Easy Blender Salsa

We are huge chips and salsa fans and fresh homemade salsa is the BEST! I promise it is MUCH better than store bought and don’t worry, it’s super easy to make! You only need a few ingredients and 10 minutes to make this Restaurant Style Salsa. You will be chipping and dipping in no time!

I love this salsa because it is made in the blender (a food processor works too). You add all of the ingredients and blend it up! The salsa will remind you of your favorite restaurant salsa, but better! Homemade is always best, especially when it’s so easy!

Plated chips and homemade salsa made from easy salsa recipe

How to Make Restaurant Style Salsa

  • For this salsa recipe, you need canned whole tomatoes AND canned Rotel tomatoes with green chiles. The green chiles add great flavor without being spicy. I love this salsa recipe because it uses canned tomatoes, making it a good salsa to make all-year round!
  • Add a pinch of sugar to cut the acidity of the tomatoes. If you are avoiding added sugars, you can leave it out and it will still be good.
  • I use a whole jalapeño, but remove the seeds. Most of the heat comes from the seeds. If you want a super mild salsa, you can use half of a jalapeño or leave it completely out.
  • Fresh cilantro and fresh lime juice really brighten up the salsa!
  • In a blender or food processor, add tomatoes, onion, jalapeño, garlic, cilantro, sugar (if using), cumin, salt and lime.
  • Pulse until desired consistency is reached. If you want a chunky salsa, just pulse it a few times. If you want a smooth salsa, let the blender run for about 30 seconds.
  • Taste and season with salt, if necessary.
  • You can serve right away or refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to let the flavors come to life.

How to Store

I love this salsa because you can store it in a jar or container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks. Ours usually doesn’t last that long though:)

You can freeze the salsa, but I think fresh is best! When you freeze it, it will get a little watery. Drain off excess water and then enjoy. You can freeze it for up to one month.

Serving Suggestions

We love starting any Mexican meal with chips and salsa. We also like topping any and all Mexican food with this easy blender salsa. It is the perfect addition to any Mexican recipe.

We love adding this salsa to fajitas, tacos, quesadillas, burritos, enchiladas, taco salads, taquitos, and MORE! This salsa spices up any meal!

This recipe makes a bit batch of salsa so be prepared to share! It is the perfect salsa to serve at parties.

  2. I’m a mild salsa girl. I could eat a gallon of this stuff! 😀 Thank you for the giveaway!

  3. I’m a medium girl, but my husband likes hot salsa. I discovered this recipe of Ree’s a year or so ago on her website. We make it, usually, once a week, what with my husband being a transplanted Texan. It’s our favorite, and so, so easy.

  4. If I’m honest with myself, I like it mild, but I always overestimate the amount of heat I’m in the mood for, sometimes I go for the hot! But I never complain, I just request a constant flow of water into my glass! It’s so tempting to go for the hot stuff, yummy!

    1. Milk is what will take the heat away from your mouth. Try that instead of milk.

  5. Don’t enter me because I’m getting my own copy to review (CAN”T WAIT!!!), but the salsa looks awesome! This type of salsa is the only Josh will consume (hes not a chunks guy)- looks fabulous

  6. I LOVE LOVE LOVE salsa …. mild is my usual preference…. but once in a while, a good bowl of medium salsa is just fine. I tend to prefer mild for snacking and medium to add to my mexican foods (tacos, enchiladas, quesadillas, etc).

THIS looks delicious and like something my father-in-law will love, as he isn’t a big fan of the super chunky types of salsa (he hates tomatoes LOL)

  7. I am a fan of medium, my husband likes hot salsa so when we make it at home we shoot for somewhere in the middle. Can’t wait to try this!

  8. The best way to have salsa is medium so that your mouth really starts to tingle with some big chunks of mango that adds a nice contrast!

  9. I’m usually on the hotter-side of medium if I’m eating with it, but I’ll use a milder salsa if I’m cooking with it, since my husband has milder tastes. 🙂

  10. I just made Ree’s salsa (from her recipe online) on Saturday when we had friends over and they loved it!
    My favorite salsa is medium!

  145. I made this salsa for my super bowl party this year, it’s soooo good! I’m definitely a mild salsa fan…I can’t handle much heat at all. Or as PW would say “You can’t HANDLE the heat!”

  146. I like my salsa with just a bit of bite, so probably on the medium side. I have a signed copy of Ree’s first book (and a t-shirt) and would LOVE a second! My mom met her in Austin… I’m a big fan!

  147. I love chips and salsa too, and I love it hot! But I usually have to keep it toned down a bit for my fiance. That’s ok though! I’ve tried the Pioneer Woman’s salsa recipe too and it’s amazing! One of these cookbooks would be excellent. Thanks for the chance to win!

  148. I so want to win!!!!!

I like my salsa medium… but lately have preferred a green/tomatillo salsa recipe I got from USU extension.

  149. I definitely PREFER mild salsa, but my husband has spent the last seven years we’ve been together working on getting me to eat spicy food, so I think I’m “warming up” to medium heat 😛

  150. I made this salsa for the first time a few months back- now my family’s favorite and have made it several times since. All of Ree’s recipes are spot on!

  151. I do love my salsa with a medium kick, but I’m know feeding two little ones, so I currently enjoy my salsa mild!

  152. I like mine medium but my hubby likes it hot. Then we have two little ones who compete to see who can eat the hottest. Guess I’m the odd ball. 🙂

  153. Even though I live in San Diego CA, I like to taste the salsa so I take mine mild! I know, what a wimp!

  154. Mild is how I usually go. That way I can keep eating as much as I want. 🙂

I am so excited for this book. I have her first and it’s been great.

  155. I’m more of a mild to medium kinda gal. Can’t handle too much spiciness, but I do love me some salsa!

  156. I’m a mild girl. I might have to get this recipe a try. Sounds really good right now and yes it is only 10am!

  157. I like mild salsa! By the way, this salsa recipe is simple!! Reminds me of the salsa at a restaurant near my hometown. Delish!

  158. I like my salsa medium! It is just spicy enough to make me not inhale it, and it is mellow enough to spoon some onto my chip–not do the quick dip and barely coat I do with hot salsa. I am SO excited about Ree’s book–love her!

  159. I like my salsas mild. Just hot enough that I feel that tingle but not so hot I can’t eat the whole bowl :0)

  160. Most of the time I like medium salsa but every once in a while give me some hot as long as I have something very cold near by. Like you I love salsa & chips!

  161. I’m a medium salsa girl. Need some kick, but not so hot it makes me sweat. Many thanks for the chance to win!

  162. I used to be a HUGE wuss and only ate things super mild. But my husband has been working on me and now I can say I actually prefer medium. And, PS, Ree’s salsa is also my fave. We’ve been making it in our house forever!

  163. I love it hot…but my stomach can’t take that anymore so it’s medium for me! Fingers crossed…

  164. I like my salsa medium. It’s too bland if it’s mild. It has to have a bit of a kick to it but I can’t eat the really hot stuff because I feel like I can’t enjoy it as much.

  165. Yay! I pre-ordered a book, can’t wait for it to arrive. And I want to give one to my mom for Mother’s Day…she’s had so much fun using Ree’s first cookbook! Would love to win one – thanks! And I’ll def be trying out that salsa…I like mine a blend of medium/mild.

  166. Salsa anyway!!! This misplaced Texan will take it no matter how mild or hot! Could you just give me a straw!!!???!! 🙂 I can’t WAIT to try this recipe…Thanks for posting! And Thanks to Ree for doing all the hard work by coming up with it….

  167. I like my salsa in my tummy!!! I don’t care if it’s hot, medium or mild, as long as I’m eating it, I am happy!!! It’s so versitile you can’t go wrong! One of my favorite meals is just cooking boneless/skinless chicken in salsa and then throwing it on top of lettuce with chopped avacodos! No need for dressing. Super easy and healthy meal that is packed full of flavor!

  168. We like it hot … When I make this salsa I don’t add the plain tomatoes … Instead I add more rotel original and sometimes extra jalapeños depending on the company

  169. I love salsa! Especially this salsa! My mom has made it before and everyone loves it! I like my salsa MILD! Sometimes a little spice is ok though too!!

    for them

  177. My husband is a chip and salsa fanatic! He loves his salsa HOT and he’s from England! I like my salsa medium, with just enough kick that it’s not burning up my mouth.

Question for you, can the Restaurant Style Salsa be frozen? I would love to make a double batch and be able to freeze some for later.

  178. I especially love spicy hot salsas – but I also enjoy medium with a kick on occasion. Sometimes, the heat overpowers the amazing flavor with hot salsas. 🙂

  179. Even mild is too hot for me! I have no tolerance for spice whatsoever so if I am gonna risk salsa it had beter be a good one!

