ingredients in bowls to make pizza sliders on Hawaiian sweet rolls.

Ingredients

  • Italian sausage– you can use ground mild or hot Italian sausage. We use mild.
  • Hawaiian sweet rolls– we like to use King’s Hawaiian rolls that come in a 12 pull apart pack. If you can’t find King’s Hawaiian rolls, look for pull apart slider rolls or buns. Don’t pull apart the rolls. Keep them all together!
  • Pizza sauce– we like to use our homemade pizza sauce. You can also use marinara sauce. Store bought sauce is fine too, Rao’s is our favorite brand.
  • Mozzarella cheese– I recommend using a block of mozzarella cheese and grating it. It will melt better than store bought shredded cheese.
  • Pepperoni slices– you can use regular pepperoni or turkey pepperoni.
  • Salted butter– melted!
  • Parmesan cheese– freshly grated!
  • Herbs & Spices– garlic powder, Italian seasoning, crushed red pepper flakes, and parsley to make the garlic butter!

Use Your Favorite Pizza Toppings

We used pepperoni and sausage, but the pizza sliders are easy to customize. Use your favorite pizza toppings! Here are some ideas.

  • Sliced black olives
  • Sliced bell peppers or roasted red peppers
  • Sliced red onion
  • Canadian bacon
  • Pineapple
  • Sautéed mushrooms
  • Artichoke hearts
  • Spinach

What to Serve with Pizza Sliders

A good salad always pairs nicely with pizza sliders!

How to Store

  • The sliders are best the day they are made, but if you have leftovers, you can store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Note, the longer they sit in the fridge, the soggier they will get.
  • I recommend reheating in an air fryer or wrap the sliders in foil and reheat in a 350 degree oven until heated through and cheese is melted.
