make try making my own?

7. Clean sheets and sleeping with the windows open make me happy. Sometimes it’s the little things.

8. Perfect popsicles for Memorial Day! And don’t forget to make our potato salad-it’s the perfect side dish for the holiday!

9. Quote of the week.

10. All of my library requests came in at the same time! Which book should I read first?

11. We are leaving for Hawaii today, so those books will come in handy on the plane and beach! Josh and I are going alone for our babymoon! My dad came from Illinois to watch Caleb for us. He is the best! We’ve never went on a vacation without Caleb, we are going to miss him so much. I am looking forward to some R&R and fun in the sun with my handsome hubs! 1. I have a paper towel using problem, too, so clearly need to watch that TED Talk. Um, also I’ve never heard of a CrispyCake, but now I need one. For breakfast.

Have SOO much fun in Hawaii!!

  2. Have fun in Hawaii. I want to read the Union Street Bakery. I cannot wait to hear your thoughts on it.

  3. I am actually reading “The Longest Ride” right now too… down to 3 Nicholas Sparks book left to read before I’m done with all of them! Enjoy Hawaii! I had a ton of fun when I was there for 2 weeks following a deployment! Some things to find, if you’re in to them: chocolate covered macadamia nuts (YUM!!!!), Spam musubi (yes,it’s made with spam, but it is so good, and worth at least a try– Seven Eleven sells them), the last thing I would recommend would be the sushi down there and also Poke (po-kee), but considering you’re pregnant, maybe not?! Have a wonderful trip!!!

  4. Have a wonderful trip – my husband, daughter and I went to the Turks and Caicos last year. My daughter read The Storyteller in two days while lying on the beach. She loved it so much that I read it next – also in two days. Hubs jumped on the bandwagon – and by the end of the week, we had a mini book club going – all three of us loved it.

  5. Sorry you all were sick. My daughter has the flu right now. I like the paper towel video thanks for sharing. I would probably read Nicholas Sparks first. Have a great trip!

  6. I have a suggestion for a documentary to watch! I have watched Haute Cuisine (based on a true story, loved it, kind of documentary style), and Somm recently. Oh my goodness, Somm was fantastic. My boyfriend gave me control of Netflix for the night and rolled his eyes when I picked a documentary about becoming a Master Sommelier, but by the end we were both placing bets on who would pass the test and who we thought deserved it more and we both loved it! Highly recommend!

  7. Love your This & Thats! Have a great time in Hawaii…..go to the volcano tubes if possible, they’re cool. Also regarding the books, the Barbara O’Neal books are my favorites! Start that one on the plane and you’ll want to find more of hers! Have a safe trip and enjoy the relaxation……you’re going to need it!

  8. Have a WONDERFUL trip! It is SO SO hard to leave them, but its so great for your marriage to have a few days alone. Maria- you will not know what to do with yourself. I think I took extra good care of Josh on our vacation because I didn’t have Kaylin there to care for 😉

  9. I never know what to do when all my library books come in at once! As for Hawaii… hapuna beach is my favorite beach on the big island! And eat as many choc Mac nuts as you can!

  10. Hi guys!! Thank you so much for the shout out on my tea towels!! Enjoy Hawaii!! We’re going for 4th of July weekend and I’m counting down the days 🙂 xo

  11. Just read your blog…..loved the picture of Caleb and the post about the household with 4 boys….reminded me of growing up with almost all boy cousins…..out of 20 cousins 15 of them were boys….so I did alot of boy things ……like collect bugs of all kinds……catch black & brown tarantulas and fight them against each other…..and as I got older I went hunting with my cousins who taught me how to ride a horse, shoot a rifle, hunt deer, camp outdoors, take care of a variety of farm animals and alot more outdoorsy types of activities found on a farm or ranch.
So you are both off to Hawaii for one last vacation together before the baby arrives! My husband grew up in Hawaii and lived on the big island in Hilo where one of his sisters and brothers now live. He says make sure to go to “Parker Ranch”, the observatory located on highest point of the island, the falls near Hilo, black sands beach, the bakery where “Hawaiian Sweet Bread” originated from in Hilo and to mix with the locals as much as possible for they are the real heart of the island!
I will keep you both as well as Caleb and “Papa” in prayer while you are gone!
    Have an awesome time!

  12. The Union Street Bakery. I loved that book. I also love the 2nd book in the series. I can’t remember the title right now, but it is also good.

  13. Have a wonderful time in Hawaii! I have never been, but I wanted you to know we live an hour away from the Tillamook Cheese Factory and go there often to eat ice cream and watch them make cheese! We love Tillamook…they have the BEST dairy products made from real Oregon happy cows! 🙂

  14. For documentaries, I recommend a new food documentary called Fed Up. It focuses on sugar consumption in the American diet and the challenges we face on reducing added sugar in the foods we eat.