  180. I love hot salsa. I bookmarked this recipe awhile back from the PW website. Guess I better get busy and make it…looks fabulous!

  181. We recently moved from TX to DC and have been mourning the absence of authentic, good Mexican food. This salsa looks perfect!! to help with this little “problem” of ours. 🙂

If I’m eating just salsa and chips, on the mild side of medium.

If I’m putting the salsa on a taco salad, on burritos, etc, then HOT!

    Johanna

  182. We like our salsa medium. Would love to win Ree’s new book, have her first one and love it. Thanks for the chance to win.

  183. We’re more in the medium camp around here, shamed into it by our sis-in-law (who’s from NM) telling us our mild “hot” sauce was cold! Hot… Well, we still like to taste some of the food under the salsa, so that’s saved for when someone needs their sinuses cleared!

  191. I have to make salsa two ways mild and medium….some in the house like it hot and some don’t. I like it mild!

  192. Medium, for sure. Though, since my husband LOVES hot food, I am slowly becoming more and more of a hot person.

  193. I like it medium – enough spice to entice my palate, but not so hot that I can’t taste the great flavors!

  210. I like my salsa mild, but my boyfriend likes his medium…so we switch it up! Love to make fresh salsa!

  211. I am a wimp, so I like my salsa mild…and even then I have to have a huge glass of water next to me haha. Thanks for the giveaway…Ree is awesome!!!

  212. When it comes to salsa, medium is just right for me! I like that little kick it gives, but not over the top. Your making my mouth water just thinking about it!!

  218. We like a mild hot sauce…..we ran across a product several years ago that we love….all you have to do is add a scoop of it to a can of crushed tomatoes and let chill for a couple of hours…..so yummy! Everyone thinks I made it from scratch….I’ll never tell….lol

  225. I loke medium. I have to tell you this is my favorite salsa. I never buy salsa anymore since I made Ree’s recipe.

  258. Medium! Love a little bit of spice. And salsa is my weakness… definitely could eat the entire batch + a bag of chips in one sitting.

  259. After 10 years in South Texas, I have achieved a taste for Medium spicy salsa. A little heat puts a rosy glow on your cheeks!

  279. I like my salsa just enough hot to make the food that I put it on better, but not so hot as to ruin the whole meal. My favorite salsa would say to me, “just one more bite”, which also means that it would be very light on the cilantro. Salsa that I like goes with chips of all kinds, on thick, buttery, garlic toast, into soup and into a glass of vegetable juice.

I don’t do much cookin’ for others any more, but I sure would like to add this cookbook to my granddaughters collection. Then I would buy two more for the other two granddaughters.

  286. I love salsa but I’m a bit of a wimp (or lacking kahones as Ree would say) lol. So I like it mild to medium.

  287. Love making homemade salsa I will have to try this recipe for sure. Would Love a chance to win one of Ree’s new cookbooks.

  301. I usually like mild but my husband like medium, i will definitly be trying this recipe because my husband puts salsa on everything!!:)

  310. Hot!Just like my email “lilchipotle”!! Can’t wait to try this recipe. We grow tons of tomatoes in the summer just to make our own salsa. Yum!!

  311. I like mine on the medium side but my boys like it hot so we go inbetween! The salsa looks fab. can’t wait to try it.

  312. Love Ree’s salsa, but I love it really hot so just add more heat! Great recipe to feature! My mouth is watering. Thanks for the giveaway. Blessings!

  313. Oh, don’t make me choose! They’re all so good in their own way. I usually make mine mild so my 4-year-old can join in the fun!

  318. I love my salsa mild to medium. If I’m putting it on me thought I like it with a little more heat. 🙂

  319. My preference for heat in my salsa is medium. I like a decent kick, but don’t want my lips and tongue to be on fire!! Having to drink a lot to put out that fire would take up valuable chips and salsa space!!!

  320. Great giveaway – this book looks fantastic! Love the salsa… it looks delicious. I love my salsa medium spiced. MMmm good.

  321. I have to say mild. I likenhot foods, but prefer to taste all the fresh flavors, not the heat, when enjoying something as good as salsa! I love Ree, her website is amazing and her food is to die for. I first learned of her blog through you, so thanks Maria!

  322. Normally I choose medium. I like the heat but I still want to be able to taste my food. Some salsa’s labeled medium might as well be mild though.

  323. I love a medium salsa, but my husband like it hot and sweet. This recipe is similar to the one I make for him. Thanks

  324. Salsa has to be hot hot hot! Otherwise, the Corona I wash it down with doesn’t have the same cooling effect!

  325. Probably medium- coming from the southwest I like my salsa with a little kick but i’d still like to taste the salsa not just the pain 😀

  326. I’m a medium kinda girl – I like spicy food, but the spicy factor of hot salsa is too unpredictable…

  327. I like my salsa any way, as long as it has a GOOD flavor. With prebottled stuff at the store you tend to sacrifice flavor for heat, and I hate that! So generally speaking I like mild for the flavor, but I do like my heat!

  328. Definitely like my salsa medium! Can’t talk if it’s too hot! But love it with just the right kick!

  329. I love PW! And she’s so sweet to be giving away her cookbooks.

My salsa has to be spicy! I grew up with very traditional Korean parents so I have a bit of a tolerance for hot foods 🙂

  330. Medium! Need some heat, but if it burns out my tastebuds, whats the point? I miss all the nuances of flavors…

  331. I like my salsa hot and I can’t wait to try this recipe! Love Ree’s first cookbook, can’t wait to get her new one.

  332. Just right! Not too hot and not mild. With enough heat to make me need another bite! I could eat a bathtub full most days…

  333. Your display of chips and salsa is beautiful! I like mine on the medium side!
Good luck with your new book!

  334. I love hot salsa with tons of flavor. None can compare to my mom’s homemade salsa, but I do really love Ree’s and have gotten SO many compliments every time I make it!

  335. Before living in San Antonio I used to be a mild salsa type person, but I have evolved into medium now :).

  336. I like medium salsa; that way I get some spice but I don’t have to commit to a lot of hot salsa. Clearly, I have salsa issues.

  337. I love my salsa HOT! I grew up with a father who put jalapenos in and on everything! I’ve moved on to Habanero chiles – Yikes! LOL!

  338. I guess I’m a little like Goldilocks. Not too mild, not too hot. In the middle, medium suits me JUST right 🙂

  339. I love most restaurant salsas. I usually like it medium however some restaurants mild is dang HOT!! So I will try any salsa LOVE IT!!!

  340. Mild is where it’s at for me. Spice and I don’t get along so well. This looks like delicious salsa, but then, it’s PW, so I’d expect nothing less.

  341. I like my salsa medium to hot – could easily drink it as most Mexican restaurants:)

  342. I like my salsa mild, medium, AND hot. And I love all salsa but PARTICULARLY this one- I make it every Friday to bring in to work for our Fiesta Friday tradition. thanks!

  343. I really enjoy HOT! the kind that you can’t stop eating cuz if you do it really burns =)
This salsa recipe is awesome for my family – and you can kick it up if you want

  344. Medium–with just enough kick to let you know it’s there. And Ree’s Restaurant Style Salsa–there’s nothing better–I could drink it!

  345. Medium salsa for me – and I just decided to make this recipe to go with tomorrow’s dinner! Thanks for a great inspiration – can’t wait to read to PW’s new cookbook.

  346. I love everything Ree Drummond does. So her new cookbook would be a joy to have, especially since she will autograph it as well !!!

  347. I like it medium to medium hot – unfortunately, have to make things milder than I like for the rest of the family 🙂

  348. LOVE salsa — medium is best, but I’ll eat it from mild to hot! I would treasure a signed copy of Ree’s new book — thanks for the opportunity to own one!

  349. I love salsa and I have made Ree’s restaurant style salsa at least once a month. I love this stuff!!!! Her recipe is THE BEST!!!!

  350. I like mine in the medium range. Sometime hot, but for true snacking pleasure it is best in medium heat.

  351. I am going through chemo right now so I am going to have to say mild, it’s about all my tummy can handle!

    1. I haven’t tried canning it, but I am sure it would be perfect! We actually have put some in the freezer and it freezes great!

  352. I know this may be a boring answer, but I have to be honest – I like my salsa mild. I have a stomach that can’t handle the spicy stuff so I have to go mild!

Thanks for the chance to win a copy of Ree’s cookbook! I hope you have a great day.

  353. I love this salsa!! I like mine on the Mild side!!
Thank you for the chance to win this awesome cookbook!!

  354. I’ve been making this salsa recipe for the last couple of years and it’s SOOOO good. My friends beg for jars of it whenever they think I have any extra. I love my salsa medium. I want just a little kick!

