Welcome to our New Kitchen
Published on September 12, 2016
As most of you know, we spent the last year, plus a few months, building a new house. It is finally finished and we are THRILLED to share our new kitchen with you today.
We spent years planning our dream kitchen and we can’t believe it is ours. Our kitchen turned out better than we imagined thanks to our builder, Fox Group Construction. Our house is everything we hoped for and more! We still walk around pinching ourselves. We really feel like we are living in a dream house and our favorite room is the kitchen. It is the center of our home and the heart of our home. We are looking forward to sharing many meals and lots of laughs with friends and family for years to come.
We wish we could have you all over for dinner or bake you a batch of cookies, but pictures will have to do for now. I listed sources throughout the post, if you have any questions, leave a comment on this post and we will do our best to answer.
Enjoy…and just imagine you are eating cookies while you are taking the kitchen tour. Welcome to our new kitchen!

This in an absolute dream kitchen, stunning! The white makes it look so fresh and all the fixings are just beautiful. My kitchen is about the size of the island in the centre of yours haha!
Thank you!
Love the layout and space! Dual dishwashers – I’m jealous! Love the statement lighting – gorgeous. As far as the color, it’s just too sterile and white for me. Not the homey feel I like in a kitchen.
We are loving the space! Thanks!
Nice! Awesome lighting. Do those lights give off enough light or do you also have recessed lighting? I’m wondering if they would give me enough light. Thanks for sharing- anxious to see the rest of your beautiful home.
We have recessed lighting too.
Maria!!! It is absolutely stunning. So so happy for you, everything is perfect! xo
Thanks Jenny! Come visit soon! xo
Stunning!!! It must make you sooo happy to be in here every day. It looks so light-filled and happy! Enjoy 🙂
We are very happy! Thank you!
You have one gorgeous kitchen! I love this light fixtures! Happy cooking!
Thank you!
Simply stunning!! What a beautiful space to gather with friends and family to enjoy a wonderful meal!! LOVE!!
Thanks Lauren! xo
What a dream! Completely in love with the double islands and refrigerator! You guys thought of everything! Congratulations and enjoy 🙂
We spent a lot of time planning and are thrilled with how it turned out. Thank you!
Maria it’s absolutely stunning!!! I just bought a new house, well, 1912, and gutted most of it including the kitchen and just got mine finished. I went all white too, ceaserstone, shaker cabinets, and yours is absolutely to die for. Your kitchen is bigger than my whole house I think 🙂 You must be so thrilled it’s OVER. The construction, the dirt, the people in and out every day…ahh, congrats and enjoy!!!
How exciting! Congrats on your new house! I am sure it is lovely!
Gorgeous, Maria! I love everything about it… so dreamy! Congrats!
Thanks Marian. Come bake cookies with me:)
It looks awesome – definitely my dream kitchen!
Thank you!
Gorgeous Kitchen, Maria. Love the bright, airy look. The All white Kitchen/home is something that I always wanted to have but I wasn’t sure how it will turn out. I now know what I need to do when we paint our home again! Thanks for sharing the pictures.
Glad you like it!
OH WOW!!! You must be so incredibly excited- what an absolutely gorgeous kitchen!
Thanks Heather! xo
Just lovely!! So well planned!! Enjoy!
Thank you!
This is a beautiful and highly functional kitchen – I’m sure you will enjoy cooking in it a lot! I have to admit that all of the white kinda scares me bit but mostly because I tend to make a huge mess in the kitchen as I cook – lol.
Making a mess is all part of the fun. The kitchen cleans up easy:)
Love your kitchen. It’s beautiful and you can tell you put so much thought into the details. I would love to have a white kitchen someday but am so worried about how clean it would stay with two small children. How do you counter dirty handprints on white cabinets?
The cabinets are easy to clean and we personally like seeing when they are dirty so we can clean them.
Wow, you make me dream!! I just moved to the US where I am happy to have a bigger kitchen than the one I had in Europe (+ a big one on the rooftop of our building, which is perfect for shooting video recipes) BUT I like when everything is bright, white, and modern, exactly as your kitchen is. Seriously, you have the most impressive and (food blogger) everyone’s dreaming kitchen. I absolutely love it! Can’t wait to see your new baking/cooking creations!
Thank you! We are enjoying our new kitchen.
I’m so in love with your house, Maria! You all did a great job with it! (I need those lights over your island. GORGEOUS!)
Thanks Kristen! Come back and visit us soon! xo
Your kitchen is beautiful and clearly well planned.I have a love of white kitchens so you had me all in at the first photo.I am a bit confused , though, about the number of refrigerators. Did I correctly count three? I was curious as to why a family would need that many. I do love the idea of the small undercounted one. I imagine it is great for the kids.
