Homemade granola is one of my favorite things to make and eat! It is so easy to make at home and it always tastes so much better than store bought granola. I love making big batches to have on hand for breakfast and snacking.

Before our little baby arrived, I made a big batch of Brown Butter Maple Granola. I am so glad I did because it sure has come in handy! I have been munching on it nonstop. I love grabbing a few handfuls when I am up in the middle of the night feeding the baby:)

I love using brown butter in my recipes and it makes this granola extra special! I used one Land O Lakes® Unsalted Butter Half Stick. It is the perfect amount for this recipe! I brown the butter in a small skillet until it smells nutty and is a toasty brown color.

I combine all of the ingredients in a big bowl and spread the granola out on a large baking sheet. I bake until the granola is golden brown, stirring a few times to make sure the granola gets evenly toasted.

After I pull the granola out of the oven, I stir in dried cranberries. Feel free to mix it up and use your favorite dried fruit. Raisins, dried cherries, or dried blueberries would also be good!

  7. This looks amazing! Going on my list of things to make for a quick before school breakfast 🙂 I’m a sucker for anything maple!

  8. Yum! Cant wait to try this. Sorry to be annoying but noticed a typo: Add the maple syrup and maple syrup.Think you meant vanilla for the second one 🙂

  9. Did you mean add vanilla, where you said add maple syrup twice? Thanks for recipe. I just made a batch?
What’s the trick for browning the butter? Mine was on low and I’m not I let it cook long enough.

    1. Yes, vanilla! I updated the recipe. You will smell the butter when it starts to brown. It will also change colors. You probably didn’t cook it long enough.

  10. I LOVE making my own granola and I am constantly on the lookout for new recipes. These look so good–love the flavors!

  11. Homemade granola has nothing on store bought! Love the heart shaped granola picture!

  12. This was delicious!!!! Would love to make this in to a granola bar…any thoughts on what could be used to bind it together? I don’t want it to get too much sweeter but I was thinking about honey.

    1. I haven’t tried making granola bars. I want to though! Maybe reduce the other sugar if you are going to use honey.

  13. This is bad, I made this on Saturday morning, it was all gone by Sunday dinner time, and I ate it all since my husband doesn’t like anything oats. I absolutely love this granola!

  14. This was absolutely amazing! My only regret is that I didn’t triple the recipe! I might even add in some chopped chocolate next go around. Thanks for sharing!

  15. Made this granola tonight and I’m already thinking I’m gonna have to double the recipe and make another batch tomorrow so I have granola to share! Delicious recipe. Thank you for sharing! I’m 20 weeks pregnant with baby number 5 and loved your idea of having this to snack on during those middle of the night feelings. In the past I’ve fueled up with homemade cookies, but this granola is just as delicious and makes me feel less guilty! Congrats on your new addition. I hope you’re getting at least a few hours of sleep at a time! I’ll be doing those same “every 2 hours” feelings soon. 😀 -Ashley

  16. I am a silent reader for a long time, but today I have to leave a comment. I am making a double batch of your granola for the second time and I love it. I am from Europe and we dont have a good selection of granola available. So I am happy to make my own, healthy version of it!

  17. Just made a double batch of this with fresh NH maple syrup. My house smells incredible! I think I have found my new favorite fall snack!

  18. Hi I’ve made 3 of your Granola recipes:
    – Homemade Granola with Coconut, Dried Cranberries, and Almonds (I added Dried Apricots and didn’t have Coconut) https://www.twopeasandtheirpod.com/homemade-granola-with-coconut-dried-cranberries-and-almonds
It was my favourite! It clumped well and wasn’t overly sweet, really tasty on its own and with yogurt!

    – Pumpkin Granola (I added Dried Apricots) https://www.twopeasandtheirpod.com/pumpkin-granola/
I preferred it with yogurt than on it’s own as it wasn’t so sweet. But it’s nice to have a substitute for the canola oil and a healthier version.

    – Brown Butter Maple Granola (I added Dried Apricots and didn’t have Peacans) Just made it today, I thought I would love it most but I think next time I will reduce the dark brown sugar and maple syrup as the coconut is sweetened. It’s the first time I’ve made brown butter so I’m not sure if it elevated this recipe…honestly it felt like extra work. This recipe smells wonderful and makes a good Granola recipe — my suggestion to readers is to adjust it to your own sugar preference. Not sure if others found it quite sweet?

Thanks for all the recipes — I love trying them out and reading through the comments sections first for tips!

  19. This granola is very similar to what i make…..but I used coconut oil in lieu of butter and add cinnamon in with the maple syrup in lieu of vanilla. I plan to make your version, but will still use coconut oil in lieu of butter. Thanks

  20. Just made this last night and it was delicious! That was my first-ever attempt at making homemade granola, and I’m super pleased with how it turned out. This morning I mixed 1/3 cup of it in some vanilla greek yogurt, then threw in some blueberries. It was a super delicious healthy snack! I just recently discovered your blog and am excited to try so many more recipes. Thanks so much!