  355. Medium. I’m not super shy of spicy foods, but when it’s just me and some chips and salsa, I don’t want too much heat slowing me down. 😉

  356. When I first started making her salsa it was barely summer and the garden wasn’t flourishing yet, so it started out pretty mild, but we loved it. By the end of summer I had way more jalapenos than I knew what to with, so the salsa ended up pretty stankin’ hot!! And we LOVED it!!

  357. I like my salsa on the lower end of medium….a little kick, but not too much. The rest of the family likes strictly mild though!

  358. I love salsa and I love PW’s salsa recipe in her first cookbook but I do not make it as hot as she does. I like mine mild to med.

  359. I have made her salsa several times. I prefer mild while my husband and daughter prefer the hotter the better.

  360. I SO love her first cookbook, have ordered the 2nd one. I would like to surprise my daughter with her new book

  361. I grew up in OK and moved to VA. I haven’t made pinto beans in since I moved, and she made some on her show and it reminded me so much of home, I just had to make a pot. LIFE is GOOD!

  362. I like my salsa somewhere between mild and spicy. Discovered it makes a great salad dressing the other day!

  363. I Love my salsa medium, a bit of a bite, but not so much i can’t enjoy all other food i am eating with it!

  364. For dipping, I go mild. When using in a casserole or something I up the ante just a tad to medium.
Thanks for your giveaway! Like you site!

  365. I am a Medium Woman….my husband is a Hot Man! Needless to say I make all three because the kids always want some too.

  366. I love salsa any way, especially Ree’s salsa. I’ve made this recipe before and it’s my go to now, everyone loves it!

  367. Yummy–my mouth is just waiting for some crispy chips and some medium salsa–the hotter the better for my hubby–so I’ll make two batches!

  368. I like my salsa medium. The first time I had hot salsa – I mean this stuff was so hot it burned going down. Anyway that was when I realized I liked hot spicy stuff. But now my body cant handle it:( so I at least take on medium

  369. I like my salsa hot! It took me a long time to like salsa, but the restaurant style salsa PW makes makes it so easy!! It’s delicious!

  370. I have made the restaurant style salsa since I first saw it on The Pioneer Woman’s website. And I have made ever since. When the A/C guy comes to service our A/C unit – he even asks for it. It is so easy and delicious. This salsa is addicting!!! Love it. I love Ree’s first cookbook. I can’t wait for the new cookbook!

  371. I add salsa to every single meal, must try this recipe + the book sounds awesome!!

  372. Salsa isn’t perfect unless the veggies are freshly picked from the garden. I love medium (although I’ve been known to mixed medium with hot).

Homemade tortilla chips make it even more memorable. Gee, I’m hungry now…

  373. That salsa looks so dang good that I’ve got to try it. I have some canned homegrown tomatoes that I could use in making it. Thanks for the opportunity to win one of Ree’s new cookbooks, and I’m glad Ree introduced me to your blog.

  374. I’m a medium kinda girl. not so hot that it feels like you got maced, but a definite kick is a must.

  375. Medium–that way everyone in the house enjoys it–we could all live on fresh salsa in the summer!

  376. I’m a “hot & spicy” Salsa lover!
Ree’s recipe is by far the best! Served it for Super Bowl and it just disappeared!
    Great Giveaway!

  377. I like it spicy, but not overwhelming. On the other hand, a good, fresh pico is always welcome, even if it’s mild.

  378. I like my salsa hot…but since I must share with the hubby, I usually make it medium or sometimes even mild since he can’t take the heat!

  379. I like my salsa Mild for the most part, but if I find one that is REALLY good, then I can go for Medium..LOL…Thank you for this opportunity to win this awesome cookbook…I absolutely adore The Pioneer Woman!!!

  380. I’m between a mild and a medium. I like a litle kick but not so much that I’m running for a hose. Thanks for the giveaway!

  381. I can’t believe that you actually posted my favorite recipe from her blog. I make it all the time. I think it’s the only time I really use jalapenos, so I definitely like it spicy.

  382. Kids and I like salsa on the mild side, so will probably only use 1/2 jalapeno, then set aside some for hubby and put the remaining pepper in that. It’s a perfect side for Friday night’s enchiladas!

  383. Man those chips and salsa look SO good! I like my salsa medium to hot. Depends on what kind and how hot. 🙂

  384. I like my salsa medium. I love spicy foods, but I eat salsa in the boatloads, and I don’t want to sweat while I do it 🙂

  385. Okay. disregard pervious error post.

I meant that this in mild form tastes good on Barbeque Meatballs. Yum.

  386. Mild is the way to go for me. Anything hotter and my ears start tingling,my eyes start to water. I’m a real wuss when it comes to spice!

  387. It depends, so typically medium. There are meals which call for mild and nights that call for hot…with a cold margarita! So there.

  388. I like mine medium. My husband likes it HOT. This is my favorite recipe for homemade salsa!! I just add ghost chilies when I make it for my husband!

  389. I like my salsa medium to hot! A little spicy but not tooooo spicy! I don’t want it to taste like tomato sauce for sure!

  390. I like mine medium – and by the way, this an awesome salsa recipe, I have adopted it as my own, with just one small personal tweak – ground coriander. Lovely salsa recipe! Thank you for hosting this drawing!

  391. I like my salsa medium…. I have 5 children, we’ve gotten them all past the “mild” stage, but hot is still too spicy. Plus, I like to taste all the wonderful flavors in salsa… not just feel the burn.

  392. I used to be a ‘mild’ but I’m slowly making my way up to a ‘medium’. The cookbook looks great! Thanks for the giveaway!

  393. I’m complicated and complex so I mix medium and hot and how hot depends on how icy cold the margaritas are!

  394. HOT HOT HOT!

I have a funny story about HOT salsa I may tell one day… if I ever start a blog of my own!!

  395. I am eating Ree’s restaurant style salsa right now!! I like mine medium. Lots of flavor but not real spicy!

  396. Love my salsa on the “hot” side…raised my three “babies” eating salsa with a little bit of kick…now if I could just train my husband…we’d have such harmony in the house.

  397. Why is it that the person who likes the wimpiest salsa always gets their way? I like it medium to hot, but my husband won’t eat it that way. So I usually eat mild.

  398. Mild! But when I made this very salsa this week I only did 1/2 the recipe but added the WHOLE jalapeno pepper! Oops! It was still awesome!

  399. I like my salsa mild to spicy. I’ve made Ree’s salsa dozens of times and it can’t be beat! We love it!

  400. I like my salsa on the hot side, but always make it more “medium” for half my family …..

  401. I’m kinda of a mild salsa girl….especially if it’s verde, my fav! If this salsa tastes anything like the salsa at my fav local Mexican restaurant, I’ll be thrilled!! Thanks for the recipe and the chance to win the cookbook!

  402. This recipe is actually one of my favorites of her’s! I like my salsa hot, but I also want a good bit of ‘smoke’ in it!

  403. I love my salsa mild so I can eat more of it, unless I am pregnant. Then I crave a little more heat.

  404. I like it mild. I will make your recipe. I love salsa and chips. It is also good with taco soup. Thanks

  405. I never liked hot but I am getting use to it because it is a healthy thing–helps to reduce inflammation in the body.

  406. I’m a native Arizonan and was weaned directly from the bottle to Mexican food…….thus I love my salsa HOT! Thank you!

  408. I like it medium but since I’ve been pregnant I’m liking the spice. Our baby is going to come out like it hot!!

  409. I like my salsa medium-level spicy. I do love hot and spicy flavors but I’m sadly wimpy so I stick to the middle of the road so I can continue to actually taste my food. 🙂

  410. I like my salsa mild, with a little medium thrown in. Too little medium and it just tastes like tomatoes to me, too much medium and, whoops, there go my taste buds 🙂

  411. I love my salsa medium! spicy enough to feel the kick, but not so hot that you can’t taste anything else for the rest of the meal. 😉

  412. My salsa must be HOT! Not so hot that you can’t taste anything else. Just hot enough to make your eyes water!

  413. I Love my salsa between the mild and medium mark!! I love the salsa so much that if its to hot I can’t eat all the Salsa I want so I like it on the mild side so I can Enjoy all the yummy flavors!!!

  414. I’m a medium type of gal. I like a little kick but not so much I have to stop eating because my mouth is on fire.

  415. I love it hot! And thick. Not that runny stuff that slips off the chip when you dip it. This one looks fantastic!

  416. I like my salsa hot but near as hot as my husbands. 🙂 I like to think it’s because I’m natrually SpIcY!

  417. Medium YUMMY! Before I had kids I loved it HOT HOT HOT but my taste buds cooled down after 3 pregnancies

  418. Hmm, it depends on the scale, but probably medium. And I love the idea of this restaurant-style salsa – I’m a hater of big veggie chunks, so the smooth consistency would be great. Definitely have to try making it myself!

