1. I’ve been riding my mountain bike a lot and when I get home I like to have a smoothie. Caleb always asks for a sip. Love his mustache!

2. You won’t find me doing this, but it’s pretty neat. I have been fascinated with flying most my life but and have loved watching these guys learn to fly.

3. Caleb loves talking to his brother.  This week he lifted up Maria’s shirt and asked if we could take the lid off. He said he wanted to peek at his baby brother. Ha! He is hilarious.

4. I am normally not a soccer fan, but I’ve been cheering on the U.S. during the World Cup. Sunday’s game was exciting, but ended up being a bummer.

5. Caleb got a summer haircut this week. He’s looking mighty handsome.

6. Our This and That posts currently go on our “On the Side” page…they never appear on the main page. We did this to keep the recipes and lifestyle topics separate, but we are thinking about putting our weekly This and That posts on the main page so they are easier to find. What do you think? How about our travel and giveaway posts, do you want to see those on the main page too? Do you have a preference? Thanks for the help!

1. Wheeeee! It’s officially summer! What are you loving about summer so far?

2. I went to my 34 week appointment this week. All is well and the baby has dropped a little. His head is down too, let’s just hope it stays that way! 6 weeks to go!

3. I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream!

4. I hurt my wrist last week. I am not exactly sure how it happened, I think it’s just from overuse. The tendon in my right wrist is swollen, the proper term is De Quervain’s tendonitis. All I know is that it HURTS! I try to use my left hand as much as I can, but I use my right hand for everything-cooking, typing, picking up Caleb, etc. I guess when you are pregnant it is harder for these injuries to heal due to blood flow, etc. Lucky me!

5. I want to eat these all day long!

6. I read two books this week. Yeah, I was feeling lazy:) If you are looking for a new book to read this summer check this one and this one out! Very different books but I liked them both!

7. Life is just a bowl of cherries!

8. I want this sandwich in my belly right now!

9. I am finally done traveling! Since the first week of May, I’ve been to New York, Florida, Hawaii, Minnesota, and Austin. Whew! This pregnant mama is exhausted! The trips were all fun, but I am looking forward to some time at home before this baby comes. We are going to try and get ahead on our recipes, so if there is anything you want to see on the blog in the next few months, let us know!

10. I am not sure if this French toast is breakfast or dessert. Either way, I WANT it!

11. So we watched the first episode of Orange is the New Black and am I missing something? Everyone has told us how great this show is, but I didn’t like it one bit. Maybe it’s because I have always had a fear of going to prison. Don’t worry, I am not involved in anything illegal and don’t plan on it, but I have always been afraid of being put behind bars in an orange jumpsuit. I think we will try a different show. Any suggestions?

  1. I really enjoy your This & That posts–especially the pictures. Caleb’s haircut is so cute.

I searched your blog and don’t see any mention of “Call the Midwife” so that’s my TV recommendation for you. I believe there have been 3 seasons so far.

  2. Love these posts — and Caleb is growing up so quickly! What a handsome little man he is. Hope your wrist feels better soon, Maria! Have you tried a brace or splint?

  3. I enjoyed Orange is the New Black, but I too felt it was missing something. I realized it was that I didn’t really like Piper, the main character, and a show about her just kind of annoyed me. I did continue to watch though, and the main draw for me was each supporting character revealing more of her background and story. They were fantastic and I found myself just waiting to move away from Piper and get back to the other people. If you continue watching, see if they pull you in more! Otherwise, get into House of Cards, Sherlock, New Girl, and Mindy Project (a bit of an eclectic list).

  4. If you missed out on watching the Fargo TV series that was on FX, I highly recommend finding those episodes. Top notch writing and acting. If you liked the movie, you’ll enjoy the series (new characters and plot but definitely inspired by the movie).
Glad you enjoyed your visit to Austin. I would have said hello if I happened to have seen you out and about 🙂

  5. Doesn’t matter which page you put the this and that on, I always read it 🙂 Love little man’s haircuts. Kaylin has been sharing fruit smoothies almost nightly with Josh too. Hope your wrist gets better Maria!!!

  6. You crack me up that you’re scared of going to prison. I mean, it’s a totally legit fear, don’t get me wrong.. it just made me laugh! I don’t really “get” OITNB either…
    And Bev’s breakfast sandwich..oh yes!

  7. I would recommend Downton Abbey and Mr. Selfridge, both British shows that aired on PBS, but are available on Amazon Instant Video. Love them! Downton Abbey is currently filming Season 5 and Mr. Selfridge Season 3.

  8. As always, I love your book suggestions! I personally would love to see This and That posts, along with travel and giveaway posts on the main page of the blog…but that’s just my opinion!

  9. Orange is the New Black was originally a book and is really good! Pretty different from the show. I’d read the book instead. I read it a few years ago. I agree with Downton Abbey, love that show!

I think it’s a good idea to have the giveaways and this and that on the main page.

