Disneyland with Dole & A Yonanas Giveaway

Last week we went to Disneyland for the first Banana Summit hosted by Dole Foods. We stayed at the Grand Californian Hotel, which is located right by Disneyland and Disney California Adventure Park.

Before the event started, we walked around Downtown Disney with Kevin and Amanda, Jenny and cute little Paxton, Lauren, Shaina, and Shari. We always love spending time with our blogging friends!

We knew we were going to be eating a lot of healthy bananas so of course we had to find some sweet treats at Disneyland:) Don’t you love the Mickey Mouse caramel apple? Too cute! I loved the Chocolate Peanut Butter Graham Sandwich! Jenny has recreated Disney’s favorite treat, check out her recipe! I know I will be making them soon!

We are glad our husbands and little guys had a chance to hangout! Caleb and Paxton are buddies already:)

For breakfast, we had Banana Ginger Mickey waffles! Our Brown Butter Banana Waffles are one of our favorite waffle recipes, but I am going to try and recreate these Banana Ginger waffles soon. Although, I don’t think they will taste as good since I don’t have a Mickey Mouse waffle iron:)

We learned a lot about bananas at the Banana Summit. Did you know you can polish your shoes with a banana peel? Did you know it easier to peel a banana from the bottom up? That is how the monkeys do it! Just a few fun banana facts for you! Bananas are also the perfect energy snack for on the go! I always pack a banana in the diaper bag for Caleb and one for me! You never know when you will need a banana pick me up!

Dole gave each of us a big stuffed “Bobby Banana.” Caleb had so much fun wrestling Bobby in our room. Bobby is his new best friend. And look at those cute little bananas Amanda is holding! They are the perfect size for Caleb. We also got to try mini raspberry bananas. They are sweet with a hint of raspberry. They are so good! I am going to hunt them down this week.

After lunch, we got make our own Yonanas treat! Have you seen a Yonanas machine? They are so cool and so easy to use. All you have to do is put frozen bananas, or any other frozen fruit you want, into the machine and it will make a creamy and dreamy frozen treat in minutes. I love that you don’t have to add any sugar, eggs, or cream…but it tastes just like soft serve ice cream! I could easily eat a scoop of creamy frozen fruit every night for dessert! And Caleb loved it too! I gave him a bite:) Watch a Yonanas video here!

We also got the chance to try a famous Dole Whip and we went to the Enchanted Tiki Room! Caleb LOVED the Tiki Room! He went crazy for the talking birds.

After the Tiki Room, we went on a special tour of the new Cars Land at Disneyland. It is amazing! I felt like we were all characters in the movie walking around the town.

We also got to ride the Cars ride. It was so fun! Kevin, Amanda, and Shaina were in the front! Josh, Lauren and I held on tight in the back! Weeeeee!

We ended the event with a wonderful dinner at Carthay Circle Restaurant. TheΒ Carthay Circle Restaurant is located on the second floor of the iconic reproduction of the Cathay Circle Theatre.Β The atmosphere and food were fabulous! It was a fun night!

Before we left Disneyland, Amanda made sure we got a “family” photo! Thanks Amanda! We are one big happy family! Now, we all just need to live in the same state:)

But even better, when I was just too tired to cut, dice and slice, bananas made eating healthy easy. Just peel and eat. My favorite way to eat a banana is just that: raw. My second favorite is sliced and piled high atop a warm piece of rustic whole grain toast, smeared with raw Almind butter. Yum!

We mostly eat them plain, but sometimes I’ll toss them in some bread, freeze them for smoothie or faux ice-cream, or even use them as a substitute baking ingredient for healthier cooking. 129. Sweetness of bananas … hard to decide what’s the favorite, if it doesn’t have garlic it’s most likely to have banana … a great source of potassium πŸ™‚

  130. I’m not a huge banana lover, but I adore banana bread and for some reason have been wanting a yonana maker since I first saw it a month ago. My mother on the other hand eats at least 2 bananas a day.

  131. I love to make pecan banana bread with over ripe bananas but when I’m in a hurry, I just slice a banana and top it with peanut butter or Nutella. Yum!

  132. I love bananas a variety of ways, but a good, moist banana nut bread is one of my fave things that includes bananas. Just plain (chilled) is how I usually consume them though.

  135. My family & I love the Homemade Banana Bread Recipe that I got from my Mother-In-Law when my husband & I first got married over 26 years ago! It is the Banana Bread that my Husbands Mother has always made & she wanted me to be able to make it for him. It has Bananas, Chocolate Chips, Maraschino Cherries, your Favorite kind of Chopped Nuts & Buttermilk in it!!! The flavors blend & compliment each other. Everyone who has tried it loves it & usually wants the recipe! It makes a nice addition to a special breakfast or is great for a snack. All three of our children have grown up with it & now my three Grandchildren are.

    BANANA BREAD
1 Cup Butter or Margarine 4 Cups Flour
2 Cups Sugar 2 teaspoons Baking Soda
    4 Eggs 1/4 – 1/2 cup Chopped Nuts
    6 Ripe Bananas(mashed) 1/4 – 1/2 Cup Chocolate Chips
    1 Cup maraschino Cherries

Mix in order given(it works best to cream the butter or Margarine with the Sugar before adding anything else). Divide batter among 3 Greased 9x5x3 inch Loaf/Bread Pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes to an hour(until toothpick comes out clean). Cool & ENJOY!

  136. I love bananas any which way. But my top would be banana bread and then for plain bananas I liked them sliced the way they are served on on cruise, we called them cruised bananas! After they sit for a few minutes they get extra tasty. Thank for doing a give away.

  137. I wont lie, my favorite way to eat a banana isn’t normal AT ALL, but I promise it is so yummy! I mash it all up in a cup (2-3 bananas), add 1/2 cup milk, and 2 tblsp maple syrup and mix/mush/mash, etc. lol. It is DELISH! I need that yonana machine because I have an ice cream/yogurt fit DAILY! If I could somehow add in fruits to my diet this would be MY chosen way!

  138. I love bananas in smoothies and when I am low on my calories for the day I like to eat them with a little bit of peanut butter.

  139. I don’t like eating first thing in a.m. but when I need to, bananas to the rescue! ( I secretly luv nutty, chocolately frozen bananas too! what, chocolate’s healthy;-)

  140. What a totally neat machine!!!!!! Can’t believe that it takes just frozen fruit and turns it into something so creamy. My family would love this!!! I’m a sucker for bread so I would say freshly baked banana nut breat hot from the oven is my favorite way to eat bananas.

  141. I love bananas any- and everywhich way!! in muffins, cakes, banana pudding is a lifetime favorite!! and love them in oatmeal, cereal, yogurt or just plain or smeared with peanut butter too!!