  419. I like my salsa on the medium side, my husband likes it hot, while our son prefers mild. We run the gamut in our house!

  420. i used to like hot….getting old, and the medium is more my speed now.
can’t wait to try the recipe.

  421. I like my salsa medium! I love Ree! She has such a wonderful sense of humor & I love her recipes! Can’t wait to get my copy of this.

  422. I used to only like mild but New Mexico has been my home for the past 10 years I like salsa that has some bite! You can’t live here and only like mild because mild doesn’t exist!

  423. I love my salsa just about any way, but if I had to pick a fav. I would say medium. That way I can still taste the other food i’m eating.

  424. I absolutely LOVE this salsa by Ree – I usually take the seeds out of the 2 jalapenos I use in this, so I’d say mild to medium. I like things hot, but I also love my taste buds.

  425. Medium salsa is the best. And the chips and salsa are my favorite part of any Mexican restaurant experience.

  426. Medium – salsa is the perfect do it yourself heat level. I always make mild salsa and serve it with a small bowl of finely chopped peppers on the side so each person can add heat to their own portion if desired.

  427. oooh. the hotter the better!! and i could probably eat chips and salsa every day and never get sick of it! can’t wait to try this recipe out!

  428. I have to make it all three ways around here! I like it mild. My poor taste buds can’t take the abuse from my younger years. My husband likes it medium. A little heat, but not too much…

My kidlet on the other hand, is trying to convince his taste buds to go on strike and move out of his mouth. The hotter the better!

  429. I’m mild, but my husband likes his salsa to make him sweat. Currently, his favorite sauce is made with the Ghost Pepper.

  430. I like my salsa HOT! I like to feel the heat in my face, get a runny nose and sweat a little when I eat salsa! Makes me feel good!

  431. I don’t care for salsa, as I find it too spicy, even when it’s mild. But I’d try Ree’s salsa in a mild version.

  432. I like it medium… it’s just enough to give it a kick, but not so hot as to completely burn my taste buds off.

  433. I love it pretty hot, not habanero burn a whole through your mouth hot but the spicyer the yummier 🙂

  434. I love my salsa medium. But I live with two people who will only eat it mild. So I end up doing two batches. All the more salsa for me. My life could be WAY worse 🙂

  435. I love salsa…. I generally like it medium, but can go either mild or hot depending on what is being made with it. My husband loves it hot; the hotter the better! =) So when I make it, I usually divide it in half and make one half really hot and spicy and the other one is generally medium. We get the best of both worlds this way! =)

  436. Mild. And I live in NM. I am so ashamed. But, my two-year-old will eat things so hot her eyes stream with tears, and beg for more!

  437. I like it medium! It’s got to have a little kick to it, without being too hot! But usually, any salsa makes me happy!

  438. I usually buy mild — can’t go too spicy — but like pineapple salsa in medium. Tortilla chips are best hot and lightly browned!

  439. My hubby prefers it hot so when I make it, of course I make it to please him. But really, I love it any way it is!

  440. Nachos!!!! My indulgence when I’m home alone and don’t have to cook dinner for everyone else. Give me Nachos…covered in cheese and salsa…. I’m a happy camper.

    Thanks again!

  443. Im so hungry now, and dont have any chips in the house! I like it medium, hot enough to clear the nose and not cry. Thanks!

  444. I like mine mild. I like to have LOTS of salsa on the chip with out any burning to deal with! haha. love all of Ree’s recipes!

  445. Savory is Cajun Chicken Pasta, Sweet is Knock you Naked Brownies
Thank you, I would be honored to own her latest cookbook
    Joanne

  446. I adore salsa!!!!! I like it mild usually, but sometimes I want that medium flavored kick!. Since I have been pregnant, I have put salsa on everything!

  447. Love this salsa, I make a batch, divide it and add more “hot” to part of it. My husband and I do not agree on this subject. I like it MILD.

  448. I like mine medium, just a touch of heat, but my kids only like the mild, so I always make two versions.

  449. I like my salsa mild or medium (what a wimp!) I like to be able to taste the flavors, not be overwhelmed by the heat.

  450. Medium is best, although if there are curiously refreshing adult beverages involved, sometimes I order hot. Then I am sorry, but not for about 12 hours.

  451. YUM your salsa looks so good, I’m making a batch now for dinner buffet! Thanksfor the chance to win a PW cookbook, I love to tryout all types of recipes!!

  452. I like the milder version. anyway, i tried it and either way it is awesome! thank youf or the giveaway 🙂

  453. I like my salsa mild so I can still enjoy all the flavor. However, my tolerance for heat has gotten much better since I met my husband who likes his salsa as hot as he can get it. Eye watering, pores sweating, nose running HOT!

  454. I like medium salsa but I usually buy mild so my 3 yr old and 1 yr old can have some too! They LURVE chips and salsa! I make Ree’s salsa all the time and my husband can’t get enough. I add double the cilantro. Mmm!!

  455. Mild … I’m so wimpy! But I’d love to try P-Dub’s recipe. This giveaway is fun. And I’m delighted to have discovered your website, I’ll be back!

  456. I love my salsa to have a medium heat. So I can still taste all the flavors throughout the salsa.

  457. I’m a lil’ bit of a “sissy” when it comes to spicy food, so I can handle the “mild” salsa pretty well. 🙂

  458. Medium! Hot is sometimes too hot to really taste the other flavors, and mild doesn’t have that nice kick.

  459. Defintely like my salsa between medium and hot! Chips and Salsa are one of my all time favorite things 🙂

  460. I love so many kinds of salsa – and when it comes to flavors and heat, variety is the spice of life! I guess if I had to pick just one, I would have to compromise at medium.

  461. Medium Thank You! I grow serrano and jalapeno peppers every summer with lots of tomatoes, just so I can make salsa! YUM

  462. Well, I’m picky. And I love Ree’s salsa. I like it hot, but hot flavor-wise, not burn-my-mouth-hot.

  463. Hmmm- Medium to Hot depending on who’s palate you’re testing. Gotta have that bite of heat- but a tang of Lime doesnt hurt either!

  464. I love hot salsa! I’ve already got my tomato seeds planted and ready for some canning salsa this summer!

  465. I like my salsa medium. Not too hot, but with a little kick!!
I would love to have her new cookbook. My daughters and I are big fans and are always trying one of her recipes!

  466. I like mild salsa . . . can’t even take the heat of medium! But I’ve started putting a touch of cayenne powder in dishes like chili, so maybe there’s hope.

  467. I like my salsa to be medium heat. Thanks for the great giveaway!
    heatherspooner1981 at gmail dot com

  468. I like my salsa medium. Enough to get the nose flowing but not scorch my mouth. thanks for the giveaway.

  469. I am definitely a mild salsa gal – even a little sweet….Hubby on the other hand likes his salsa HOT! We balance one another – lol

  470. I love the middle, but my husband goes for the hot.
So we usually agree on medium. But it has to be fresh!

  471. I like it medium, a little spice but not too spicy. My friends say it’s too spicy so hey-more yummy salsa for me!! 😀 Ree is sooooo the best, I love her recipes! Can’t wait to try this salsa recipe out!!

  472. Medium for me, or hot if there’s a sweet element to it – I love hot salsa with some peach or raspberry.

  473. I love the Pioneer Woman. Saw her cookbook today at B&N. So excited for her and for me if I win her cookbook. Thanks!!

  474. Medium fire for our family, except for the DH, who adds some crazy incendiary hot sauce and diced serranos to increase the heat. In everything.

  475. I love my salsa – medium. I like to have a kick but not so much that my tongue goes numb. I made Ree’s Restaurant Salsa for a Super Bowl party and it was all gone by the end. So easy to make!!! Thanks for the chance to win Ree’s new book!

  476. Hot! There’s a farmer at my local farmer’s market that makes the best salsa! I atleast get 10 jars of it over the summer 😉

  477. Medium is the way to go for me and with white sauce to double dip in even better – calms the heat and adds sweetness. Yum!

  478. I love it mild most of the time – but medium if I feel a head cold coming on – a bowl of medium heat salsa and the cold germs are “gone gone gone !”

  479. Tres` flambeau, not a word.. very hot… the one the restaurant wont bring you unless you make a special request. At Ted’s here in OKC its atomic sauce, and the one hotten’ that.