Thanks for sharing!
Our business is cooking/baking and we do a lot of entertaining…and I have a house of boys, so we use the refrigerators. I wanted them in the kitchen instead of keeping an extra one in the garage or downstairs.
That is so smart to incorporate the extra refrigerators into your design!! I definitely need to tuck that away for when we build our custom home! Great use of your space for sure! Now, can we get a peek of your pantry? I’m sure that’s just as gorgeous!! 🙂
The pantry post is coming soon:) Stay tuned!
Holy Moly that is one dream kitchen! I adore that you have two islands!
We are loving the two islands. Thank you!
LOVE that you have two dishwashers! I wish I had room for that in my new kitchen. So excited for you! It’s gorgeous!
We are already putting them to good use! I can’t wait to see your kitchen!
Can you please come to Jersey City and build me my dream kitchen? Amazing, gorgeous, classy, and so fresh! Love, love love!
Ha! Yes!! Come visit us soon!! xo
Gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous!!! I love everything about it! We remodeled ten years ago and also put in two of everything – easier to feed our big family. Best thing we ever did! Two dishwashers will save your sanity. Wish we’d thought of an ice maker, though…..
Glad you are loving your kitchen. We are so happy we doubled up on everything! Makes life easier:)
Now that you’ve been using your kitchen for awhile, is there anything you wish you had differently? It appears to be so functional, but too large for me and my poor old feet and legs!!!
So far we are loving it and haven’t thought of anything!
I love all the natural light!
Thanks Julie!
Oh-so-beautiful! Well deserved and HAVE FUN BAKING alllllll the cookies in there 🙂
Thanks Sally! Come bake with me!! xo
Yes! Two dishwashers is what I’ve been missing in my life I now know! Congratulations, a dream kitchen and you get to raise your family in your dream home. What a life! 🙂
Thank you!
I am happy for you. It is hard for us who have tight budgets to imagine ever having a place like this to spend time cooking and enjoying family. You must be doing very well with your blog. What was your budget?
Also, while I find white very stark and clean looking, I also could not ever have white with all the cooking I do. I wonder how you keep it clean or do you have a housekeeper?
Thanks, we saved for our new home and are very blessed that we were able to build our dream kitchen to share with friends and family. The white is actually easy to clean. We cook a lot and we just clean up after. I would rather see the mess so I can clean it up, then have it hidden or blend in.
Nosey much?
Beautiful space and beautifully designed! I’m curious as to why you chose to do the end of the one of the islands in what looks like butcher block rather than using Caesarstone for the whole thing, like on the other island. Since you planned everything in such detail, I’m was hoping you could share the reason behind that unique choice.
We wanted a built in surface for slicing, cutting, and chopping. It is nice to have it right there and ready. We also like the look. It breaks up the white a little bit and adds a wood/rustic element.
I can see why it’s your dream kitchen. It is absolutely gorgeous!
I hope you have many years of family meals and enjoying that beautiful space.
Thank you!
It’s gorgeous!!! Congrats Maria 🙂
Thanks Joanne! xo
OK but like HOLY MOLY. You absolutely outdid yourself. Dream kitchen doesn’t even begin to describe it. Can’t wait for baking sessions together!!!
Girrrrrl, you better come bake with me! xo
This is a beautiful kitchen that could be in just about any design magazine. You have done a wonderful job. Thank you for sharing it with us. Enjoy Enjoy! Gail
Hi Gail-thanks so much! I hope you are doing well. The next time you are in town you will have to come over.
This IS a dream kitchen! I hope you have many many years and wonderful memories in it. Boy, can you cook up a storm in there! I’m envious of you….two dishwashers! Wish I could join you for some of those cookies but thank
you for the on-line tour. I’m very happy for your family.
Sending you a cookie via this comment:) Thank you!
It’s a good thing I’m eating cookies, otherwise I would leave drool all over the kitchen floor! Honestly, that kitchen came together beautifully! The barstools you chose reflect the nature of the kitchen, but I truly love the all-white kitchen!!! You definitely do have a dream kitchen, so dream on!!! Well done!
Yay for eating cookies:)
LOVE it! Reminds me a little of our renovated kitchen. 🙂 Seeing your white cabinets makes me want to repaint ours (ours are cream). Enjoy your beautiful new home and stunning kitchen!!
Thanks Chris! I love your kitchen! Wish we could bake together!
This is so gorgeous!! Were you able to build a special spot to take all your recipe photographs? Looks like a dream to cook in 🙂
I shoot in the dining room and my office. I will share my office space soon:)
Fabulous! I know y’all must be so excited to be cooking up a bunch of goodies in that kitchen. Congratulations!
