Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup Popcorn
Updated March 26, 2019
We spent most of our Sunday watching football and the Golden Globes. I wanted a sweet treat, but was not in the mood to bake. Surprise, huh? 🙂 I was going to make our Twix Caramel Popcorn, but didn’t have any Twix candy bars, so I made a batch of Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup Popcorn instead. So happy I found my stash of Reese’s:) This popcorn is divine-think caramel corn, but with a peanut butter honey coating instead of the caramel. Oh, and it gets better, I also added a drizzle of chocolate and mini Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups to the mix. I was in sweet treat heaven with this Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup Popcorn!
I love how easy this popcorn is to make. You don’t have to bake it in the oven, you just combine peanut butter, honey, sugar, and vanilla on the stove and cook it for a few minutes. You pour the hot peanut butter mixture over your popcorn and gently stir until all of the popcorn is coated. I spread the popcorn out on a baking sheet and drizzled it with chocolate. I let the popcorn sit for a whole five minutes, I couldn’t wait any longer for the chocolate to harden, then I added the mini Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups.
I filled a bowl with popcorn and munched away while I watched the end of the Golden Globes. Yes, I was indulging while watching all of those skinny actresses. I think some of them needed a bowl of my popcorn:) The popcorn is sweet, gooey, with a slightly salty kick. And just when you think the popcorn can’t get any better, you will get a handful with a Mini Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup-chocolate peanut butter bliss!
This popcorn is perfect for movie night, game day, or any day really. I know I could eat a big bowl every day:) I am going to make a big batch of Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup Popcorn for our Super Bowl party. I know it will be a hit!
Reese's Peanut Butter Cup Popcorn
Ingredients
- 8 cups plain popcorn we use air-popped popcorn
- Fine salt
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup natural peanut butter
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup milk chocolate chips melted
- 1 1/2 cups Mini Reese's Peanut Butter Cups
Instructions
- Place the popped popcorn in a large bowl and salt to taste. Set aside.
- Mix the honey and sugar in a small saucepan and bring to a boil. Let it simmer for about 2 minutes, then remove from the heat and add the peanut butter. Stir vigorously until all the peanut butter is melted, then mix in the vanilla extract.
- Immediately pour the peanut butter caramel over the popcorn and gently stir with a long-handled wooden spoon until it's all coated. Spread popcorn on a large baking sheet. Drizzle popcorn with melted chocolate and let sit until chocolate hardens. Stir in the Mini Reese's Peanut Butter Cups.
- Notes: We used air-popped popcorn, but you can use microwave popcorn or stovetop popcorn. If you can't find Mini Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, you can chop up regular Peanut Butter Cups.

Oh yeah, this looks phenomenal.
Heaven. For real.
okay, that’s it! i’m coming over for some movies & popcorn 🙂
I’ll definitely give this a go next time we have a home-cinema night!
This would be perfect for a Super Bowl party too.
I would not be able to keep my hands out of this bowl!! Mmmmm love those mini pb cups
i’m not a big popcorn fan, but i think if i mixed it with reese’s i would definitely become one!
WOWZAH!
Ohhh lord have Mercy!!!!! This would be quite dangerous to have laying around
I literally gasped when I saw this. My husband asked if I was okay, and I replied, “Two Peas and Their Pod made reeses peanut butter cup popcorn!!!”. Bravo! Looks awesome.
This sounds fantastic. So much so that I had to pin it in two places so that I would not forget it! 🙂
Yes yes yes! This looks AMAZING.
Oh my goodness! This looks so good!
I’m usually not a huge popcorn fan (have to seriously be in the mood for it) but this version I’m pretty sure I could eat at any time 😉
This would just be an excuse for me to pop Reeses! 😉
oh my gosh Maria, this looks so amazing. I love popcorn, and I love reese’s peanut butter cups. I seriously can not wait to make this!
Perfect tv time snack!! Good thing there are several more awards shows in the month ahead!!
This is so out of control I don’t even know what to say. I wish I’d been at your house on Saturday!
I love no-fuss snacks like this! Looks wonderful–and a must-make!
I would suggest you make a double batch because it sounds THAT good 🙂
I mean, you wouldn’t want to miss out on having enough for yourself, right? I distinctly remember making edamame-guacamole for last year’s SB and counting on having leftovers to use on my sandwiches during the week. I was wrong, totally wrong. If that’s what happens with good-for-you green stuff, imagine the damage that your friends will do on this!
Are you sure you’re not pregnant because this has preggers cravings written all over it! Who was your fave best dressed at the Globes?
Yes, I am sure I am not pregnant:) I liked Reese Witherspoon’s look!
Oh my God, I’ve died and gone to heaven! This has me written all over it! Can’t wait to make it!
I can’t think of a better thing to munch on while sitting on the couch and watching a movie! This is perfection in a bowl.