  480. I like my salsa medium hot and although I prefer salsa verde, a good red salsa can be very good too. Oh, and don’t forget the warm chips and icy cold beer! 🙂

  481. I hate to admit it but I am a mild/slightly medium girl! Restaurant Style Salsa is my absolute favorite!

  482. I like mine medium hot! Yummy! I still taste the chips and the salsa flavor lasts after the chips are gone.

  483. Love mild salsa! Can’t wait to make this recipe this weekend! Love AT&T the tummy recipes you post! Thank you!!!

  484. Ok I have no idea what happened to my first post, just for the record I don’t love AT&T, I love all, all the Yummy, not tummy lol, recipes you post! Yeesh 🙂

  485. I love this recipe and have made it a number of times. Everyone raves over it when it’s served. I love mine a bit spicy but not crazy hot.

  488. I like my salsa hot, but not burn your tongue, need to drink a gallon of milk hot. I like a nice zip!

  489. Medium! I usually make it using a the whole jalapeno, but only half of the seeds. Comes out perfect every time!

  490. whats interesting is everyone’s definition of mild-hot is different so it depends on where I am. Generally I’m a medium people cause I like it to have a kick but not so spicy I can’t taste the flavor

  491. I’m a mild salsa person but my husband is hot-hot-hot, if his head isn’t dripping wet it’s not hot enough.

  492. I’m indian which I guess means that I should be sprinkling chili peppers on everything… but I prefer my salsa mild! Haha — oh well!

  493. My husband likes it hot, I like it medium hot. Love the salsa in Ree’s first cookbook, can’t wait to try this one!

  494. Mild! Although that’s only because my husband is a wuss. I grew up with Texas and REAL Mexican styled hot sauce. So it’s not hot unless you can’t feel your tongue. 🙂

  495. I like my salsa medium. A little spice to warm you, but not so hot that you can’t taste your food. ;0)

  496. I love to taste all the flavors in a really fresh salsa…usually made the day I go to the Farmer’s Market

  497. I like my salsa to be medium. That sounds so boring, but with no jalapenos, it’s just bland and if it’s too hot, I can’t eat it. 🙂

  498. You know, it depends on the day. I’ve made Ree’s salsa and it was just perfect. I do not like “chunky” salsa as I call it. So being able to blend it into a smoother consistency was awesome.

  499. The Salsa looks so good I want to grab a chip and scrape it from my screen !! I like Medium but if it’s to hot I just add a big spoon of sour cream to cool it down !

  500. I like it mild-medium. I like a little kick, but unless I’m sick, I don’t need my sinuses cleared with a hot salsa!

  501. I was truly tickled to see the Restaurant Style Salsa heading up your post. It is hands-down our favorite recipe. So much so that we almost never go out for mexican anymore. We use this or her pico on just about everything. Ours starts out mild but each day the kick is a bit stronger. Mmmmm.

  502. Mild to medium and I’ve made this salsa before and you can eat and eat and eat this till you are filled to the brim

  503. I like mine mild — my husband likes his in the medium range. I have made this recipe and its delicious!!

  506. I love medium salsa but my boys like it HOT! So I have to make multiple recipes. And we have to eat them … all. YUM!

  507. I like it mild but the rest of my family likes it HOT. So I woman up to keep the rest of them happy…and keep a glass of milk nearby.

  508. I like mine mild, please. I grew up in a Dutch family among Scandinavians, in Northern Minnesota and we don’t do heat!

  509. Ok so I am not a huge salsa fan but my husband and 11 year old son can’t seem to get enough. When I do partake in it I enjoy mild but dh and ds like medium! 🙂

  510. Medium to Medium Hot, and preferably just a little chunky. Haven’t made Ree’s recipe yet but it’s definitely on the long list is her recipes I want to try (if I live long enough)!

  511. Medium. Just hot enough that it’s not too much like tomato sauce but not so hot I can’t find my mouth for the next bite.

  512. definitely medium. not mild because of the lack of spiciness and not hot because it takes away from the flavors.

  513. Honestly it depends on my mood. I like all three, but if I want to make sure I dont eat to much I go for hot.

  514. I like my salsa mild to medium. Just enough kick, but not too much fire. 🙂 Looking forward to trying this and more of her recipes. The ones I’ve tried thus far have been great!

  515. I am currently nursing, so to be kind to my little one I must say mild. In a few months he will be one, I will stop nursing, and increase my spice level. Then I will be saying HOT, please! 🙂

  516. Oooh, medium or hot, but usually hot. Mexican salsa is simply the best. And I just made her chocolate peanut butter pie (with some variation) for Pi Day. Yum!

  517. I’m a mild kinda girl because I have GERD…so spicy has to be watched 🙁 But I’m learning to teach my palate other good spices too.

  518. Gotta have it at least medium – sometimes hot! Or better yet, medium with a healthy dash of hot mixed in!

  519. Mild, but it has to be bursting with tomato/onion/cilantro flavor! The guys at our local mexican place always say, “Here’s your ketchup!” when I ask for mild. 😉 I don’t mind some spice, but their stuff is usually too hot for me. This recipe sounds perfect!

  520. I like hot salsa, but I tend to select medium, only because the heat-factor inevitably builds up on me.

  521. Usually I would say Medium, but lately I’ve been loving the HOT. That tingly feeling I get on my tongue is fabulous!

  522. Although everyone doesn’t always have the same definition of medium, it’s usually my favorite…definitely one of the best snacks! 🙂

  523. Salsa… it’s so yummy and it’s yummy on a salad as a dressing. it’s my new thing (a friend told me about it b/c it’s healthier than dressing! you gotta try it!)

  524. I like it medium to hot. With good flavor and some kick, bit not so much that my mouth burns and I can’t taste the salsa.

  525. Mild salsa for me. I love hot food but my stomach doesn’t! Big bummer but at least I can still eat salsa!

  526. I’m a medium kind of girl.

Thanks for your generosity. Isn’t it nice for Ree to bring us all together?

  527. I like my Salsa medium. I used to be a “mild” salsa person, but I’m getting more adventurous. So, medium is for me!

  528. mild, which probably would give me heartburn but i cut it with some sour cream and cilantro, lots of it! Yummo!

  529. I can’t take the heat (yet), so I like it medium, but I keep trying to increase it. My husband likes it hot!

  530. Mild or medium for me….I can do hot….but I can’t do hot for long….so that just means I don’t get as much of it…ha, ha…..

  531. Okay…. I have to have mild. My tongue is sensitive… but my hubby and son love med to hot….

I’m definitely trying this recipe… it looks so good. Now I just need a margherita.

  532. I like mine medium…but I really will eat it anyway! This looks like a wonderful recipe…can’t wait to try it. MY twins will love it!!

  533. it depends on my mood. Sometimes I really like a mild salsa full of chunks of onions and cilantro. Sometimes I like the heat from jalapenos, most times tho I like to use Garden Salsa peppers to get the nice after burner heat that you don’t taste on the tip of your tongue.

  534. I need my salsa to be mild on the verge of medium. Enough to feel a teeeeeeny tiny bit of heat, but not so much that I can only coat the chip in salsa juice.

  535. I like it medium. I like it to have enough kick to make my mouth tingle but at the same time I can taste all of the ingredients. thanks!

  536. I like my salsa hot! It’s hard to find it that hot in the market, so I will be making my own using Ree’s recipe!

  537. I’m a mild to medium kinda gal… but will always throw in a couple of hot peppers when I’m making this for my hubby!! My stretchy pants are pretty well stretched out…

  538. I like my salsa medium — and Ree’s salsa is THE best!!! I love it more than my luggage!
    Thanks for the giveaway…

  539. Oh my gosh! This looks sooooooo good! I would have to say medium to hot, more on the hot side. There is one Mexican place we go all the time and several times the waitress has just brought my salsa out in a soup bowl (not cup)…..saves her the trips. Now I can make my own soup bowl full!

  540. It depends on what type of mood I’m in and really the time of year. When it’s hot & humid in Missouri, I like mild with lots of citrus & when’s it’s dry & cool, I like it hot!

  541. I take the mild salsa bowl, but my husband wants it hot. Compromise is the key, isn’t it? We go with medium.

  542. I like it medium hot. Not too hot to drown the delicious flavor. Yes, it’s very hard not to eat too many chips if the salsa is good. I’ve made her recipe quite a few times.

  543. I like my salsa medium, enough heat to satisfy that spicy side, but not so hot as to interfere with the great flavors of salsa!

  544. I love my salsa on the hot side! I frequently have to make 2 batches when we have friends over as I have been known to light their mouths on fire!!

  545. I’m a mild salsa eater but the rest of the crew (including grandkids) like it at least medium or even hotter.

  546. I like it mild. I’m old. I have my health to think about. Things to do. I can’t handle the hot anymore, okaaaaaaayyyyyy!!!

