Every Thursday, we share what we are loving, what we have been up to, what we’ve been cooking, and SO much more! We hope you enjoy this week’s edition of This and That! Happy Thursday!

HIS

  • The boys are sad football season is over so we went over to the local HS field to play.
  • I love donuts, but I am going to pass on these.
  • I just finished reading The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe with the boys so we are going to watch the movie.
  • Foods to help kids sleep. The boys always want a snack before bed, these are good options.
  • This is going down for dinner tonight.

HERS

  • New this week, a simple salad we make all of the time, a delicious dinner, and a cookie recipe you are going to love!
  • Ordering this jacket for spring.
  • I finished Inventing Anna, very interesting show that’s based on a true story. If you are a Friday Night Lights fan, you have to listen to this week’s podcast episode. Spoiler alert, #33!
  • This pie is a beauty!
  • This dress looks comfortable and I LOVE this one for summer.
  • Has anyone read this book? I might start it this weekend.
  • Cute top and I love this sweater.
  • Does anyone own a cookie scoop that they LOVE? I have this one and it’s ok, but I want a perfect cookie scoop that doesn’t get stuck and creates the most perfect cookie dough balls. I usually hand roll my cookie dough balls right now because I get so frustrated. I think I need to create the perfect cookie scoop:)
  • Currently loving this for lunch. What do you usually eat for lunch?
  • I love the size of this bag and this one is a summer must!
  • Tips for reducing mealtime stress. Foraging nights are fun and sometimes our favorite meal of the week! And of course, we have LOTS of dinner ideas for you:)
  • Adding these to my kitchen.

  1. I commented last week asking you to be a little more descriptive in your links… THANK YOU, it made reading this weeks more cohesive and I was better able to click links (and bought the book to read with you) something I didn’t do before!

    Have a great week!!

  2. PLEASE create that perfect cookie scoop!! Prominently marked with the size or labelled – cookie, muffin, mini-muffin!!!

  3. I’m always looking for a good book to read. The book I enjoyed lately was THE BOOK WOMAN OF TROUBLESOME CREEK by Michele Richardson.

  4. Finlay is the BEST!!!

ALL the Oxo scoops are fantastic. My favorite is #40 (medium) for cookie dough – I use it for all your cookies very successfully!

  5. I have used the Pampered Chef scoopers for years and love them. They come in 3 sizes and I use them all, depending on the size cookie I’m making.

  6. I loved Finley Donovan is Killing It – great characters and a fun story. Her second book in the series is out and I will be reading it during March.

  7. I like the cookie scoops sold at King Arthur Baking Co. I have used them for year for cookies and find the various sizes are useful; they release easily and are easy to clean.

  8. hey y’all- great list! Yummy food. love the pic of the football field with the mountains in the background. so pretty!!

  9. I love arugula mixed with a protein and roasted veggies, usually with Tessamae’s
Lemon garlic dressing. I also do canned salmon with cucumbers, shredded carrots, pickled onions, cabbage. I always add Gorgonzola crumbles and seasonings like garlic salt and lemon pepper. 🙂

  10. I’ve had the sm & lg Pampered Chef cookie scoops for years and they’ve always worked well. Last fall I bought a medium sized OXO scoop and was very disappointed at how poorly it released cookie dough. I’ll definitely be replacing it with PC when I get a chance.

  11. I totally agree with your problem with cookie scoops! I have tried many, and for all of them the little piece of metal that is supposed to push the cookie dough out always gets stuck when using it with denser cookie doughs. After reading a number of reviews about the best cookie scoops, I purchased a trio of OXO ones in different sizes, but I still experienced the same problem – they work well for portioning loose batters (i.e. muffins), but they still don’t seem to work well for thick cookie doughs. That tiny piece of metal to pop the cookie dough out is just not sturdy enough. So like you, I have pretty much given up on them as well. I would love it if someone created a better quality design!

    1. The struggle is REAL! I can’t find a good one that releases well and makes the perfect ball shape. Or the scoop will work for a week and then you have to press it like 5 times to get the dough to come out or wash it several times during scooping. I need to make my own:)
