You could probably make this salad with your eyes closed. Please don’t try it though since you have to use a knife to chop up the avocado. I don’t want any of you to end up with a finger in your salad or a trip to the ER. It is super duper easy! Probably the easiest and tastiest salad I’ve ever made.

All you have to do is combine chickpeas, avocado, cilantro, green onion, feta cheese, and a little lime juice. That is it. Five minutes is all you need to make this healthy salad! It is perfect for a quick lunch, dinner, or healthy snack! And it’s a good recipe to serve at parties because it is so easy…and everyone will want the recipe!

If you’ve made my favorite sandwich then you know I don’t use feta, but I decided to add it to the salad for color and a kick of flavor. If you need the recipe to be vegan, you can leave it out, but I loved it! I might have to add a little to my sandwich next time:)

  3. This was delicious! My husband, whom I worried about absolutely loved it! I added fat free feta to save a few calories and a pinch of cumin. It was yummy! It will be on the rotation from now on!

  4. I came across this recipe by complete chance this morning, and almost immediately went out and bought cilantro and green onion, the only two ingredients I didn’t have. Made it for lunch, and IT IS SOOOO GOOD!!! Oh, I just love it. Only one of my avocados ended up being good, so that’s all I put in it, otherwise no changes. I could eat this every day! Thank you!! I’ll definitely be looking through more of your recipes now!

  5. I made this tonight… WOW!!! Seriously amazing. One more f my favorite salads ever! This will definitely be a frequent dish for me. Thank you.

  6. I’m going to try this soon, it sounds yummy! I’m also thinking this would make a wonderful hummus with the addition of a little garlic, and some tahini, blenderized to a chunky consistency. Leave the cheese out and sprinkle it on top instead. Serve with pita chips or corn chips.

  7. This recipe has been on my list of things to try for quite a while and I finally got around to it. It is so delicious that I just had to thank you for posting it. As promised, it is super easy to prepare and absolutely wonderful. Light and perfect for lunch. Thanks again!

  8. This looks amazing! I think I might add a finely chopped tomato for a bit of color, particularly if serving during the Christmas season. Thanks!

  9. I saw this great salad on pinterest and I just made and ate it. Definitely one of my most favorite salads 😉 We enjoyed it so much!
    Thanks for the recipe,

  10. I made this for my VERY picky vegetarian boyfriend and he asked if he could finish the whole (giant) bowl, so I guess that means he loves it! I did make a few minor substitutions – used onion powder instead of fresh onions and no cilantro (because it was not good at the grocery store) and added tomatoes. It was still awesome, but next time I will definitely use the cilantro!

  11. Hello! I was looking for interesting salad with avocado and I found your site. I’m love it 🙂 Your recipes are amazing, very inspiring 🙂 Greetings from Poland 🙂

  12. Just poppin in to say this salad was such a hit, the flavor combo and measurements are spot on! Thank you for sharing!!!

  13. Holy yummy. Made this tonight with a small change to the original recipe. I didn’t put chick peas in it (as my family is not too fond of them) , but put tons of diced veggies like diced cherry tomatoes, yellow and orange pepper and tons of cucumber. And I grilled the avocado with garlic, and added when cooled. It was friggin amazing!!!

  14. This is my new go-to quick lunch!!! Very portable, very easy, very healthy, very delicious! Meets all my picky criteria. It doesn’t even need any dressing, and usually I skip the cilantro anyway. Simply chickpeas, avocado and feta, but sometimes I’ll add cucumber or red pepper for some crunch. Your website is fabulous and has so many great recipes for plant-based vegetarians 🙂

  15. I made this over the Memorial Day weekend and everybody loved it. I will incorporate it into my rotation! I love all your recipes I’ve tried!

  17. I’m wondering if you need to eat immediately or if next day is OK with the avacado? Would love to pack for lunch at work but not sure. Thanks!

  18. I just made this, and it’s delicious. PACKED WITH FLAVOR!

I used fat-free feta, and only 1 avocado. I also upped the cilantro bc I’m obsessed with cilantro. I skimped on the fat grams because I plan to use it as an ingredient in bigger salads I make on work days.

Thank you so much! So fresh and a wonderful end-of-winter delight. 🙂

  19. This salad is so yummy, and I frequently have cravings for it!
I use it as a side dish, and it’s my first choice when bringing food to a potluck. Everybody loves it and wants the recipe 😀

  20. This looks utterly delish!!!!! I luv chick peas, unfortunately, my hubby disposes them . What other bean or veggie could I use? (for him)

  21. Added lightly steamed cubed zucchini and omitted the Feta. Delicious! Will add Feta next time. Definitely a keeper recipe.

  22. I added 1/2 of a finally chopped red pepper and spooned it into little phyllo cups for a christmas party appetizer. Was a big hit!

  23. Oh my! I just finished making this fabulous salad. It is beyond delicious. I may add dried cranberries and toasted pecans. Has anyone tried this addition?

  24. Oh my! I just finished making this. It is WONDERFUL!!! Love the blending of tastes. I may add dried cranberries & toasted pecans. Anyone else try this addition?

  25. What would you substitute for the cilantro? I’m one of those that doesn’t like the taste, unless I’ve just had a few bad experiences with it.

  26. Made this for the first time today, Yummy! I put it on top of a bed of Aurgula, which is delish!! Had it for lunch and now a side with dinner

  27. Does this serve 4 as a side or main? I made it last night and it only made 2 servesin my opinion. Unless i did something wrong but i reread the post (which is nice and short which i love) and couldn’t find anywhere i stuffed up. Id love to make agaj. I guess ill double it.

