A Cozy Apple Smoothie to Start Your Day

Smoothies are a staple in our kitchen, and this apple version is one of my all-time favorites, especially when I want something simple, sweet, and satisfying.

This smoothie is packed with real, wholesome ingredients like fresh Honeycrisp apple, creamy Greek yogurt, hearty oats, and a touch of cinnamon. It tastes just like apple pie, but in a cold, creamy, totally drinkable form. I love using a Medjool date to sweeten it naturally because it adds just a hint of caramel flavor… and we all know caramel and apples are a match made in heaven.

It’s quick to blend, easy to customize, and perfect for those cozy fall mornings—or really, any time you’re craving something nourishing and delicious.

Whether you enjoy it as a grab-and-go breakfast or a feel-good afternoon snack, this apple smoothie is one you’ll want to make all fall!

Smoothie Ingredients (with Helpful Notes)

ingredients in bowls to make apple smoothie.
  • Apple: I love using a Honeycrisp apple for its sweet-tart flavor and juicy texture. Peel it for a smoother blend.
  • Milk: Any milk works! Almond, oat, or dairy milk all blend well, use what you love.
  • Vanilla Protein Powder: Adds creaminess, flavor, and protein to keep you full longer. Use the code TWOPEAS for a discount on Clean Simple Eats protein powder or Just Ingredients protein powder.
  • Greek Yogurt: Adds a tangy, creamy element and more protein. Use plain to keep the sugar down.
  • Old-Fashioned Oats: To thicken the smoothie and to add fiber. Use gluten-free oats if you need the smoothie to be gluten-free.
  • Almond Butter: Brings healthy fats and a subtle nutty flavor. Peanut butter works too, but will change the flavor a little.
  • Medjool Date: Natural sweetness and a caramel-like taste. Make sure it’s pitted! Don’t have a date, you can swap for maple syrup or even honey.
  • Vanilla Extract: Just a splash enhances all the warm apple-cinnamon vibes.
  • Cinnamon – Brings cozy, fall flavor. A little sprinkle on top makes it extra inviting.
  • Ice: Gives the smoothie that thick, cold texture, don’t skip it!

Tips for Making the Best Apple Smoothie

  • Peel the apple for the smoothest texture, apple skins can make the smoothie gritty.
  • Adjust sweetness to taste. The date adds a mild sweetness, but feel free to use maple syrup if you prefer.
  • Add Greens. Want to sneak in some veggies? A handful of spinach, I promise you won’t taste it and it’s a great way to get more nutrients.
  • Blend thoroughly. A high-speed blender will give you the best texture.
  • Sprinkle cinnamon on top before serving. It makes the smoothie look (and taste) extra cozy.
  • This recipe makes one large, meal-sized smoothie, perfect if you need a filling breakfast or post-workout fuel. But it’s also rich and satisfying enough to split into two smaller servings, great for sharing or enjoying as a lighter snack. Just pour into two glasses!
