  1. I usually love all your comments on This and That but I cringe at the Oprah remark. Pictures abound of her shoulder to shoulder with Weinstein. Why choose the Golden Globes to make her declaration of women’s safety and not earlier, much, much earlier. Who knows, with all her power and influence, she may have been able to stop his sexual attacks on women sooner.

  2. Maxwell is so cute up on the tractor.

Maria – I haven’t tried it yet but I have heard tremendous things about the Nars Foundation. I have tried the “Makeup Forever” Ultra HD Invisible Cover Foundation and I absolutely love it! It really depends on how much coverage you want as to what kind of foundation to buy.

  3. We just bought a Traeger Timberline and are working our way through smoking all the things! Still need to try ribs.

  4. I also find Oprah’s comments to be sheer hypocrisy. She, like Meryl Streep, has known about Weinstein’s proclivities for decades, yet now, when there is nothing to lose, suddenly becomes “brave” and speaks out. Where were all of them 30 years ago? Can you imagine how many lives would have been changed if someone like Oprah had brought this to light instead of kissing up to Weinstein in order to get her next movie produced? And let’s not forget that standing ovation for serial pedophile/rapist Roman Polanski. Why would anyone think that was okay?

  5. I love Laura Mercier! I’ve recommended it to several friends and they love it too.  I use the tinted illuminating moisturizer because I want a lighter look.  Try it!

  6. I highly recommend you check out Beautycounter! Full disclosure, I’m a consultant and would love to help you if you have any questions. But, before I fell in love with the products and mission, I started as just a customer looking for safer cosmetics and personal care products. I was not a foundation person before but I now LOVE Beautycounter’s Tint Skin Foundation. It’s light weight, has buildable coverage and wears well all day long. And maybe best of all, it is paraben free, phthalate free and free of 1500+ other harmful ingredients frequently found in our cosmetics.

  7. I like Laura Geller’s baked foundation. It is in a compact and applied like powder with a brush. I like its ease of application and the coverage.

  8. We were having the same issue with our Alexa and when I googled it, people recommended moving it further away from other things… I tried this and it totally fixed it. Looks like it needs a wide berth. Strange was that it seemed to happen gradually, maybe just because its 2 years old. Try that and see if it helps!

I read your this and that every week! Thank you for sharing!

  9. Love that picture of Maxwell on the tractor! He looks like he’s having a blast. Also, try Tarte foundation. It is full coverage, but feels nice on the skin. Love your This and That posts each week. Thanks for keeping up with them!

  10. wow, saw the ribs and had to take a look since they seemed smoked, now I get it, a smoker, looks really nice, hadn’t even thought of one, would be perfect for these, thank you for the smoker inspiration and for the other links, adorable boy on the tractor!
