His

  • Kind of a bummer of a week because Maxwell broke his wrist. It happened when we were skiing but he didn’t break it skiing. He was goofing around and jumped onto a big snow bank and landed wrong. He is a tough dude and doing well with his cast. He even signed his own name, ha!
  • The Best Diners in America. I love a good diner.
  • It’s NBA All-Star weekend and it’s always fun to watch. The boys are excited for the dunk contest.
  • Interesting.
  • The boys are really into card games right now. What are your favorites? We play Uno ALL of the time. I am ready to change it up.

Hers

  • New this week, my new favorite granola, a family favorite dinner, and a sweet breakfast!
  • Do you have any fun plans for Valentine’s Day tomorrow? We never go out, I prefer celebrating at home. I think we will make dinner with the boys, watch a family movie, and eat chocolate cake for dessert!
  • Such a pretty top!
  • I can’t wait to check out this book!
  • Dreaming of warm weather and loving this classic swimsuit.
  • To All The Boys: P.S. I Still Love You is out on Netflix and I can’t wait to watch it this weekend. I loved the first movie!
  • Stunning dress!
  • These sound too good to be true!
  • When you have a box of assorted chocolates, do you take a bite of each and put them back or is that just me? 🙂
  • I heart this necklace!
  • Made this for dinner last night and I can’t wait to eat the leftovers for lunch!

  1. Card game: I have two boys similar in age to yours and we BURNED out on Uno. For Christmas, I bought Taco, Cat, Goat, Cheese, Pizza….weird name but oh so fun! Not a card game but we also play the board game Blokus just about every night lately.

  2. I made your flourless chocolate cake for my neighbors last week…early Valentine’ s Day treat because I needed to stress bake and they are always willing to accept the results thereof.
I actually divided the cake into two 41/2 inch spring form pans and one 31/2 inch pan. I love that you gave a internal temp to test doneness so these little cakes came out perfectly. I flooded the top with chocolate ganache and toped with tiny sprinkle hearts…so cute. The cakes got rave reviews but I already knew they would because I kept and ate the littlest cake.
Happy Valentine’s day to you and the whole family!

  3. I love playing slap jack and go fish. Even my 10 and 9 year old grandsons like it.
I can’t wait to make your chocolate cake, it looks so devine.

  4. The Grandpa Beck’s games are my favorite — Nuts about Mutts might be perfect for your boys? But soon enough I’ll bet they can learn Cover Your Assets – that one is the best!

  5. Cut each of the chocolates you want to try, don’t bite? Just cut with a knife-someone else can still try one.

  6. hey y’all- great list! so sorry for Maxwell- He will be ok though. Growing up we always liked Old Maid! Such a cool card game- Have a great weekend! Happy Valentine’s Day!!!

  7. No, I learned a MUCH better way to eat chocolates without trying half and then putting them back. I was newly married and every Christmas my exes family would buy a pound of See’s chocolates. I would grab a chocolate and cut it or bite into it and then decide I didn’t like it and throw it away. My then husbands grandmother saw me doing that and said “what are you doing? You just stick your nail into the bottom of the chocolate to see what it is and if you don’t like it you put the chocolate back and nobody knows what you did!”

  8. Don’t all chocolates come with a little card that shows what’s inside each chocolate? Really? You actually take a bite and put it back? Or stick your nail in it? Just yuck!

    1. Not all boxes do and if it is my box of chocolates I am fine taking a bite and putting it back…or if I don’t like it, I throw it out. If it is a shared box of chocolates, obviously I don’t touch and bite them all. But if I am gifted a box of chocolates for ME, I like to sample them all:)

  9. We love Phase 10! There is a card and a dice version, and both are fun. I second any of the various versions of Spot It as well. They are great fun for kids and adults.

Also, if you’re looking for a different kind of board game, Ticket to Ride Jr. is super fun.

  10. Wishing Maxwell a speedy recovery! My father in law taught my then 8 yo, black jack. My now 9 yo enjoys math up to 21! Win-win for our home.

  11. For card games check out Slamwich, exploding kittens and sleeping queens…all favorites of my 6 and 8 yr olds! Definitely making the chocolate chip pancakes and baked ziti is my most favorite comfort food!!!!
