Greek Layered Dip with Hummus, Tzatziki, and Fresh Veggies

If you love a good layered dip (like my 7 Layer Dip), you have to try this Greek Layered Dip. It has all of my favorite Mediterranean flavors in one easy appetizer: creamy hummus, cool and tangy tzatziki, salty feta, crisp cucumber, juicy tomatoes, Kalamata olives, red onion, and plenty of fresh herbs.

I love that this dip is super simple to make and doesn’t require any cooking. You simply layer everything onto a platter, grab some pita chips, and you’re ready to serve. It looks impressive on a table, but it’s one of those recipes that is almost too easy to make.

The combination of textures is what makes this dip so good. The creamy hummus and tzatziki create a rich base, while the fresh vegetables add crunch and freshness. The feta and Kalamata olives bring that salty, briny bite, and fresh dill and parsley brighten everything up.

This is also one of those appetizers that I like to keep in my back pocket for entertaining. Make it for a game day spread, summer party, holiday gathering, girls’ night, book club, potluck, or dinner party. It’s especially nice when you’re serving a lot of appetizers because you can make it ahead and pull it out when guests arrive.

I always recommend making sure you get a little bit of every layer onto your pita chip—the creamy hummus and tzatziki with the salty feta, crunchy vegetables, and fresh herbs is the perfect bite. YUM!

Ingredients (with Helpful Notes)

ingredients to make Greek layered dip.
  • Hummus: I like to use my homemade hummus, it is easy, I promise, but you can use your favorite store-bought hummus. A smooth, creamy hummus works best for spreading.
  • Tzatziki: Again, I like to use my homemade tzatziki, but store-bought is great too. Just look for a thick tzatziki so the layers stay distinct.
  • Feta cheese: Crumbled feta adds a salty, tangy flavor. For the best texture, I like using a block of feta and crumbling it myself.
  • Tomato: Roma or vine-ripened tomatoes work well. Remove excess seeds and watery centers if needed so the dip doesn’t become soggy.
  • Cucumber: English cucumber is my favorite because it has fewer seeds and stays nice and crisp.
  • Kalamata olives: Their briny flavor adds so much to the dip. Make sure they are pitted before slicing.
  • Red onion: Dice it finely so you get a little onion in every bite without it overpowering the other ingredients.
  • Fresh dill: Don’t skip it! Dill pairs especially well with the tzatziki and cucumber.
  • Fresh parsley: Fresh parsley adds color and a clean, fresh flavor.
  • Pita chips or warm pita: Serve with sturdy pita chips for scooping, or cut warm pita bread into wedges.

Tips for Making Greek Layered Dip

Use a shallow dish or platter. A shallow serving dish gives you plenty of surface area for all of the toppings and makes the dip easy to scoop.

Spread each layer gently. The hummus is your foundation, so spread it evenly first. When adding the tzatziki, gently spread it over the hummus so the layers stay defined.

Dice everything small. Small, even pieces of cucumber, tomato, and red onion make the dip easier to scoop and ensure you get a little of everything in each bite.

Don’t skip the fresh herbs. Dill and parsley make the dip taste fresh and vibrant and add a pretty finishing touch.

Make it ahead. You can assemble the dip a few hours before serving. Cover and refrigerate, then add the fresh herbs right before serving.

Serve with sturdy dippers. Pita chips are ideal because they can hold up to all of those creamy layers and toppings. Warm pita bread is also delicious.

How to Store

  • Store leftover Greek Layered Dip in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. The vegetables will release some moisture as they sit, so this dip is best enjoyed fresh.
  • If you’re making it ahead, assemble the hummus, tzatziki, feta, and vegetables a few hours before serving, then add the fresh dill and parsley just before serving for the best flavor and appearance.
