Granola Recipe with my Two Faves

Peanut butter and chocolate, the two are a match made in heaven. I love them individually, but together, man oh man, talk about divine! Chocolate peanut butter brownies and no-bake chocolate peanut butter bars are two of my favorite desserts.

I am a sucker for anything with peanut butter and chocolate for dessert, but what about peanut butter and chocolate for BREAKFAST? Now we are talking. This Peanut Butter Granola Recipe with mini chocolate chips is my current obsession. This easy homemade granola is healthy enough to eat for breakfast but tastes like dessert. Yep, pretty much the best granola recipe ever!

Homemade Granola

Homemade granola is so easy to make at home and SO much better than store-bought. If you are worried about homemade granola being difficult to make, think again. This easy and relatively healthy granola recipe only has FOUR ingredients. It doesn’t get any easier than that and I bet you have all of the ingredients in your pantry right now. You mix everything in a bowl and bake until the granola is golden and slightly crispy! Your house will smell amazing too!

How to Make Granola

I love this granola recipe because you only need 4 ingredients:

  • old fashioned oats
  • peanut butter
  • honey
  • mini chocolate chips

SO simple! If you don’t want chocolate chips in your granola, you can leave them out. I’ve made both versions, with and without chocolate, and both are fantastic! Plain peanut butter granola is good too! Then, you only need three ingredients.

Tips for How to Make Granola

  • Make sure you use old fashioned oats and not quick oats.
  • Use creamy peanut butter. If you use salted peanut butter, you don’t need to add salt to the granola recipe. If you use unsalted peanut butter, add a little salt to the recipe.
  • This granola recipe is sweetened with honey and it makes the granola SO good. Peanut butter and honey are another winning combo.
  • I use mini chocolate chips for this granola recipe because I like a little chocolate with my peanut butter granola. A little chocolate goes a long way here.
  • If you need the granola to be gluten free, use gluten free oats. If you need the granola to be vegan, you can use maple syrup instead of honey and vegan chocolate chips. I like these vegan chocolate chips.
  • Bake the granola at a low temperature so you don’t burn the granola.
  • Let the granola cool completely on the baking sheet and don’t stir it if you want the granola to clump up.
  • Don’t add the chocolate chips to the granola until it is completely cooled. You don’t want the chocolate chips to melt into the granola.
  • Feel free to mix it up. You can add nuts or coconut to the granola!

We like to eat the granola with Greek yogurt or a splash of cold milk. It is also great eaten by the handful. Just beware, once you start, it is hard to stop! The granola will keep in an airtight container or jar for up to one month, ours never lasts that long:)

I have SO been enjoying all of your breakfast ideasyou”ve really helped me out by getting me out of a breakfast “slump. We”ve been eating the same ol” same ol” for quite a while-not any more! Three new ideas this week alone-and plans for a few more down the road. These oats look so delicious. I love those extra thick rolled oats-try the granola recipe on the side of the bag.Mmmm Mmmm GOOD. Oh man a sprinkle of that crunchy granola (that happens to be maple granola) over a bowl of this? I think that would be a tad tasty! Thanks so much Marci for pushing me out of my every day ordinary ho-him breakfast routine.my husband thanks you too!

  2. I made this granola exactly as recipe instructs in no time at all, and it is delicious! On a separate baking sheet I toasted 1/3 cup coconut and once everything was cooled I added the coconut with the mini chocolate chips to the granola. (Though next time, to keep it simple, I think I’ll just sprinkle the coconut on top of the granola and let it toast in the last 5 minutes of baking time.) This is so good with yogurt! Thank you for a simple and delicious breakfast or snack.

  3. Is the baking mat mandatory?
I don’t have any on hand, and I don’t want to buy any, but am dying to make the granola!

Great recipe!!!!!! Easy to make.  I used Walmart brand products (what I had on hand).  It came out fabulous. I will make this again and again.

I love your recipes! The granola I use a whole cup of peanut butter same on honey and add a little more oats…then I crush almonds and macadamia nuts and mix them in! I was wondering if you have the nutrition facts for your original recipe? Thank you so much for sharing your recipes❤️

  6. I loved this! I’ve also made a pumpkin walnut spice version. This recipe is so easy and delicious! I divide it onto two smaller trays and bake it in 2 batches in my toaster oven so I don’t have to heat up the whole house.
