Our New Farm Dining Table

When we remodeled our kitchen, we knew we needed a new dining room table. We searched for months and never found anything we loved. Luckily, we came in contact with a local furniture maker/designer, Patrick Davis, who builds custom farm tables. We met with him in December and fell in love with his work. We told him we wanted a rustic, solid wood, farm table with two large benches. We saw a few previews along the way and every time I got more excited about our table.

On Saturday, we got the call that our table was finished and was ready to be delivered. The table is perfect, just what we had in mind. The base of the table is built out of wood from an old bridge that collapsed over the Great Salt Lake. How cool is that? I love that our table has a story behind it. It is rustic, solid, and has lots of character. The dark wood contrasts nicely with the white cabinets and floors. We love it!

I love the design underneath the table and benches. It adds a little something extra. We plan on buying two chairs for both ends, but we have to find the right ones. I am on the hunt! We are glad we have more space for our guests. Come dine with us anytime!

  9. I can’t believe something so simple is so gorgeous. I gave one very similar to this away from my mom’s house, but the stain was golden oak, and ugly, never thought it could be so pretty in a dark stain in the right setting. I have to have one of these now, I wonder if I can talk hubby into it if i distress it and stain it?

  10. That is absolutely GORGEOUS! I love that it’s custom-made. Don’t tell Pottery Barn, but your table is way more beautiful than anything I’ve seen in their store! 🙂

  13. We had a dining room table made for us too! This local company uses wood reclaimed from within 10 miles of Seattle. I LOVE it. We are going to have a bench made at some point too but for now we just got really good (and relatively inexpensive) chairs at Crate and Barrel. Congrats on a beautiful piece!

    1. Custom tables are the best! We are loving ours so far. I will have to look at Crate and Barrel for two end chairs. Thanks Dana!

  22. When you say Bridge over the Great Salt Lake, do you mean the Lucin Cutoff Railroad Trestle? There’s a pretty cool exhibit at the Ogden railroad museum about that wood along with the rest of US Railroad history. They also have the Browning Classic Car and Rifle history museums there as well.
Where can I see more from this table maker?

    1. I am not sure on the exact bridge, but I can ask. Patrick doesn’t have a website yet, but is working on one. He makes a lot of furniture for CG Sparks. It is a store downtown SLC.

  23. It’s lovely Maria. From what I can see it has some sturdy legs, most important part of a table! Ask me, i have 4 kids LOL I have a big farmhouse type table too, with one bench and 4 chairs. It’s the best and most sturdy we’ve ever had.

  24. Love the table. Particularly like the contrast of wood colors also. Aren’t you afraid of the benches scratching or marring the finish on the floor. One contractor down and two to go on remodeling my den and kitchen.

  25. Gorgeous, stunning, exactly what I would want!!! I love your house!! (and I haven’t even seen all of it yet, lol!) YET!!