  547. Sometimes I like medium.. sometimes I like hot. Whatever the mood though, I like a little sass in my salsa 🙂

  548. I’m pretty much a ‘medium salsa’ person, although some might think what I call medium is actually mild. I love a little heat, but not so much that I can’t enjoy eating the salsa.

  549. I love salsa medium. This was one of the first things I made out of her 1st cookbook. Lost count how many times I have made it. So yummy!!!!

  550. You would think I would have gotten an ability to take hotter salsa by now, but no, I am still a wimp and like mine mild. I love the specialty salsas like mango or peach though! 🙂

  551. I love this salsa, so easy, and coming from a huge Mexican family, I’ve tasted a lot of salsa! I love my salsa HOT, the hotter the better!!

  552. Mild to Medium. A little of both. Ree’s is divine!!!
Have a Beautiful Day and Thank You for the chance to win Ree’s new Cookbook.

  553. Mild to medium please and plenty of it—with chips, on tortillas, on salad, on burgers—pretty much anything—ymmmm

  554. I like my salsa mild to medium – I am a big fan of fresh tomatoes, so I want to actually be able to taste the flavors in the salsa versus just have my tounge burn off. 🙂

  555. I like mine medium to hot, i LOVE cilantro in my salsa so there needs to be extra of that for sure 🙂

  556. I’m such a wimp! I love salsa but can’t do the hot stuff!! Thanks for the opportunity to win this fabulous cookbook! Love her first one and will keep my fingers crossed that I get lucky and win this one!

  557. I’ll eat in any way but medium is my preference–not too hot, not too mild…juuuuusssst right :).

    Thank you!!

  558. I like my salsa HOT! So you can mix it with some sour cream and cool it back down to where you like it 🙂

  559. HOT! Ever since I met my husband I’ve been working toward eating spicier things because he loves things VERY spicy… I’m finally getting there 🙂

  560. I like my salsa mild, with a very slight kick (but not quite medium). I like to be able to actually taste the ingredients!

  561. Gotta be hot salsa!
Buy a bushel of my chilis every year at the Pueblo Chili Festival in Pueblo, Colorado. The smell from various farmers roasting their chilis is awesome, and I have enough to make fresh salsa, chili cornbread and pork or chicken chili and eggs with chili. . . and salsa, salsa, salsa

  562. I’m a Texan…here I’m considered a “mild” here but everywhere else I go people think I eat super-heat. It’s all relative.

  563. Ok I just made this Salsa Recipe last week, my sister told me I “had” to. Holy Cow I am HOOKED. It is perfect. Heat and all. Mild to Medium is my favorite! Good job Pioneer Woman.

  564. I like my salsa mild to medium, while my family prefers medium salsa. We can about 12 cases of salsa a summer, and we like ours chunky; Ree’s recipe should be a nice change!

  565. I’m a mild to medium kinda gal. I want something with a lot of flavor, but not so much that you can’t taste the ingredients!

  566. I like my salsa mild to medium. My favorite way to eat it is on top of a cream cheese and mayo mixture! YUM!!

  567. flamin’ hot! love your site. (ps I won’t be back to my computer until monday 3/19, in case of the fat chance I win a book!)

  568. HOT – EXTREMELY HOT!! I have made this recipe and I used extra peppers – I think it would be good with a habanero in it though!

  569. This recipe is *exactly* what I have been looking for…I like my salsa medium/hot, but I tone it down for my hubby! 🙂

  570. I like a mild salsa….I can always add some more pepper if I want it, but you sure can’t take it away!

  571. I love hot salsa but will eat any and all that is served> Thanks for a great give away and your (always) delicious recipes.

  572. I prefer my salsa medium to hot, depending on my mood. I can’t wait to try Ree’s salsa recipe.

    Chris M

  573. LOVE Ree’s Restaurant-Style Salsa. I have half a batch sitting in the fridge right now, needing some tortilla chips to go with it. I love the think chips too that you find at restaurants.

But, I like my salsa MILD, because I can’t take the heat. Yes, I confess, can’t take it. But it’s an awesome recipe and my husband loves it.

  574. I’m not big on spicy foods, so I like mine mild. My husband likes his hot, so we usually have to compromise with medium. Homemade salsa is the best!!

  575. I like my salsa mild. You are right about eating too many chips with salsa before the restaurant meal but you are supposed to. That way you take the dinner part home and have two meals in one. Thanks for the giveaway.

  576. I’m afraid I’m a wimp – I like it mild. Too much heat and I don’t notice all the other flavors!

  577. I love PW’s Restaurant Style and make it all the time — and the way the recipe is written, I’d consider it “Medium” which is how I like it.

  578. I like my Salsa mild, please! Thanks so much for the opportunity to win a copy of Ree’s new book! Can’t wait to go check it out at the bookstore!

  579. I LOVE my salsa medium (I prefer not to sweat profusely in public lol) … thanks so much for the opportunity, and I look forward to exploring YOUR site now! 🙂

  580. love it! we are HUGE salsa fans, and this looks like a keeper. Also love pretty much anything Ree does and would love to win a cook book

  581. I would love to win a cookbook. I have made most everything from her 1st book. The salsa is one of our family favorites!

  582. Mmmmmm, since I’ve been living abroad for so long, I’ll take ANY real salsa! (But I prefer hotish salsa…)

  583. I love HOT salsa of any kind, but there is something amazing about cilantro in salsa. It makes it taste so deliciously fresh.

  584. Mild to medium salsa for me. I’ve never made homemade salsa – but now I will definitely try it! I have a signed copy of Ree’s first book, but havent ordered this one yet. A signed copy would be fantastic!

  585. I love hot salsa — I don’t think it’s really great unless I’m crying and blowing my nose.

  586. I love this salsa! I like mine medium, but usually make mild, since that’s what the rest of the family prefers!

  587. PW’s restaurant style salsa is the only salsa I make. We love it. I like mine mild but my husband and son can eat it so hot you can’t stand it.

  588. Typically a medium salsa kind of girl; however, I will eat salsa just about anyway it comes. AND I have made this Ree’s recipe for Salsa and it is delish and a big hit w/ the family.

  589. MEDIUM SALSA. I LOVE TO PUT IT IN THE CROCK POT WITH SOME FROZEN CHICKEN BREAST AND LET IT COOK ALL DAY. IT IS DELICIOUS!

  590. I like my salsa mild – but I like to warm my mild salsa in the microwave just long enough to take the cold off of it. I’m not real fond of cold salsa.

  591. I like my salsa hot! But not too hot 🙂 My guy likes his food spicy so he’s breaking me of my spice wimp ways lol! I would Soooooooo love to win this. We’re BIG fans of Ree Drummond here at my house and this would just thrill us to death to have! Thanks for the opportunity!

  592. I like it hot but when I make my salsa to give for gifts I make it a bit milder so I don’t hurt anyone. 🙂

  593. Medium, please! I have her first cookbook. Anytime I make anything good my boys ask if is The Pioneer Woman’s recipe. 🙂

  594. I like mild salsa – wish I could handle spicy things, but I turn bright red and start sweating, haha. Thanks for a great giveaway!

  595. Medium, but my husband likes it HOT. As in, tears-streaming-down-your-face hot. And Ree’s salsa is the BEST! Even though one batch makes a TON of salsa, it never lasts long in our house!

  596. Love the first cookbook and really looking forward to the new one. Thanks Ree for helping me enjoy cooking again!

  597. i like my salsa medium. I do love a little kick! This salsa looks perfect because my husband is not a fan of chunky style salsa. I can’t wait to make this!

  598. I like my salsa medium. I love the heat of a hot salsa, but when the salsa is good I want to eat a lot of it!

  599. Ohmygosh, I’d love to win a copy of Ree’s book! I love my salsa spicy! I am such a spicy food person!

  600. I started blogging recently and I am now following Ree Drummond daily. She makes me smile. I feel like I could be in her skin. We think so much alike! Good Luck to me.

  601. I can totally vouch that this salsa rocks – and it is super healthy and loaded with lycopene! I found this on Ree’s blog several years ago and have been making it ever since. I actually never buy salsa anymore because nothing I’ve tried comes close to this! Love it!

  602. We like our salsa with a medium punch. Love your website, and your recipes are truly inspiring!
    Thanks,
    Caroline

  603. I like mild salsa, preferably with restaurant chips (WHY do they taste so much better than what I can find in the store?!?!)