Thanks Amy!
Where did you purchase the counter stools
The stools are from CB2. There is a link in the post.
dream kitchen, INDEED! it is breathtakingly beautiful. cheers to making memories and delish food in there!
le
Thank you!
Love it! So happy for you and your family! I will be looking for more fabulous cookies made in this kitchen……can’t wait!
There are more cookies coming your way:)
It is just beautiful! I love the white cabinets and the exposed beams look great against the white. Stunning! I have a couple of questions re: refrigerators. Do you have some sort of organization system so you’re not constantly going back and forth looking for butter or eggs? (Like dairy in one, veggies in the other?) Also, why did you go with one stainless and the other with the panels to match the cabinets? Would love to hear your thought process or how you decided that. I just would never have thought to not get two of the same.
Yes, I keep my baking needs in the fridge by the baking station…butter, eggs, milks, etc. In the back fridge we keep fruits, veggies, condiments, every day eats, etc. We wanted one stainless French door fridge for trays for entertaining. We like the paneled fridge in the back because it blends in with the cabinets.
Thanks so much for the explanation! I love the organization of it all – it would be so amazing to have a fridge just for baking (although let’s be real, with the exception of milk and bread, that’s pretty much all I have in my fridge!)
Ha!! I love having the space!
Oh my god! Oh my god!!!! I can’t handle how gorgeous this is! Seriously, can I move in???
YES!! Please do! I miss you!
Absolutely fabulous!!! There is not one thing I don’t like, your decorating is beautiful. Good job!!! I can smell the cookies baking
Thanks so much! There will be lots of cookies:)
Thanks for sharing, it is gorgeous!!!!!
You are welcome!
Beautiful. Just perfect.
Well done on such a project! My fiancé and I can’t wait to save up for
our own dream kitchen one day 😉
Thank you!
It’s gorgeous, Maria! So hapy for you!
Thanks Sandy! xo
Maria, it is absolutely breathtaking!!!! Truly beautiful!
Thanks Whit! Come visit soon! We miss you guys! xo
NO. WAY. Your new kitchen is absolutely gorgeous!
Thanks!
Hey girl love the kitchen! So pretty! Congrats!
Thanks!
Maria!! It’s beautiful!! I bet you’re in heaven cooking in that gorgeous space everyday!
Thanks Kami! Come see it in person!
It is indeed a dream kitchen.
A lot of space, I can imagine the kids running around and friends sitting to chat while the food is being cooked 🙂
Congratulations on achieving your dream.
Kind regards from Lisbon, Portugal
Cris
Thank you! The boys are loving it!
WOW!! This is absolutely gorgeous!!! Congrats you guys 🙂
Thanks Marla!
Congrats on the beautiful kitchen…you must be so excited. One day I hope to have my dream kitchen as well 🙂 I see you have two refrigerators plus a Panel Ready Fridge/Freezer Drawers. So essentially 3 fridges in the kitchen! Never seen that…I guess it’s better than having an extra fridge in the garage or basement!
Yes, we designed the space so we wouldn’t have to go to the garage or basement. It is nice having all of the storage right in the kitchen.
I am in love with your kitchen!!!! DREAM kitchen! so beautiful and so happy for you and your family!
Thanks Alice!
So beautiful!! Kitchen goals =)
🙂
OH WOW….it looks like something you see in a magazine. I can understand why you will be spending so much time in your kitchen. congratulations.
Congratulations !!!!! Dreams really do come true! I’m so happy for you and your beautiful family!!! You are blessed!
Wow. Well done! I’d like to know how the 2 islands are working out for you -do you love it and can’t imagine your life without? Or, does one ever seem to get in the way of the work flow of the kitchen? We are in the process of designing our future dream home and have considered a similar layout to your kitchen. Please let me know your thoughts!
Breathtaking, beautiful, gorgeous, stunning! Lucky you, so happy for you and your family!
Thank you Lisa!
It’s everything I thought it would be and more!!! So spacious! Such great organization of work space and beauty! You guys and all that worked with you did an outstanding job! Well worth the tortuous wait . . . . . .
I love it!!!!
Wow, this is a dream kitchen, there is nothing I don’t like. Enjoy it!!
Your kitchen is positively GORGEOUS! I can understand why you want to spend all of your time there!!
Hi Maria,
We are building a new home. I am curious about your double ovens. Are you satisfied with their performance? i I do a lot of cooking and baking, same as you.
Hi, I absolutely LOVE your kitchen!! I’m in the process of designing ours, and I’m wondering if you could share the approximate dimensions of your kitchen space? Our layout is quite similar in terms of wall space and where the table would go, etc. so I’m trying to see if I could replicate something similar! Thanks so much!!
