Make the tortilla strips.

Cook onion, red pepper, and jalapeño in olive oil. Add garlic and bay leaf, then cook.

Add chicken broth, tomatoes, black beans, chicken, corn, chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, oregano, salt, and pepper. Stir and simmer. Stir in cilantro and fresh lime juice. Taste and adjust seasonings. Remove bay leaf.
