Strawberry Mango Salad Recipe on twopeasandtheirpod.com This simple and healthy salad is perfect for summertime!

It snowed in Utah on Monday. My pretty purple lilacs were weighed down with heavy snow. I was not happy, but luckily the snow has melted. The sun is shining again and I hope it is here to stay. I made this strawberry mango jicama salad because is screams summer and I am ready for warm weather.

This salad is a perfect side dish to any summer meal. The strawberries and mango are juicy, sweet, and vibrant. The  jicama provides a nice crunch to this simple salad. The cilantro and lime are the perfect finish to this bright and exquisite salad.

I think I will make a big bowl of this strawberry mango and jicama salad for our Memorial Day barbeque. What are your favorite bbq sides?

  1. What a colorful dish! Perfect for a bbq. I love the crunch of jicama. Sorry about the snow- hopefully that was the last one of the season for you. Favorite bbq side dish- grilled corn, baked beans, fruit salad!

  2. I love jicama. Definitely would love this salad with all the sweet flavor. Beautiful colors, too!

  3. I can’t believe it snowed there – just crazy! When Dara tweeted that, it was in the 80s here!

Another great salad! I love any type of salad for BBQs…ones that scream fresh and keep you coming back for more – like this one! 😉 I also like lighter pasta/rice salads – ones with vinaigrettes rather than creamy/mayo dressings.

  4. I was seriously bummed about the snow, but most of my garden seems to be okay. (Not sure about a couple of tiny tomato plants though.)

The salad looks great! I like the idea of using jicama in a salad with fruit, great combination.

  5. This is a perfect sweet salad for Memorial Day. I have a lot of friends who are always watching their weight and this is perfect! Thanks!

  6. Definitely some sort of slaw is always a fave, but the tops would have to be potato salad. This one could edge that out, though!

  7. Maria, lovely fresh and bright salad. Perfect for spring & summer. I hope your snow has passed!

  8. My Grandmother was obsessed with jicima when I was a teenager 🙂 She always made us eat it. This is a simple salad idea that I know she would love!

  9. We so often get the same weather that SLC does…but not this time. I’m with you…we’ve had a cold, wet spring and it’s time for some warmth!

I always look forward to warm weather and an opportunity to make my favorite avocado/tomato/mozzarella/basil pasta salad…so yummy. And I love a mexican rice dish with serrano peppers and cilantro dressing too; can be served at room temp so not only good but one of those things you can transport or set out and not have to worry about!

  10. I think I would cry if it suddenly snowed, seriously!

I’ve only ever had jicama in a few dishes, but I love it. This is so easy and so BRIGHT–definitely keeping this in mind for future potlucks 🙂

  11. The weather here is strange too this year! I can imagine by now you are sick of the snow. This salad is so bright and colorful. Great idea with the jicama.

  12. I’ve never used Jicama in a salad before, but I do love it. Sounds like a great flavor combination.

  13. This salad looks so refreshing and delicious! I’ve never had Jicama but I saw it in the store the other day and almost bought it. Now that I see this recipe I’ll definitely have to give Jicama a try!

  14. Oh, I love this! I have jicama in the fridge that I need to use, so maybe this will be on our table soon. Great recipe.

  15. Snow at the end of May! Ridiculous. And uncalled for. At least you have some delicious salsa to eat. So pretty!

  16. My favorite BBQ sides are my mom’s potato salad and creamy corn. Growing up in Texas you hardly ever find any BBQ side as bright and beautiful as your salad…and not to mention healthy.

  17. I love jicama. This looks like a great combination. Maybe I’ll bring it to my brother’s barbecue this weekend if I can find the time to cook up another salad.

Sorry about the snow! I hate having snow just when you think spring has sprung. When I was on vacation last week I arrived on a 70-degree day and when I left at the end of the week, it was snowing. It made me happy to go home. Now the temps are in the 90s and I’m missing my chilly vacation!

  18. What a lovely combination of fresh, clean flavors. 🙂 So glad your snow melted!! Bring on spring!!!

  19. No snow here just rain, rain, rain. This salad looks bright, healthy, and delicious. I bet the jicama gave it a great texture.

  26. Wow! Your photos are awesome. The lighting is great..is it usually natural or do you use a flash or light box? Either way, awesome! This recipe looks delicious too =)

  27. Could you believe that snow storm? I love jicima, but sometimes it is so hard to cut, especially if it is extra large. I have so many favorite side dishes for BBQ’s . . but I do love the cowboy bean dish with chips. It’s always a hit and I always come home with an empty dish. Have a great weekend.

  28. What a refreshing salad! The sweetness of the strawberries and mango would pair nicely with the neutral flavor of the jicama.

  29. This looks so refreshing. I wish I could hunt down some jicama. I’ve never been able to find any and it sounds delish. My favorite side? Corn on the cob. 😀

This salad looks like a great pick me up though!

  31. This looks great… I have only ever had jicama in a slaw before, but I think it would be wonderful in this salad. I’ll have to keep my eyes out for some jicama so that I can make this!

  32. What a riot of colours.

And mangoes- its a crime to remind an Indian of mangoes at this time of the year. Especially if they are away from home. Sigh.

  34. What scrumptious color mmmmm. I have never used jicama before. You have me intrigued 🙂

  35. Strawberries and mangoes – I have not tried that combination before – because generally mangoes are available in summer and fresh strawberries in spring. Anyway, I am going to try out your recipe. Thanks for the great share.

  36. I LOVE THIS RECIPE!!
It was my first taste of jicama and I fell for it! I have sub the mango for papaya one time and the strawberries for peaches another time. Just working with what I have! The strawberries give it beautiful color. But both ways taste amazing! As well as the original! Thank you so much for sharing this recipe!

  37. This salad looks lovely, but I despise cilantro! Really, really, despise it! What can I substitute for it? Thanks, and I love your site.

  38. Simple, clean and delicious!  Strawberries are back at the farmer’s market now, so I’ll have to give this a try!Â