  604. Probably somewhere between mild and hot. I like a little kick but I don’t like it to be so hot I end up in tears…

  605. Would like to be a spicy gal because my hubby of fifty years likes it that way, but I usually opt for mild.

  606. I have to have my salsa mild. I know most Mexican food lovers will frown on this but I can’t take the heat!

  607. I have a cold glass of milk here that’s very lonely, wait, maybe a brownie will show up? That brownie looks sinful!

  608. HOT….HOT…..HOTTER the better……would LOVE to be looking through this cookbook as I’m eating her special salsa…..:)

  609. I love salsa. Especially when it is blended. I’m not a girl who likes chunks. Medium for me….and a lot of it.

  610. Oh hot salsa is a must year round in this house. Hubby has Salsa and chips at least 3 times a week and yes he is in great shape!

There is hot, then there is hot-hot (sort of akin to like-like! LOL) I don’t care for the hot-hot, but hubby does.

During the summer it is nothing but FRESH salsa too! Hubby has it down to a science and can whip up a batch in less then 20 minutes.

  611. I like my salsa medium hot to hot please!! Love the stuff! I have a signed copy of Ree’s first cookbook and hope for the same with her second one! Keep the great recipes coming. 🙂

  612. I absolutely adore and worship ree!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’ve been making her recipes for years and have never had a thumbs down verdict from the dinner table. She’s an inspiration and a comedic genius, hats off to Ms. Ree and her awesomness!!! Please let me win her autographed book, you’ll make the stars in this Texas gals eyes dance a jig like nothing you’ve ever seen before! Thanks so much for sharing the salsa recipe, I’m Texan and my husband is Cajun…we like it hot!

  613. Hmmm, depends on what mood, and occasions. On the average I would say medium. I absolutely love the Pioneer Woman.

  614. I like it HOT HOT HOT! Unfortunately, my family is of the mild persuasion. I try to compromise with medium, but it’s still usually too hot.

  615. I love mine mild! A little spice is always nice! Love Ree and Love you. Can’t wait foe your cookbook to come out!

  616. I love my aunt’s avocado salsa. Medium, because I like to taste the flavor, but I love the kick at the end!

  617. I like it medium…not too hot & not too plain, but just right! Love the recipe and photos…thanks!!

  619. I like it hot! You know, when you start sweating because it’s so hot…oh, so good! I can’t wait to try this recipe. I love all of Ree’s recipes, I would love to win the cookbook, but if not I will buy it!

  620. I like my salsa medium. I’ve never made my own salsa before. Can’t wait to try Ree’s recipe. Thanks for sharing!

  621. I like my salsa medium. Acid reflux does NOT go well with spicy foods!! Hence, a lot of times I take my salsa mild as possible. boring, but safe

  622. Medium, I like salsa with just a little kick but not so much that I can’t taste the other ingredients!

  623. I love my salsa medium! But sometimes will take it a little hot depending on what I am serving it with.

  624. This I hope is the same book that I saw on a show that I loved but could not remember the name of the book when I got to the store. The recipes that are in this book sound amazing and I would love to have the book to give it a try. I dont have a lot of time to cook anymore and have wanted to get back into this. But salsa in any form is always a loved item in our home.

  625. I generally prefer my salsa mild, even though I like my food spicy. Salsa is just something that goes against how I normally eat I suppose!

  626. I love homemade salsa! Fresh is best! I prefer medium–just a little kick, but not “fry your taste buds” hot.

  627. Usually Mediums …. but sometimes a safe Mild is better! 🙂
I love Ree!! And I would LOVE the cookbook!! YAY for giveaways! 🙂

  628. I used to be a wimp. My husband is slowly converting me from mild to medium:) Maybe one day I will graduate to hot!

  629. Love the Pioneer Woman’s recipes – and can’t wait to cook with her new book! I make a salsa similar to this – and can’t wait to try Ree’s out. I love my salsa medium – not too mild and not too hot! Thanks for the chance to win!

  631. Usually I like the mild to medium salsa. I’m anxious to try this recipe. We’ve been looking for a good recipe for salsa.

  632. I love mild salsa, but my oldest son and husband prefer it hotter. My favorite salsa is one made with fresh, homegrown tomatoes. This recipe sounds perfect though to use when tomatoes aren’t in season.

  633. I like mild for snacking and medium for recipes, etc.

I’ll definitely have to try this recipe and thanks for the giveaway!

  636. I always wish I was a “HOT” girl, but I can’t handle the heat! So I’d say I’m a mild to sometimes medium girl 🙂

  637. I love my salsa mild or medium. Not too hot.. I still want to taste it! 🙂 This salsa from PW looks awesome!!

  638. I like it Hot, Medium, and Mild – I LOVE salsa – as long as it has great flavor! Your posted recipe has my pantry’s mainstay – Rotel!! Got to have that for salsa and for other yummy dishes. Mmmmmm! At restaurants that have great salsa, we ALWAYS tell them they had better bring a bucket! One little salsa WON’T do for my husband and me – we share, but not when it comes to salsa!! (unless there is a trough full!)

  639. I like my salsa medium. This sounds like a good recipe (aren’t all of Ree’s?). Will have to try it soon in my Blendtec.

  640. I used to love hot, hot, hot, but then I realized all I could taste was salsa and not the food that was under it! I’ve since scaled back to a reasonable mild-to-medium, to enhance the food, not drown it out.

  641. We like it a little hot but nothing that could burn your mouth. This looks pretty good the way it’s described.

  642. I love my salsa medium to hot! Like to add spicy heat to my food whenever possible. Great giveaway! Thanks!

  643. My daughter and I are both mild girls. My son is definitely middle of the road medium and my husband prefers hot hot hot. I usually make a mild batch, pour a couple mason jars. I add a little more jalapeño and pour a jar for my son and then for the kicker. The remaining salsa mixture gets it’s own serrano just like my husband likes it.

  644. Oh my, I can tell you that I love all kinds of Salsa. It depends on what I am eating it with – so it can be mild to hot, well blended to chunky style, with corn and beans or fruit! I enjoy it all kinds of ways and like to think out of the box when it comes to pairing salsa and food. By the way, I love Ree and her show and especially her recipes online. She combines humor and real life stories with them that make them hit home!

  645. I love my salsa hot, hot, hot!! And the medium ones in the grocery store are a mild for me so I was in desperate need of a homemade recipe 🙂

  646. I am a mild to medium salsa person. I love restaurant salsa too, I’ve just never found a good recipe for it until now!

  647. I have to be honest I am a real true hispanic both of my parents were from Mexico, but I do good to handle medium salsa. On the other hand my husband a native Tennesean goes for the hot hot salsa. So when we make this its somewhere in the middle. LOL

  648. I like to serve my salsa mild – best of both worlds for all – those who dislike spice can tolerate it but those who love spice get at least a hint of it!

  649. I like salsa mild, medium, and hot! It really depends on the day and what I’m in the mood for.

  650. I love medium salsa, and Ree’s version is our favorite. We always get compliments whenever we take it to a party.

  651. I just love all of Ree’s recipes! I prefer mild to medium salsa! My favorites are salsa verde & pineapple mango salsa!

  652. I love salsa anyway it’s prepared except for the ” so hot it makes your eyes burn” hot! This recipe is the bomb!

  653. I love salsa, mild is good. I also love it with black beans and corn. Been on a restricted diet so right now I would love to just eat a whole bowl of it!!

  654. Mild, my husband says I can taste in parts per million. Sometimes I can handle medium when the flavor is addicting. 😉

  655. Has to be mild for me.. usually like just the taste of the tomatoes with a little spice, not a knock you upside your head hot!

  656. I love spicy salsa! I just made my first batch of homemade salsa yesterday, inspired by some large tomatoes that had gone soft and were prob 24 hours away from being beyond help. I used 5 Serrano chiles, and never having cooked with them before, I had no idea how spicy they’d be. The salsa was pronounced ‘too hot’ by my husband and everyone else in the house. But I can’t seem to stop eating it. I had no idea how wonderful homemade salsa could be!

  657. I like my salsa mild. Just because I like it mild doesn’t mean I don’t love all the flavors – except the HOT one.

  658. I have not met a Salsa that I don’t like! To really enjoy my meal and get the full flavor of spices I like MEDIUM salsa the best.

  659. I LOVE Pioneer woman’s recipes, blog, everything! I have her first cook book and would love to have a signed copy of her second one!

And this receipe looks perfect. I can’t wait to try. ( mild is my faveorite)

  660. Salsa verde with just enough jalapeno for some heat! They sell it by the pint at the Mexican market by my house but definitely want to try to make it myself!

  661. I love my salsa a bit spicy but not so hot I don’t enjoy the flavor. I think the perfect chip is key to really enjoying the salsa that you choose to eat but that being said, GOOD salsa is enjoyable on just about anything…..