Your kitchen is absolutely beautiful! Where did you get that wooden tray holding the lemons?
Thanks! It is from RC Willey
Amazing! What a delightful place to cook, gather and even clean! Blessings to you. Thanks for all the great recipes!
Where is your gorgeous dough bowl from?
I love how open it looks! My biggest issue with my galley kitchen is just how trapped I feel, I bet yours feels super breathable and open. #kitchengoals
We love all of the open space. Thanks!
Ben Blackwelder did my kitchen cabinets almost 5 years ago. He is an artist for sure. Our kitchens are similar in look. Thanks for sharing.
Stunning! Where did you get your wooden bowl that holds the lemons?
Thanks! RC Willey in Salt Lake City.
So cool!! I’ve picked out those same pendants for my new kitchen, except in the zinc color! Great minds think alike.
I was curious what are the dimensions of your kitchen including both islands?
The kitchen is 17.5 feet by 22.5 feet.
Thank you
I love the white design but how do you keep it looking clean with young kids?
I actually think white is easier to keep clean. It is really easy to wipe down.
Great kitchen! Wanted to ask if your stools are holding up? I love them and thought about getting but had read a lot of complaints that they didn’t last… thanks for the info
So far, so good…and we have two boys:)
What are the dimensions of your islands?
Love your house! We are building and going to use the white subway tile. I was wondering…what color did you use for your grout? White?
Thank you!
Jennifer
Hello! I love your blog 🙂 I am in the process of custom building and I want only 1 large dinning space (i.e.- no formal dining and breakfast nook). What are the dimensions on your dinning space? It looks perfect. Thanks!
Would you mind sharing what 3 x 12 back splash tiles you used?
Love this space! Is the weathered oak floor stain by min wax or another company?
Thanks!
HI! DREAM is an understatement! Just wondering if that stain is weathered oak from Thank you for sharing!
It’s from Duraseal. Thanks!
I LOVE your kitchen! Question, is the weathered oak finish on the floors by minwax?
I thought I had read the floors were Rubio Smoke 5 but now I’m wondering if weathered oak is a stain color? Love these floors!
What is name, color, and supplier of subway tile on backsplash please?
What is name color and supplier for your backsplash?
I love your new house…especially your kitchen. I am doing a remodel and have real difficulty with size and scale when looking at these beautiful pictures. Would you mind telling me roughly the distance between the farside kitchen wall and the fireplace? I love the idea of 2 “islands”. I love having people in the kitchen when I cook but really need extra counter space for that. Lovely lovely and I bet you are happy to start enjoying.
Absolutely beautiful! Just curious, do you know the dimenron your islands?
Thank you,
Cynthia
What did you choose for your back splash ?
White subway tile with grey grout.
Love your space!!! We are doing 2 islands in our kitchen also. Could you please share your island sizes? Trying to determine if ours are big enough. Thank you so much!
Maria & Josh, I love your website. Your house is amazing. What talent you have. You’ve created a beautiful home and you and your family must really enjoy it. Please tell me you have 3 maids that come in every week to keep it clean as I see you have little kids! I wish you all a happy and healthy life in your beautiful home.
Thank you so much! We are loving our home!
This is an absolute dream kitchen and has provided so much inspiration for our new kitchen. I’d like to have enough space for the islands. Would you mind sharing the width of yours? I’m afraid that the ones I have planned are too big. :s
PS: Love your blog! 🙂
I’m a fan of your kitchen and your recipes! I know your floors are 5″ white oak select but somewhere it said 5% Rubio monocoat finish and above said Weathered Oak stain. Do you know which is is? Whichever, they’re absolutely beautiful!
Do you know what type of finish was applied over the Weathered Oak stain? It appears fairly matte (they’re gorgeous!)
Maria! Long time reader revisiting your kitchen. Can you provide more details on your backsplash…is it just a gloss white 3×12? Is it handmade with some “movement” or “irregularities”? Crackle? Love the look and choosing one for our kitchen.
Thank you!!!
A dream home indeed, congratulations on this accomplishment. The pictures are quite amazing as well, had to go through them more than once. Beautiful ideas truly came to life here, hard to believe that you did it yourselves, I’m so happy for you.
What are the dimensions of your islands? Thank you.
Just looked at your home, I think it is absolutely fantastic. I am in envy enjoying the tour. Thank you for showing it to all of us & also for giving us so many great recipes to share. LOL
thanks very much

I still love your kitchen everytime I see it. I wanted to see what are the dimensions for your 2 islands. Thanks
Hi! How big is the lower cabinet between your fridge and wall ovens? We will have a similar setup and I’m wondering what size cabinet. Thanks!