I love how you improvised with Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. I’m a sucker for Harry & Davids Moose Munch – this reminds me of it. Interesting how you made a Reese’s snack for the Globes, maybe Reese Witherspoon was your inspiration 😉
oh my word!! how dreamy!
Wow! That looks delicious! And it looks easy which means even I should be able to make it well. 🙂
I don’t know how you can keep ingredients like Reese’s Peanut Butter cups in the house for a last minute dessert like this. I have absolutely no will power and would have eaten those peanut butter cups until they were gone the first day back from the store.
a perfect snack anytime, especially when you just need a little sugar.
I asked for a popcorn popper for christmas because I wanted to make your twix popcorn… Now I want this too! Maybe tonight…
Holy yummm!
Ya right!! This looks so amazing!
I love popcorn, caramel corn, and Reese’s Cups….THIS is a keeper. YUM!
Looks delicious! I haven’t made a caramel corn that doesn’t get baked before – will have to try this out.
Peanut butter and chocolate are two of my favorite combinations! Yum!
This is popcorn heaven!
a bowl full of heaven!
Perfect quick treat to satisfy my daily hungry cravings! I think a cereal bowl of this stuff would be a lot healthier than eating my usual 5 cookies, too! 😀
This is brilliant! I love how easy it is. My kids would think they’d died and gone to heaven.
I can’t wait to whip this up for them one night as a surprise!
Great! Irresistible! Now you know what I’ll have on my next family movie night 🙂
Thanks for the recipe, the reeses definitely make it so much more special.
Genius! This has to be fabulous!
I love chocolate and popcorn together . But chocolate, popcorn AND peanut butter ? Together? In the same bite? Sounds like Super Bowl heaven to me. I can’t wait to see what the boyz have to say about it… I’ll let you know!
I made this with just the peanut butter sauce today. It was so yummy & a perfect treat for our snow day in the Seattle area!
Oh Maria! You hit all of my major weaknesses hear!
I am SUCH a reese’s fiend. Like whoa. I can totally see why you opted out of baking in lieu of this!
🙂 this entire post has me going crazy craving this delight!! I want to make this SOOO bad, but I know – it will be big trouble when I do. Hmmm… sometimes, you just have to give into temptation 😉
Amazing! I didn’t think your Twix popcorn could be beaten but I think you’ve just taken it to a whole new level 🙂 Peanut butter and chocolate is the ultimate combination – throw in some caramel and crunchy popcorn and it’s total junk food heaven. Yum!
You need to start selling this in those giant popcorn tins people give out at the holidays. I would but like…30 cans….all for myself. 😀
Sweet, salty and crunchy… holy cow, this should be illegal!
You are such a trouble maker! How can I possibly resist?
What a yummy snack. I love the combo of chocolate and PB!
Why did you have to do this to me??? You have combined two of my absolute favorite things! Looks deliciously addicting!
Girl, such decadent & fabulous popcorn!! Loving those mini Reeses 🙂
Oh my goodness, my niece and nephew will love me forever if I make them this!
When they came out with those reeces minis I felt like my life had been made complete. They have the perfect peanut butter to chocolate ratio. Delicious!
Really?! I LOVE popcorn just as popcorn, but then you went and did this! WOW!!
What a great idea to use mini reeses cups! Love it!
Wow…this popcorn has everything I love in a sweet, salty snack! Genius, I say, genius!
This would be so fun to eat during a movie!
I’m not much of a popcorn fan but I could totally dig into some of this
I should not be reading this late at night when my sweet tooth is in overdrive. Amazing!
Wow, this looks so yummy! I love those baby Reese’s but they’re so dangerously poppable; before you know it, the bag is gone.
This would be SO dangerous for me to be around!!
You are my HERO… Caramel, Peanut Butter, Chocolate and salty popcorn… Seriously what can be better.
Oh my oh my! This looks like the most delicious thing E.V.E.R. Pinning this one for sure!
I wonder if it’s sticky. I wonder if it would be better dried out in the oven like I do my caramel popcorn? (before drizzling the chocolate and adding the mini reese’s , of course….. what do you think?
this popcorn is way better than any other I have ever seen
I made this yesterday and overall I think it turned out pretty well. I only melted 1/2 a cup of choco chips and it was plenty! Mine looked more drizzled than yours. Also, I had some trouble breaking up the clumps of popcorn after spreading it out onto the baking sheet so maybe I did something wrong? It’s not as crunchy as I thought it would be. It’s good and I may try it again for the Superbowl. Thanks!
The popcorn is soft because you don’t bake it. It is like a soft caramel corn.
I remember years ago my mom taking chocolate from the theatre and adding it to popcorn. I thought she was nuts. Now, I realize it`s a great combo. And these peanut butter cups takes that up a notch. I`m craving this now!