  662. I am SO excited about P-dub’s new book! I love all her recipes and her photography. I generally go with medium salsa, but have been building my tolerance for hot. It tastes so much better once your tongue doesn’t get numb anymore 🙂

  663. I love salsa verde-on eggs, burritoes, with chips whatever! I make a huge batch every Fall. YUm-Yum-YuM!

  664. I like mine mild, medium & hot!! 🙂 Mostly medium though. What a great and generous giveaway. <3

  665. Personally I like my salsa mild but like your recipe and comments, I love cilantro!
I’ve only recently found your recipes and am looking forward to trying ALL.
    Juliana

  666. This was awesome! I used tomatoes from our garden rather than canned and it was amazing. Thanks for this recipe

  667. Made this today, too sweet for me! I’d probably like it better if it were made with fresh tomatoes instead of canned.

  668. This is a great salsa! A little less sugar for my taste. All in all, will defiantly will be my choice recipe. Thank you!

  669. I was weaned on jalapeño salsa. I loved eating off my dads plate and he put salsa on everything! So… The hotter the better! Chips are optional.

  670. I like my salsa medium hot and can’t wait to try Ree’s recipe! If I don’t win her new cookbook, I plan to buy it!

  671. This seems really processed, authentic Mexican restaurant don’t use Rotel! Look for a actual salsa reciepe and its just as if not easier to make. No canned items, just chopping to tomatoes!

  672. I am a fan of mild salsa. I like for the group to add in their favorite heat so nobody is excluded in the chips and salsa party ! I will be making your salsa this weekend. THINK SPRING !

  673. I love salsa period.. mild – medium and hot – I also love Ree and Pioneer Woman. It is my favorite show 🙂

  674. It seems like u truly know very much with regards to this particular topic and that exhibits throughout this unique blog post, named “Restaurant Style Salsa & A Giveaway for The Pioneer Woman

  675. I’m a mild salsa lover. . . both the dance and the tomato kinds. Everything mild, tepid and subtle. Your salsa looks delicious!

  676. I prefer medium salsa! I have enjoyed The Pioneer Women’s recipes several times and if I do not win her cookbook here, will definately be puchasing my own!! Thanks so much for great cooking!!

  677. The hotter the better!! Love the smoothness of this salsa… Definitely my preference!! YUMMY!!!!

  678. Made this and all I can say is WOW! Great flavor and so easy to make! I added an extra Jalapeno with some seeds to boot! Gave it a nice kick that was not too overwhelming. Did not overprocess and left it a little chunky. Love being able to see the fresh veggies and tasting every ingredient on its own. I was a little worried it was all not going to fit in my 9 cup food processor, but it handled it with ease. Might be a little wary of a 7 cup though… All in all, great recipe that you can whip up in a mere matter of minutes. Thank You!

  679. I made this yesterday and we love it! BUT, we like it hot. I used the hot habanero Rotel, two large jalapeños, and even added a couple fresh habaneros. No more buying salsa for me because my son eats it daily! Very easy!

  680. Why does this recipe give such exact details on chopping, dicing and slicing… when all you do is put it in the processor or blender??????

  681. This is a warning: do not make – you will not be able to stop eating it! I keep a batch of it in the refrigerator all the time – it is even going on vacation with us next week.

  682. I love my salsa mild at first the a kick when I crunch the chip, I like the flavor to linger a little longer than the swallow. When cooking I like it a little more to the mild. I love the flavors more than the hot. Cilantro and lime make this the bomb!

  683. I made this with mold Rotel and omitted the jalapeño . It was perfect for my husband and I. Try it if you not a spicy hot person.

  684. I can’t wait to try this salsa! Since the tomatoes will be ripening in PA soon, can you tell me about how many whole tomatoes I should use instead of canned? thanks!

    1. I want to use fresh tomatoes too! I know this post is old, but if you tried it with fresh tomatoes, let me know how many you used…Otherwise I will wing it. I want to also freeze some for later use.

  685. Being a native of Tucson, Arizona, and only 60 miles from the Mexico border, you would think that I love and am used to spicy food. Sorry, I’m still a wimp. Mild salsa for me please. lol

  686. Can I make this ahead and can it or does it need to be eaten soon after it is made? I would love to make it for Christmas gifts but I wanted to make sure it would last.

    1. It will keep in the fridge for about 2 weeks. You can can it to save for a longer period of time. It also freezes pretty well!

  687. This is nearly identical to the salsa I make, except I don’t add jalapeno as some of my family members find it too hot that way. My niece likes it so much she actually drinks it out of a cup! If I don’t have any fresh tomatoes I leave the salsa whole and chunky. Blended or chunky it’s delicious and without the jalapeno about medium heat.

  688. I live in Tucson AZ so depending on what I’m eating in ratio to the heat of the salsa.Too much heat and all the other flavors get overwhelmed too little and it brings nothing to the party. For chips and salsa medium with a slow burn.

  689. This is a STAPLE recipe in our house. My hubby banned store bought salsa from our house when he tried this 🙂 I skipped the cumin (just didn’t have any handy) and subbed the jalepeno for half a poblano (seeds removed). We tried it the first time and I actually went into the fridge, threw out the cheap store brand salsa, kept and washed the jar (and removed the label) and it is constantly refilled with this simple stuff!

  690. The kind of HOT that keeps you dipping because you’re sure that when you stop your mouth will burst into flames!

  691. I love my salsa hot , however when I make it myself I try to always make sure that it’s semi mild for others whom may not enjoy spicer salsas . Love this recipe and Thanl you for sharing ! I’m entering the contest as well ! Thank you !

  692. Sorry if this is stated in the recipe – I was probably too busy admiring the delivious pictures!
About how long would this salsa last? (if you had the willpower to not eat it immediately, that is.)

    1. It will keep in the fridge for one week. You can also can it if you are into canning:) You are right though, it never lasts long:)

  693. I can’t stand jarred salsa and have been making Ree’s salsa recipe for some time. Even with de-seeding the jalapeno, the salsa can still be on the hot side. Definitely remove the seeds if you don’t like it hot! I also omit the cumin. Cumin and salsa don’t go together in my book. So delish!

Make this kind all the time and you are right i could go through a whole bag of chips eating this salsa

Good salsa doesn’t last long in my house. Great salsa is gone in a flash! I seem to use the chip as a scoop to spoon the salsa into my mouth. I long ago abandoned the dainty dip and shake move.

A family favorite! Fast, easy, and delicious. You can customize the heat level by adding another fresh jalapeño, or an extra 4oz can of chopped jalapeños. Highly recommend!

Love it! So easy, I just made it with fresh tomatoes….My only problem is that its a little too watery. I guess I should drain the Rotel before adding it….Anyone else have the problem of the salsa separating from the water in the refrigerator? I would love for it to be a little less runny.

    1. I have not made this recipe yet, but I plan to make it as a salsa to pour over chips “chilaquiles”. You alway simmer the sauce to reduce the water content.

Just made this today. Wow! It does make a lot, but having tasted it I don’t think that will be a problem. About to take a jar of it round to my son and his family and I know they will love it.

  699. Thank you for sharing this recipe -I think sometimes we will all make the same things based on our own recipe but then someone shares their own version and it can be a nice change—like this one. Keep them coming!

I had my doubts, but this really does taste exactly like delicious restaurant salsa. I like my salsa pretty finely ground (no big chunks of onion or pepper) and it came out just how I wanted it. I did end up adding an extra 1/2t of salt and a bit of extra lime juice. I would have added another jalapeño if I had one, as it is quite mild.
All those years I’d made failed salsa, and I’d never thought to try canned tomato in combination with fresh onion, cilantro, garlic and pepper. Somehow, in this version it all ends up tasting fresh but without being watery like a pico de gallo can be. Thanks for a great recipe!!

So easy and even better than many restaurant salsas! Our canned tomatoes had no added salt, which prompted me to add about 1/2 teaspoon more salt which was just right. I was hesitant to use an entire jalapeño but I’m glad I did. It’s just the right amount of spice. I like my salsa with just enough spice to tingle, but not enough to burn. The chips make a big difference too. Home-fried tortilla chips with homemade salsa….YUM!

I made this without the jalapeño and sugar and added onion powder to replace the fresh onion. I also added about a 1/4 teaspoon of oregano and a little more salt. Amazing!

We love this salsa and make it with fresh tomatoes in the summer. We could just drink it—even the kids who don’t love tomatoes or onions.

I have made this recipe many times and love it. However cardiologist put me on a low/no sodium diet and I Made it today with no salt tomatoes and no extra salt. It’s still very good and I can eat it with no salt Tostitos chips!

Just made this for the first time and it was absolutely perfect, I will for adding this to my regular recipe rotation.

  706. I have used this recipe for about 5 years. I love it! I also add a garlic wedge and half a large onion. I like it chunky.
