We have some exciting news to share! No, we aren’t adding any peas to our pod, but we are building a pod! When I say pod, I mean a house! We are building a house!!

We are excited, anxious, stressed, overwhelmed, and EXCITED! Josh loves a good project and was tempted to take on our house project, but we decided we wanted to stay married and enjoy the process, so we hired Fox Group Construction. I fell in love with their Instagram account and told Josh we HAD to have them build our house. They have been wonderful to work with and I can’t wait to see the finished project.

The boys love going to our property to watch the trucks, tractors, and to play in the dirt:) Our foundation is finished and it is looking good!

We will be posting regular house updates on our blog and when it is finished you will all get the grand tour! And warning, I am not good at making decisions and there are A LOT of decisions to make when building a house, so I might be asking for your help from time to time.

And make sure you follow us on Instagram and snapchat (twopeasandpod) for behind the scenes footage. We will be using the hashtag #twopeashouse.

Have a great weekend!

  1. Congratulations, it will be an exciting, stressful, wonderful experience!!! Make sure your builder uses screws to hang your drywall, if they use nails you will eventually gets nail pops, not pretty… Best wishes- Sharon

  2. How exciting for you and your family. It looks like you are in the mountains. What state do you live in?

  3. It is so fun to build a home but so stressful as well. I checked out the Fox Group homes…just gorgeous. From the looks of the foundation, I am guessing you have chosen The Country Club model? The interior finishes are stunning. Enjoy the ride and all the decisions!

  4. how exciting!!! what a GORGEOUS view – wow! wouldn’t mind looking out at those mountains everyday. Hope the building of your house goes very smoothly – they said building a house is the #1 stressful thing to do!! Hopefully your husband lives by “happy wife, happy life” and agrees to everything you love! lol can’t wait to see the finished pics including the kitchen!! woohoo good luck and congrats

    1. We love the mountains! Luckily, Josh and I have similar taste so hopefully we will agree on most things. If we don’t, I hope to get my way…ha! 🙂

  5. Congratulations!!

Regarding screws; I’ll add to make sure your builders use them on all outdoor decking and rails and wooden privacy fences too!! It will alleviate ‘nail popping’ for both, possible future ‘squeaks’ on the deck and makes it a much easier and cleaner job if any of the boards ever need to be replaced 😉

  6. Congratulations! My hubby and I built a custom home a year and a half ago and though it was A LOT of work, it was SO worth it. We could not be happier! Good luck and have fun with the whole process!!

  7. How wonderful! You’re right, you will be making a lot of decisions. Relax and enjoy the process!

  8. Congrats on building a new house we did it five years ago make sure you have more outlets than you think you will need that is the only thing I would change add more outlets everywhere!!

  9. Wow, a dream come true for you and Josh. Looks like a full basement, a good place for a playroom for the boys. I bet your boys are loving all the fresh dirt to play in, my grandsons love dirt.
I will look forward to seeing the progress.

  10. In addition to outlets (one on every wall is helpful, far more in the kitchen), do plan for lots of closets Hardwood and tile floors are a very good idea, too. Good luck. Beautiful site from your pictures!

  11. How exciting?!?! Congratulations! We are remodeling our kitchen and there are so many decisions. I cannot imagine a whole house.

  12. How cool! Are you in the same area you live in now? The view looks spectacular! I have a view like that from my home in Utah!

  13. Hi Maria! I’ve been waiting for this news! I work with your mom, so I knew it was coming. We started building our own custom home last year at this time. We moved in in early April. Yes, it was super stressful, and like you, I’m decision-averse. In many cases, I had my husband weed out the options and then had him let me pick from 3-4 choices as opposed to hundreds. We LOVE our kitchen. I’m the one who was having your mom pass along questions to you regarding the 36″ Kitchenaid dual fuel gas range/oven. We splurged in it and we also have a wall oven/microwave combo. I’m in heaven. I joked that we’ll have to eat a lot of home-cooked meals to make up for that splurge, but I’m game!

    1. Hi Kristy-congratulations on your new home! I am so glad you like your KitchenAid appliances! We can’t wait to move into our home! Hopefully, I will be able to make some good decisions:)

  14. Congrats on your new house. I think you will have a lot of fun. We built our last house and love it.

  15. I was looking at the web site of the construction company building your house, and I realized I went to Junior High and High School with the owners. I thought it was funny. I am the same age as Tom, and I used to have a big crush on Bill. Good luck with your house. Sounds exciting!
