Fruit salsa made with berries, lime juice and agave

Sweet Chips and Fruit Salsa

I usually don’t crave salty foods, I prefer sweets. I don’t have A sweet tooth, I think ALL of my teeth are sweet:) Chips and salsa are an exception-that is my “go to” salty snack. I love Josh’s mango salsa-it is my favorite. I love the sweetness the mango brings to the mix-see I try to sneak in sweets wherever I can:) The other day I was in the mood for chips and salsa, but didn’t have any fresh cilantro. I was too lazy to run to the store, so I made a batch of fruit salsa instead.

How to Make Fruit Salsa

Fruit salsa is so easy to make! I simply combined strawberries, kiwi, blackberries, and blueberries. I added a squeeze of fresh lemon juice and a tiny drizzle of agave nectar and stirred everything together.

I was going to make homemade pita chips to go with the fruit salsa, but again my laziness got in the way, so I opened a bag of Stacy’s Cinnamon Sugar Pita Chips. Have you tried these? They are heavenly, be careful though – they are very addicting.

So what started as a salty craving, ended in a new favorite sweet snack, fruit salsa! My salty craving was easily transitioned into a sweet version of chips and salsa. My sweet side always takes over:)

  17. this is so yummy! i served something like this at a shower, and it was the first thing to disappear. i love those big blackberries in there, mmmm.

  18. P.S. My mom just told me that when she makes it, she blends the fruit together in a blender until it forms a “salsa” look to it. She says it helps scoop it onto the chip better. What’s your take on this??

    1. Traci-I personally like a chunky salsa. I also like to keep it colorful, so I mix it gently. The blueberries and blackberries want to turn it purple, but I don’t let them:) The blender version is probably tasty too though:)

  19. What a beautiful salsa! It looks like a great way to impress people at BBQs – they won’t have to know how easy it is to make! Thanks for sharing.

    1. Thanks everyone. We hope you enjoy this salsa all summer long. I know we will be making it often!

  20. I think your sweet tooth is related to my sweet tooth cause this looks terrific! I get sweet and salty cravings, when that happens I take pretzels and dip them into my favorite yogurt and that does the trick!! LOL

  21. YUM!!! The first time I had the cinnamon pita chips I didn’t like them. But a month or so ago I tasted them again (I stole one from a party some of the nurses were having!) and loved them. I bet they go great with this dip!

  22. Nice idea. I’m the opposite of you. I don’t really like sweets. I like savory, but then every now and again I want something sweet. But, I like salt on my fruit and vanilla ice cream.

  23. I have made these before! I have made the chips though, just with pita bread sliced into chip size and sprinkled with cinnamon sugar (maybe we put a teeny bit butter on top? cant remember….) and we made fruit salsa but with slightly different fruits, thanks for the reminder of this, I am going to make sure we make it for my graduation party two weekends from now, delish!

  24. A perfect idea for summer! Those chips are really good, but I haven’t had them in forever – thanks for the reminder 🙂

  25. What a great idea for Cinco de Mayo! And whilst I am not a huge tomato salsa eater, I suspect I’d dive straight into this fruit salsa! 😀

  26. You know how bad I’ve become? I want to make pita, just so I can do this! Looks totally snack-able 🙂

  30. I’m totally in the same boat as you — all my teeth are sweet! I’ve never been a chip snacker; I always reach for fruit instead. Or, on days like today, a warm chocolate chip cookie from the bakery down the street…

  31. What! Seriously this is ingenious i love it! What a fantastic recipe thanks so much for sharing.

  32. Awesome! I have three tiny boys who would love something like this for a snack. It would be nice to have something that I wouldn’t feel guilty about munching on with them, too! Really great idea.

  35. This looks SO good. I too have a penchant for sweets. Salty’s fine but sugar makes me happy. 😉

I bet this would great served at a party! It’d be a neat alternative to a regular fruit salad.

  36. Oh what a great idea! I love the cinnamon and sugar chips that you made with it. Great trip for summer time!

  37. made this as part of a multiple-salsa spread at a party on friday…altered to fit what fruits were available, used blue/strawberry, kiwi, pomegranate, tangerine, and lemon & lime juice, as well as mint. it was SO good! it went fast. thanks so much for the inspiration! also: for those who live near a trader joe’s, they make a sweet pita snack that works well with this salsa.