  10. I always enjoy these posts. I read them from the Feedly link so either way on where to put them. I started Orange is the New Black this week and I’ve gotten into it. I think mostly because it’s been a while since I was really into a TV show.

  11. It can be both breakfast OR dessert! Haha! 🙂 Thanks so much Maria!

PS. I always die over your Caleb pictures. Too cute for words, especially with that smoothie mustache! 🙂

  12. Love Calebs haircut…..he’s going to be such a good big brother! On the book end of subjects, I recommend more of Barbara O’Neals books. I have read all of them and they are all excellent. Happy nesting!

  13. I’d give OITNB a few more tries – part of the beauty is getting to know all the characters; it’s such a unique show in that we rarely get to see lives like these fully lived.

  14. I just finished The Storyteller and I LOVED it. I bought the latest John Sandford novel to take on vacation in August but don’t know if I can keep myself from reading it right away. I love his character, Lucas Davenport.

Caleb is such a cutie. Thanks for sharing him with us.

  15. Caleb’s haircut is adorable! I would love to see this and that on the main page. Hope your wrist feels better soon.

  16. I have Friday night plans to watch Orange is the New Black. I wonder what I will think/=?

  17. The first few episodes of Orange is the New Black are too full of Piper’s story- she is rather annoying in my opinion. I’m only about 5 or 6 episodes in and the stories have gotten much more interesting. Give it a few episodes!

  18. Love your “this & that” posts, I have tried searching for them before & didn’t know about the on the side. It would be handy to have it all under one 🙂 I love love love Call the Midwife, the books are also excellent (esp being pg, they’ll be a tear jerker for sure 😉 ). My hubby was like no way I’m not watching that show, but by the end of Season 3 he was into it too. I also am a huge fan of Mr. Selfridge & we like watching Bomb Girls on FX. Best of Luck on the next 6 weeks!

  19. If you haven’t watched 24 and are ready for the best action and thrill of your life I would recommend you watch it! 🙂

  20. I don’t mind if the This and That stays “on the side.” I know where to find it, although, I usually just read it from the email, so it’s really easy to find then!

I love reading your stories about your family. I’ve love watching Caleb grow up, from a distance. I’m looking forward to seeing the new baby pea grow up, too!

Sorry about the wrist thing. That doesn’t sound like fun. At my job, I have to push pills out of a card for many people. My right thumb doesn’t particularly like that, either!

I think we need to buy some Rainier cherries soon! They are so yummy!

We often make your recipes and they are delicious!

  21. I read Orange is the New Black when it first came out but I also just watched one episode of the show and didn’t like it…

  22. I have de quervain’s and the only thing that helps me is a brace. When it flares up I wear a brace as much as I can especially to bed. I had to try a few but found a big full wrist ugly nor that helps. Also if you cross your arms a lot have your right arm as the front arm so the wrist is not bent. Hard to explain hope you understand. Email me if you want a better explanation haha. Hope it calms down soon.

  23. I have the same tendinitis that you have, and I have actually been icing it all day today. This dang blogging job sure doesn’t help the situation yeah?
But seriously, I have some exercises and instructions from a physical therapist that helped to relieve the pain within about 24-48 hours a couple months ago. If you’d like, I can email them to you. Just shoot me an email if you’d like it, and I’d be happy to share.

  24. My recommendation for a series to watch is Suits. Now in its 4th season, it has drama, interesting characters and good story lines. Available on Itunes and Amazon stream

  25. Caleb is just the cutest! So glad your pregnancy is going great! I hope your wrist feels better soon!

  26. That first picture of Caleb smiling big with his smoothie mustache is just TOO adorable. He is just the cutest/sweetest looking little boy!! You guys must just have such a fun time and life with him. I’m sure there’s lots n lots of hugs and smoochies goin on in the Lichty house for sweet lil Caleb!! ; )

I have two girls, (and I’m done having kids) so I am always so curious about the differences between raising little boys and raising little girls is….Everytime I see your adorable pics of your son, I just smile and chuckle because he’s just so stinking cute!

Guacamole is on my “to make” list! Oh yeah! Yum! Thank you!! Have a great weekend guys!

    1. Caleb is a lot of fun! We can’t wait for him to meet his brother! Have a great weekend!

  27. When my nephew, Michael, was 2 1/2, my sister-in-law was pregnant with our second nephew. Michael looked down his mom’s shirt and asked if the baby could come out and play. So cute that Caleb wants to see his baby brother.

  28. I’m glad I’m not alone in hating Orange is the New Black. I don’t watch TV, but on Netflix some of the old reruns are fun, and the Dick Van Dyke Show, from the 1960s, is still hilarious all these years later. (And not a gross-out.)

  29. Yes please put “This and That” on the main page! Gives your page more immediate personality.

  30. I am just now catching up on your blog – you look so cute! I can’t wait for your #2 to make his arrival! I just got home last week from 2 weeks in Illinois – wish you would have been there! And Caleb is a doll. Ok – enough from