  21. This looks delicious!! I can’t wait to try the recipe! Could one substitute honey in place of the maple syrup?

  22. I made this over the weekend and it’s definitely a keeper. I didn’t have coconut or almonds and pecans so I used a Planter’s mixed nuts with pistachios. I came up short on the maple syrup so I substituted corn syrup and maple extract. I like how versatile this recipe can be. I already shared the recipe with co-workers. Thank you so much.

  23. This granola looks so good. I love making a batch on the weekends and having it for breakfast and snacks all week long.

I made this today and it is so good! It smells amazing and the taste is unbelievable! I have been searching for this type of granola recipe and have not had much luck. I have a favorite peanut butter chunky granola recipe that I make all the time, but I like to have a variety of options and wanted to find a second granola recipe that was a little looser. This is exactly what I was looking for. This recipe is a keeper. Thanks so much for sharing!

I love this granola too.  I have made many other recipes, the browned butter makes all the difference in the world.  The one change I would make would be to add the brown sugar to the maple syrup and heat until sugar dissolves,  add the browned butter, then mix with dry ingredients.  Mine was a bit grainy and I think this would solve it.

Everyone I served it to wanted the recipe.  Thank you for sharing with us!

Where has this recipe been my whole life?  It’s absolutely amazing!!  I just took it out of the oven 5 minutes ago and I’m already scarfing it down.  Fantastic job on the recipe.  This is going to be my new go to granola recipe.  Thanks for sharing it with the world! ❤︎❤︎❤︎❤︎❤︎

This is my go-to granola recipe! Whipping up a batch right now and my house smells like Fall!! I’ve made this 4 times and I love it more each and every time I make it. 5 stars for sure!! Perfect amount of sweet and savory!

  29. Just made this and it is amazing!!! I was going to share with family but now I want to keep it all for myself!!! 5 stars

  30. I’ve been making granola off and on for years. I’ve been searching new granola recipes, and received great ideas from an online cooking community. Yet I soon get bored and lose interest. But THIS! This is so perfect for me. It tastes wonderful. I love the browned butter, the sour cherries. I use a mild maple syrup. My sister pays me to make it for her too!
Thanks, Maria. I also think your blueberry muffins are The Best.
Love to you and your family from Vancouver, Canada.

wonderful recipe for delicious (and nutritious) granola! I’ve made it twice already! It’s definitely a KEEPER!

Finally… Finally I found a true granola recipe! Been looking forever and this is THE BEST and so easy to make. We cannot stop eating it!! I can’t make it fast enough for my teenage son who refuses to eat any cereal other than the ones I refuse to buy. Thank you!!!

  33. 5 stars
This is so easy and SO delicious!! I really enjoyed the easiness of the recipe and clear directions. I recommend this 100%. I can’t wait to share this with my family as they are granola connoisseurs and I know will LOVE it ! Thank you for sharing this recipe.

This is so yummy and exactly what I was hoping for. Do you have the nutritional info for it?

  35. 5 stars
This granola tasted like a bowl of “fall”! It was so delicious and comforting. I switched the recipe slightly and used unsweetened shredded coconut, which was a good decision since the recipe has the perfect amount of sweetness for me already. I used golden raisins instead and added chocolate chips, which didn’t work too well with the combo. WHEN I make this next time, I will use regular raisins and skip the chocolate. Thanks for this amazing recipe!

  36. I’m so excited to see you how this turns out. I doubled the recipe and felt that I needed to add more oatmeal to soak up the liquids. It was a very easy recipe. I’ve never used brown butter before and it sounds so good!! Thank you for this recipe.

  37. 4 stars
Love the recipe except for salt. It was way too much and overpowered the great flavors of the rest of the ingredients. Half of the amount stated in the recipe would have been sufficient.

  38. 5 stars
This is so good! My husband is allergic to pecans, so I just doubled the almonds. The brown butter and maple gives it an amazing flavor!

  39. I’m making this for about the tenth time and my kids and everyone loves it! Thank you so much! I’m going to serve it on top of my homemade crockpot vanilla yogurt. My kids won’t eat anything homemade except this and bread. Thank you again!

  40. 5 stars
This is so good! I used what I had on hand and it worked out! I subbed sunflower seeds for almonds and pecans, swapped coconut oil for butter, and raisins instead of cranberries. I’ve been having it as cereal for breakfast and it’s filling (which is important since I’m seven months pregnant). Planning to make another batch soon!

  41. Simply the best, I have to make it at least once a month! May use a bit more butter but it’s insanely delicious.