I got a tin of popcorn for Christmas that had a peanut butter/chocolate popcorn that was awesome! I am so excited to try this recipe because I think it will be even better!
It’s like you read my mind. I made cookies and cream popcorn this weekend, and was just thinking that something with reese’s would be just as amazing. I believe I was right. This looks awesome!
Can regular peanut butter be used in place of the natural pb?
Yes, regular peanut butter will work. Enjoy!
should this be made right before serving? or is it okay to make a day in advance?
You can make it in advance-maybe a day or two.
This would be perfect on a Friday night family date night!
Does it make a difference to use JIF instead of Natural peanut butter?
You can use JIF! Enjoy!
Ijust made this and it was so good. The bowl was gone in a few hours. I didn’t eat it all by myself, though I could have if I tried. Thanks for the great site and recipes.
Couldn’t resist making this since I first eyed it pre-Superbowl, but made a batch for my two teenagers for Valentine’s day. Packed it up in a Valentines Cookie box with bow and it looks like I just spent alot of money at our local sweep shop. Of course had to taste it during the mix to make sure it was right! Oh, my, off the New Year’s Resoultion diet for the day. Coudn’t get, my chocolate chip liquid enough to pour, so I added a 1/2 TSP of organic Coconut spread for cooking/baking. Anyone know how to get it melted to be able to pour?
Just wanted to Thank You for this recipe! I made this for my Husband for Valentines Day and he Loved it! I realy loved how the peanut butter carmel came out, and the combination of the Reese Cups (his fav) and Popcorn is to die for. This is an absolute keeper 🙂
One word: Amazing.
I made this popcorn last night for my Oscars party, and it delicious – a huge hit! I actually mistakenly mixed the PB, honey and sugar all together in the pot instead of cooking the honey and sugar separately, and the popcorn still came out great. I threw it in the freezer to harden up quickly.
Thanks for a great recipe!
SOOO sneaking this into the movie theater.
Great Recipe I usually order Flavored Popcorn online, but will def give this recipe a try, looks so tasty!!! 🙂
Looks amazing!
Can u tell me why you baked the twix one but not this one?
Thanks so much!
mmmmmmmmmmm i want thissssssss
I helped a friend make this last night for a baby shower – it’s amazing! Had to pin the recipe for myself!
We are making this to give to family in our holiday treat baskets this year. Yum! Thanks for sharing!
LOVED THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you so much for sharing! Can’t wait to make your other popcorn recipes!☺
I want to know the twix version !
I just have to tell you, I came across this recipe over the summer, and made it a few times whenever I got the craving…it is so good, and unfortunately, so quick and easy to make! During my holiday baking this season, I remembered the recipe, and thought it might pair nicely with cookie trays, and something easy to hand out in bags. Well…I’m on my 4th batch and just can’t stop! Everyone loves it! I ran out of the Reeses for my most recent batch, so I added in some leftover holiday Peanut Butter M&M’s. Tastes just as good and looks festive too. I’m looking forward to taking a big container to my NYE party. Something sweet to snack on! Thanks for sharing this recipe!
I made this today for a Circus-themed bridal shower. We put it on the tables in old fashioned popcorn boxes, as part of the centerpiece for people to snack on. Delicious and a huge hit!
Fun! Love that idea!
This looks incredible! Can’t go wrong with peanut butter and chocolate. 🙂
Oh Lordy! I have been loving your kettle corn recipe and now I have a box of mini peanut butter cups from trader joes so i’m going to make this tomorrow!Do you ever not eat it all in one sitting and have leftovers? I’m curious to know if it keeps because I’d love to make some and bag it as a bake sale item for the kids school fundraiser
Hi,
I just finished my pop-corn that looks so yummy !!! Do I have to keep it in the fridge?
On the counter in an airtight container is fine!
I was just wondering if anyone know how long this would stay before going stale? like i want to package this in goodie bags to passs out?
You can keep it in an airtight container for 3-4 days!
This looks so good! Thank you.
Does this keep well? Could I make it the day before I need it or is it an “eat the same day” type of thing?
Yes, you can make it the day before. Enjoy!
Do I have to use natural peanutbutter or is jif okay
Regular peanut butter is fine.
I just made some peanut clusters and thinking of breaking up a few to add and may be mini Reeces Pieces for fall. May be use red and green chocolate drizzle for Christmas. Thanks for sharing your recipe!
Delicious
Thanks!
My grandson’s favorite milkshake is peanut butter so when I saw this I thought he’d love it and he said it sounded fantastic! Well it tastes as good as it sounds! He loves candy corn so I added some of that and also some chopped butterfingers as well as the peanut butter cups. We will bring him some for an after school snack. Thank you!
Oh fun!