  28. This was so yummy! I made it last week and am preparing to make it again today. I added the zest from the lime before juicing which upped the lime factor. I just wanted to say thanks for sharing! This will be made often. It’s also really filling and LOVE that it is so good for you! 🙂 THANK YOU!!!1

  29. I have been eating this literally every day since I first read about it…. However, I use goat cheese and it is sooo much better! And when I dont have limes I sprinkle lemon pepper on it. It’s DELISH and filling!

  30. I recently discovered this recipe and have made it several times already. It’s so fast to put together and SO delicious!!

  31. This recipe is super yummy, and I plan to make it frequently. For the record, however, I hate recipe websites that don’t provide a printer friendly option.

  32. OK, for some reason, the printer friendly button only appeared AFTER I posted my comment. I don’t know what that is about…

  33. I just made this and am eating it as we type, it’s delicious! I omitted the green onion as I’m not a fan and am loving it.

  34. About how long could I make this last in my fridge in tupperware? I often batch prepare my lunches for a couple days. With a little extra lime juice, I’m hoping to have this for 2-3 days, even if the avocado gets a little browner (still good).

  35. Fixed this over Memorial weekend and it was a complete hit with the entire family. Very light and refreshing. I made it maybe 6 hours ahead of time hoping the lime juice would keep the avocados from browning however they still did a bit. Nobody minded  tho because they loved the taste.

  36. One of my pinned recipes that I always come back to and find myself telling friends, it’s on my board 😉 So good! Thank you so much for sharing such a simple and delicious recipe with us all. If only all food was this good with this amount of effort! 🙂

  37. I am eating this yummy salad as I write this. It is delicious! I never would have thought of combining these ingredients. So glad to have found this recipe. Thank you!

  39. This is my favourite to go salad in case I’m in a real hurry and low on veggies. So simple, so delicious and so healthy and filling, I don’t need anything else. Just water and fruits for later on.

  40. I made this today, it was great! I cut up half of a cucumber and added it to the salad for a little extra veggie kick. Was thinking you could add chicken and really make this a meal!

  41. I just made this salad and it was wonderful!!! I did tweak it a little bit though. I left out the cilantro as I am not a big fan and I used Jalapeno Pepper Feta cheese and that gave it a little well needed zip.

    1. It might brown a little. Squeeze extra citrus on the avocado and cover it tightly with plastic wrap. I eat the leftovers the next day and I think it is still good:)

  42. I have made this amazing salad so many times, and it is gorgeous. Perfect for lunch, as a side for a BBQ, or as a light dinner. One of my all time favourites:)

  43. I made this salad last night and I LOVE it! I ended up eating it for dinner instead of a side. It was that good! 🙂 I will absolutely be making this again, soon and often!

  44. i have been making this salad for years  and it is the greatest!! I use parsley instead of cilantro due to aversion of cilantro!

  45. I made this last night for dinner (rounded it out with a few pieces of leftover chicken breast) and halved the recipe. It was delicious and I’m having the remainder today for my not sad desk lunch. Thanks for the great recipe!

  46. This has become my most favorite salad ever!!! The flavors are spot on!!! Thank you SO much for sharing! I’ve been adding some sliced cherry tomatoes and a few handfuls of torn mixed greens. Absolutely wonderful! Just made a batch to eat for lunch this week and I already can’t wait! 🙂

  47. Hi, Really enjoyed viewing your creations and recipes, you and I have similarities in the kitchen. My husband and I grow a year-round garden with goats and chickens. Thank you, for all you do and your ideas to enlighten viewers like me.

  48. Hi, thanks for the recipe! I made this last night to have for lunch today, and when I tasted it last night it was delicious! However, today when I ate it for lunch, it had kind of a strange citrusy bitterness, almost like grapefruit peel… any idea what that could be? I followed the recipe exactly, with the exception of adding green onion (didn’t have any). The lime was fresh, bought it the same day… any ideas on the bitter flavor? Thanks again for the delicious salad, I will try to make it again and see what happens!

  49. I made this for my family (minus the cilantro bc we didn’t have any) and my five-year-old ate two helpings! So fresh, easy and yummy, thank you.

  50. This salad is super easy and very tasty.  I made it in the morning – 5 min – and I’ll eat it for a quick lunch.  Thanks for the recipe!

  51. This is a recipe we use regularly. It is in truth, one of our top 5 favorites. It’s light on the stomach but satisfying. Delicious is an understatement. We appreciate you for creating and sharing it. Thank you.

  52. I made this salad for dinner its such a easy dish to make.
I enjoyed the flavour and how healthy and light it tasted.

  53. How do you keep the avocado fresh (and fresh looking) for a few days if making this ahead of when u want to eat it or should I just not care that it’s gone brown?

    1. Sam, If you’re still reading the comments, I learned to put my avocados in the fridge after they ripen and they keep for at least a week. Ina Garten taught me that. 🙂

  54. 5 Star! I added English cucumber and extra lime. It was so easy to make and very light and delicious. Thanks for the great recipe!

  55. I made this tonight and it was awesome! This will be a regular. I have to add, tho, drain chickpea juice into a bowl and whip it like you do whipping cream. It will take about 15 minutes but you add sugar and vanilla and it tastes just like whipped cream – not chick peas! Delicious!

  56. Love the flavors, simplicity, and ease, however took off a star as I really miss something crunchy in there. The second day I added it to a Trader Joe’s bag of chopped Southwestern salad and the cabbage, pepita’s, and tortilla strips added the missing crunch very nicely. If I made it again I would experiment with celery, bell peppers, or something else to give it crunch.
