With just a few simple ingredients and minimal effort, you can have a delicious homemade lasagna on the table in no time. I like to use spinach cheese ravioli, but feel free to use plain cheese or meat ravioli. And even better news? You don’t even have to boil the ravioli. Just put it in the pan with marinara sauce, cheese, and bake! So easy!
This ravioli lasagna is so easy to pair with a variety of sides. Try serving it with a simple green salad, garlic bread, or roasted vegetables for a well-rounded meal.
And if you have leftovers (or if you’re making it in advance), it freezes wonderfully, making it perfect for meal prep or sharing with loved ones who could use a comforting, homemade dish. Whether it’s for a friend who’s under the weather or a busy family, this lasagna is an excellent meal to deliver with love and care.
Maria’s Tips for Success!
- Ravioli Flavors: I like to use spinach and cheese, but meat or plain cheese ravioli work well too! Use your favorite brand.
- No need to thaw: You can use the ravioli straight from the freezer—no boiling required!
- Customize it: Add a layer of cooked ground beef or sausage between layers if you want a meaty version.
- Go veggie: Mix in some fresh or frozen spinach between layers for a little green. You can also add cooked mushrooms, zucchini, or peppers!
- Crispy top: If you want a golden-brown, crispy cheese topping, broil for 2–3 minutes at the end of the baking time.
Easy Ravioli Lasagna

- 2 (25 oz) jars marinara sauce
- 40 oz frozen cheese ravioli (or beef or spinach cheese)
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/3 cup chopped fresh basil leaves, for garnish, optional
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Spray a 9×13 baking dish with cooking spray.
- Spread half of a jar of marinara sauce evenly across the bottom of the prepared baking dish. Add half of the ravioli in an even layer over the sauce.
- Sprinkle 1 cup of mozzarella cheese and ¼ cup of Parmesan cheese over the sauce. Top with another layer of sauce, remaining ravioli, remaining sauce, and 1 cup mozzarella and ¼ cup Parmesan cheese.
- Spray a piece of aluminum foil with cooking spray. Cover the dish with aluminum foil, sprayed side down. Bake the lasagna for 30 minutes. Uncover and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the sauce is bubbly. Remove pan from oven let sit for 5 minutes. Garnish with basil, if desired. Serve warm.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Can I use fresh ravioli instead of frozen? Yes! If you’re using fresh ravioli, reduce the baking time by about 10 minutes.
- Can I add sausage or ground beef? Yes! Brown the meat first, then layer it in with the ravioli and sauce. It adds great flavor and makes the dish even more filling.
- Can I use homemade marinara sauce? Absolutely! Try our easy marinara sauce or slow cooker marinara sauce.
- How long does this keep in the fridge? It will stay fresh for up to 4 days in an airtight container. Reheat in the microwave or oven.
- Can I freeze leftovers? Absolutely. Let it cool completely, then wrap individual portions and freeze for up to 2 months.
Wow – will be making this tonight. I have a bag of spinach/cheese ravioli in the freezer as I like to do a few meatless meals each week. Just a half recipe as I am solo. Wondering if it freezes well as even half a recipe will be too much.
Enjoy!
Freezes beautifully! I make the full recipe, but split it into 2 8×8 foil tins for freezing. I’ve never tried half a recipe, but I suggest, perhaps, splitting the recipe into to foil loaf pans. Maybe that would work.
Hi! Do you know 2 30-ounce packages frozen cheese ravioli – how many grams that would be? Thank you! HELP
How many servings does this make?
This recipe was so Delish & so Easy ! I used Jumbo Cheese Ravioli and topped it with a Homemade Meat Sauce to make more of a Meal 🙂
Good weeknight version of lasagna. Mine definitely needed to cook longer.
We loved it. Had some garlic bread on the side.
Perfect meal!
Always make too much so this time I made it with half the ingredients in a LOAF pan! Worked very well. Excellent throw together for busy people! Highly recommended!!!
Great idea. Thank you for sharing!
If I bought the fresh ravioli from the Costco refrigerated section, could I bake this recipe without freezing them first?
Yes!
I love making food and this was so simple
hi! can I use crushed tomatoes? instead of marinara. also if I can do I have to cook the sauce down before layering? thank u!
Crushed tomatoes on their own might be a little bland. I would add some seasonings!
do u thaw the ravioli or use it frozen?
You don’t have to thaw it.
A winner. Tastes good (erm, better than my scratch lasagna) and the recipe easily adjusts for smaller servings (like for two older folks). Great in my cherished Corningware.
Recipe needs less pasta or more sauce. was much too dry but has a good taste
This is an outstanding recipe and beyond delicious. I have made it many times and many have asked for the recipe. Thank you!
You are very welcome!
